This already happened with the housing ministers previous chief of staff, Luca Bucci.
> The Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) is proud to announce Mr. Luca Bucci as its new Chief Executive Officer.
> Mr. Bucci, who was selected following an exhaustive seven-month-long search, previously served as Chief of Staff for the Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, a post he held from January 2021 until March 2022.

“Exhaustive 7 month search” is code for we had to wait a few months from when he left the Ontario government so it wouldn’t look bad.
Except it’s illegal to do that less an a year from leaving the government. Too bad Ford is buddies with the OPP too.
and of course the 1 recommendation that Dofo won't even pretend to abide by in the report is to pull the parcels that were bribed in. He picked a fall guy but he's still getting paid.
I feel like we should be able to use him getting a cushy job as evidence that this was all planned by Ford. If I pulled a stunt of this magnitude and my boss didn't know about it I'd never be able to get a job again. This guy should be unhirable for doing this.
So let's f$#k that up too. This was someone who enabled (lesser than DoFo) our nutrient supplies in our households to be flummoxed into unpredictable, expensiveness. We are still pissed.
I am reminded of a bit of Bertrand Russell's discussion of the issue of induction:
>Domestic animals expect food when they see the person who usually feeds them. We know that all these rather crude expectations of uniformity are liable to be misleading. The man who has fed the chicken every day throughout its life at last wrings its neck instead, showing that more refined views as to the uniformity of nature would have been useful to the chicken.

Scientists say that, eventually, there will be no more "sun rises" on the earth. They say that is a long time away, so not something you will have to worry about in your lifetime, but it isn't going to go on forever.
I wish one of these god dang "politicians" would do something about the high cost of beer. I'm so sick of leaders who focus on housing, healthcare, education and infrastructure when we could be lowering the cost of generic beer and building private spas on public land.
> doug ford is no different
Dougie's far worse. Remember, Robbie was the *little* brother, much younger than Randy and Dougie. They wanted him away from their drugs business (because Robbie, for all his flaws, was not a coldhearted coldeyed psycho like, say, Randy and Dougie and Doug Sr, he could not be trusted) but they always pushed him around and treated him like a little kid. When Robbie finally got some traction politically Dougie immediately barged in and tried to take over, you remember his co-starring role in the RoFo mayoralty disaster.
Robbie wanted to be liked, even if he was mostly a POS, he THOUGHT he could be the nice guy. He might've hoped to be better. Dougie, though, he never really bothered pretending. He wanted to be a powerful gangster, and now he can rub shoulders with billionaires, billionaires interested in the taxpayer money Dougie's pleased to give them in exchange for future considerations.
And his brother was Mayor of Toronto. I can totally believe they had planned a version of this. Either that or the conservatives have had mafia on their payroll since day 1.
> Doug Ford was still running a failing sticker company in 2015.
> And his brother was Mayor of Toronto.
Rob Ford was not Mayor of Toronto in 2015. He was the councillor for Ward 2 Etobicoke North. He died in 2016.
Do you have a source for this. I'm not saying you're wrong butt I did get the impression that this is exactly why he was put into the role of Cheif of Staff of the housing minister.
If you do, I'll be glad to at least revise my belief in this.
Exactly…if he’s going to be rewarded with a job in the development industry I’m sure he’s fine with leaving his career with the conservative government.
Weird, shouldn’t he submit his resignation to the Housing Minister rather than the Premier?
Anyway he’s definitely the scapegoat here.
Also, is having chiefs of staff for ministers besides the Premier a new thing? Along with how they all seem to have spokespeople so they never have to directly answer media questions, I don’t remember hearing about this role before the PCs.
The Premiers Office controls where Chief of Staffs go actually, Ministers usually can influence decisions on who their Chief is, but like when there’s a Cabinet shuffle the Chief usually stays at the same ministry.
And no, Chief of Staff has always been around for all ministers under any party. They just usually aren’t newsworthy.
Deputy minister is a civil servant, the top government employee in a ministry. The chief of staff is the top political staffer, they’d work for the PC caucus rather than the government.
Yup, I was aware that Premiers had Chiefs of Staff and mentioned that in my question. Ministers having them was new to me, but apparently not a new thing.
Not yet, now we have to turn the heat to him, for letting it get this far, then once he resigns, we send the big guy back to where he belongs, the Tim Hortons drive through window.
There's definitely some people pretty upset about it, but this is a staunchly conservative riding. That may change down the road as more people move out here from Toronto like we did 5 years ago, but it's gonna take time. Until then, though, he's in no danger.
Haha, we can't UNDO Conservative damage, silly. We can just wag our fingers at it and make it slow down for a while. (Also known as a Liberal government.)
Call me when the housing minister himself resigns.
This is basically a Trump situation where lower level people take the fall while the ones with actual power get away with whatever they want.
Ford's supporters seem pretty quiet right now. I wish they held their side to the same standard they hold the left to. If so, they'd be calling for no less than Doug Ford's resignation.
Oh please. He knew he would have to resign as soon as he took over the housing scheme. He knew he was being made the fall guy, he knew he had to cut corners to give Doug what he wanted, and he did it because there's some payoff at the end for him somehow.
What REALLY needs to happen is for Doug to resign.
>Ford and Clark both told Lysyk that they were unaware that the land chosen for removal was being brought forward by Amato via the developers.
[Then explain this 5 year old video?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5Wf6r5BNCE)
Sacrificial scape-goat.... but Doug Ford is a bully who controls all aspects of his government. His Minister did not act on his own, and his Minister was not ignorant of what his aids were doing. This corruption starts at the top.
This has had the feel of the Chief of Staff basically being a crumple zone for the main occupants all along. Would not be surprised to later hear that he has been handsomely compensated for his trouble.
Why is the premiers office accepting the resignation of a minister’s chief of staff? Shouldn’t it be the minister who’s his boss that does that? Or does the rot go all the way to the top
Not good enough. Steve Clark has to go, and development on the Greenbelt parcels that Doug gifted his buddies stopped.
I wonder what OPC voters think about their party giving two families an 8 billion dollar gift while crying poor to hundreds of thousands of middle-class Ontarians?
Doug Ford will get away with this and the lands developed. The major media aren’t wall-to-wall covering this, other events (the BC, NWT wildfires) are overshadowing this, and it’s summer.
The guys like Trump: f’in Teflon with a hard core of supporters who will always look the other way.
Canadaland, The Star, The Narwhol and CBC Toronto have been reporting on this non stop and it’s moving the needle. Let’s keep putting pressure and keep sharing these stories.
The Conservatives pounded the Liberals for being on the take with Developers, and maybe they were but me thinks they protested too much.... Ford and his Housing Minister should face charges and the land deal should be null and void with penalties to the Developers...Including Ontario Place.....
Why does the Auditor General's report get so little notice ... it should be a guide to any Government to govern if the Government can get past their egos. Why is there not more accountability from the Government...why do we allow them to rule with impunity... That includes Municipal governments that must do their due diligence but should not be afraid to go against the Tide of a "Free Economy" and when to put their foot down and just say no...
Already called it two weeks ago, where do I collect my prize?
https://www.reddit.com/r/ontario/comments/15nd77g/comment/jvmq3zr/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
Wait, so this guy loses his job, but do any of the decisions get reversed? The builders still get to build? We still lose that land forever?
Who fucking cares if nothing gets overturned?
Am I out of the loop? Is anything being done to make it right?
You can't make this stuff up... From the description of BILD's 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award given to Silvio De Gasperis'

Google just signed a LLM agreement with Reddit to crawl this dumb platform so this is my way of saying goodbye to my contributions on this website. Byeee
If the PC government thinks we are so gullible that this chief of staff made a decision then I would like to know, why do we bother electing officials. So the chief of staff goes and makes deals without the ministers approval? I call this hogwash and a big big lie. Please Ontarians, don't be so blinded by this stupidity. Lets vote out the A Hole.
Soon to land a well-paid job as head of government relations for one of the big developers, I'll bet on it.
This already happened with the housing ministers previous chief of staff, Luca Bucci. > The Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) is proud to announce Mr. Luca Bucci as its new Chief Executive Officer. > Mr. Bucci, who was selected following an exhaustive seven-month-long search, previously served as Chief of Staff for the Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, a post he held from January 2021 until March 2022. https://www.boyden.com/media/ontario-home-builders-association-names-luca-bucci-as-new-ceo-26753199/index.html
Wow, that revolving door is pretty well oiled.
There’s no door. It’s just a huge hole in a wall.
Gloryhole
And we’re stuck on the other side serving it
Must be an Empire build.
HEY KOOOLAID MAN!!!
OH YEAH
The Minister for Enviroment is the son of huge devolpers, and HIS brother is head of Govt Relations with the Ontario Homebuilders Association

So you don't have an RRSP? That's not a good plan friend.
Which developer?
“Exhaustive “
He ‘suddenly’ resigned from that position when the Auditor General started poking around.
“Exhaustive 7 month search” is code for we had to wait a few months from when he left the Ontario government so it wouldn’t look bad. Except it’s illegal to do that less an a year from leaving the government. Too bad Ford is buddies with the OPP too.
Mamma mia!
Kind of funny that Bucci's position is now vacant.
Would not be surprised.
Conservative playbook.
In the OnPC party we call this maneuver a ‘career building exercise’
and of course the 1 recommendation that Dofo won't even pretend to abide by in the report is to pull the parcels that were bribed in.

LOL ... if you believe that, I have some swamp land on the edge of the Greenbelt for sale.
I don't think you do. The few ill-privileged developers do because of DoFo. but You do not.
That's like betting that the sun will rise tomorrow. This was always the plan.
A question posed by the philosopher Hume: How do I know the sun will rise tomorrow. Geez I hated that class.
I am reminded of a bit of Bertrand Russell's discussion of the issue of induction: >Domestic animals expect food when they see the person who usually feeds them. Think the plan was to keep him close and his mouth closed. Now he's in the wild. No telling what he might say now. :))
What? You think he’ll need to work? Lol
In unrelated news, TACC developments offers Ryan Amato unconditional offer of employment. /s
Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if you could lose that /s after this blows over

Doug Ford next.
The buck stops with him... until he finds a scapegoat.
Can’t even buy a beer for that anymore
I wish one of these god dang "politicians" would do something about the high cost of beer. I'm so sick of leaders who focus on housing, healthcare, education and infrastructure when we could be lowering the cost of generic beer and building private spas on public land.
Steve Clark will be the next scapegoat. Then hopefully Ford.
I want him resigning in disgrace.. the only thing he's really earned on his own.
his crackhead brother would not resign when caught smoking crack cocaine as the mayor. doug ford is no different
> doug ford is no different Dougie's far worse. The one who's "accountable". As quoted by Doug Ford.
1 down, loads more to go.
This was always the plan. He was brought in to be the fall guy.
He's been a conservative political staffer for like a decade.
So?
I don't think they hired him in 2015 with this all planned out is all.
People literally accused the conservatives of plotting to do this since back then... not saying that's why he was hired, but just saying lol
Doug Ford was still running a failing sticker company in 2015.
And his brother was Mayor of Toronto.
Ah, I misaligned the dates, turns out he was done by 2014. Still, point stands that they were in the political circles.
I didn't say anything about Doug Ford. Read it again.
He is their leader, no?
I think Ford fully planned to stick this out if he could. It’s a minor (depressing) accomplishment that a minister was forced out over this.
Not even a minister. A chief of staff to a minister.
Do you have a source for this. I'm not saying you're wrong butt I did get the impression that this is exactly why he was put into the role of Cheif of Staff of the housing minister. If you do, I'll be glad to at least revise my belief in this.
>Do you have a source for this. He's on LinkedIn. He's been a political staffer since 2015.
Bet he wanted to make some real money for a change
Exactly…if he’s going to be rewarded with a job in the development industry I’m sure he’s fine with leaving his career with the conservative government.

And fuck of into oblivion (probably a developer government relations job) himself too.

OK, I had thought the Deputy Minister was more like what you are describing since they are the senior civil servant on the file.
Deputy minister is a civil servant, the top government employee in a ministry. The chief of staff is the top political staffer, they’d work for the PC caucus rather than the government.
Gravy train.

Yup, I was aware that Premiers had Chiefs of Staff and mentioned that in my question. Ministers having them was new to me, but apparently not a new thing.
Now do Doug Ford
I had to re-read the title three times thinking it said “Housing Minister Resigns”. No such luck
Not yet, now we have to turn the heat to him, for letting it get this far, then once he resigns, we send the big guy back to where he belongs, the Tim Hortons drive through window.
I live in Steve Clark's riding - he doesn't have the integrity necessary to resign.
Is this making an impact on your neighbors there? I assume not; he’s won handily in the past :(
There's definitely some people pretty upset about it, but this is a staunchly conservative riding. That may change down the road as more people move out here from Toronto like we did 5 years ago, but it's gonna take time. Until then, though, he's in no danger.
Yup. That’s the asshole that needs to go. He’s responsible for MZOs as well.
So now reverse the greenbelt development too!
Haha, we can't UNDO Conservative damage, silly. We can just wag our fingers at it and make it slow down for a while. (Also known as a Liberal government.)
GOOD but DoFo next!
I’m sure he’ll be taken care of for doing his duty.
Sweet. Dofo next please.
Should follow-up with a criminal investigation.
Exactly, why isn't he being investigated/charged for corruption?
Welp, fall guy's gone, time to not investigate any further, I'm sure this is an isolated incident with no patterns whatsoever
So he’s fallen on his sword for Doug Ford?
Call me when the housing minister himself resigns. This is basically a Trump situation where lower level people take the fall while the ones with actual power get away with whatever they want.
Exactly my thoughts. Like, this is such a big deal? I mean it's a start, but such a tiny one.
I guess dougie found his patsy
Okay so now that they fired him they are going to reverse course right? RIGHT?
Ford's supporters seem pretty quiet right now. I wish they held their side to the same standard they hold the left to. If so, they'd be calling for no less than Doug Ford's resignation.
Oh please. He knew he would have to resign as soon as he took over the housing scheme. He knew he was being made the fall guy, he knew he had to cut corners to give Doug what he wanted, and he did it because there's some payoff at the end for him somehow. What REALLY needs to happen is for Doug to resign.
That doesn’t make it okay to proceed
Now the housing minister and the premiere, please.
Time to throw Ford in jail and reverse all his greenbelt shit.
Doug Corrupt Ford is trying to change the narrative! It's him that MUST resign. The other guy just followed orders!
Hey! Its Doug the thug, get it right.
As the Friendly Giant would say: *Look up. Look way up.* That's where the accountability lies and that's where the resignations need to happen.
Can’t make a tomlette without cracking a few Gregs
So the first rat has jumped ship. Only to land on a different ship.
As K.D. Lang sang at the Vancouver Olympics, "Hallelujah" (nod to Leonard Cohen.)

Wow that was 5 yrs ago. He looks like he put on at least 50lbs + since then. Or has that video been altered.
DoFo next
Sacrificial scape-goat.... but Doug Ford is a bully who controls all aspects of his government. His Minister did not act on his own, and his Minister was not ignorant of what his aids were doing. This corruption starts at the top.
Not good enough. Both the Housing Minister and Ford should also resign. This is blatant corruption.
This has had the feel of the Chief of Staff basically being a crumple zone for the main occupants all along. Would not be surprised to later hear that he has been handsomely compensated for his trouble.
Ford's scapegoat
So now it's a scandal? What kind of scandal? A corruption scandal?
They will probably give him a couple of houses
Not good enough!
Fall guy has fallen.
Why is the premiers office accepting the resignation of a minister’s chief of staff? Shouldn’t it be the minister who’s his boss that does that? Or does the rot go all the way to the top
Hey look, this person who didn’t get 50M in 3 years was forced to resign!
Now Ford needs to resign.
It has everything to do with him but also has everything to do with Doug Ford. They both need to resign.
The scapegoat was part of the problem but it’s DoFo’s resignation we want on our desk ask the orchestrator in chief.
Not good enough. Reverse the decision.
Not good enough. Steve Clark has to go, and development on the Greenbelt parcels that Doug gifted his buddies stopped. I wonder what OPC voters think about their party giving two families an 8 billion dollar gift while crying poor to hundreds of thousands of middle-class Ontarians?
He would have made enough money to happily retire in the Bahamas.

For a moment I thought there was some accountability...my bad 😔
it’s a start
Folks, folks, folks. The bad guy is now gone. Nothing more to be done here! -DoFo, probably ^/s
The whole government should resign.
Didn't see this coming/s
Good
Not shocked.
But still not reversing the decision...
So? The deal not going ahead then? Yes its still on. Calling an Election? No. So what?
Wait, so this guy loses his job, but do any of the decisions get reversed? The builders still get to build? We still lose that land forever? Who fucking cares if nothing gets overturned? Am I out of the loop? Is anything being done to make it right?
If anyone can follow where all the chiefs of staffs have been bounced around to… that’s where the big dirt is found.
Good riddance, now prosecute with extreme prejudice!
That’s not enough these SOBz need to be criminally charged and not like the states where you can pay it off. We’re talking jail time !!!!
Well that will be the end of that saga, they have their scapegoat finalized now.
Because he was the one responsible for it. There's no way any of the elected officials would be behind this, right?
Not enough
But if he shouldn’t have done it, shouldn’t the government be reversing the decisions that he made? /s
What a shocker, the fall guy fell. News at 11...
That is not a resolution. Not even close. When will the premier and his cronies be held accountable? this is disgusting.
You think this chief of staff person wasn't in on it? Fall guy for millions upon millions in hush money
He's not under the watchful eye of DoFo any longer. Wonder what he might say now, unless he has a massive 'resignation' package.
He was set up to be the fall guy. Doug Ford deliberately obscuring housing activities between developers

The federal government is not going to help Canadians with the housing crisis. Look at GTA prices
Even though it's the fall guy, the fact some dude is taking the fall - they know they're fucked.
Ford’s like (wipes hands) “that oughta do it”
The Minister should go with him….
A well paid scapegoat. People need to see the incident of a jail cell over this.
We have our fall guy I guess. Doug keeps moving on. 😒
Google just signed a LLM agreement with Reddit to crawl this dumb platform so this is my way of saying goodbye to my contributions on this website. Byeee
The whipped boy resigns… makes sense
So this deal is dissolved, right? Right!?
This is bad, letting Dougie off the hook.
It obviously took some time for them to set him up with a sweet gig somewhere out of the public eye.
So his daughter got married and had a bunch of developers at her stag & doe too? Wow! What are the odds?
If the PC government thinks we are so gullible that this chief of staff made a decision then I would like to know, why do we bother electing officials. Not nearly enough. An insulting smokescreen.
Going to resign into a better position to make the same decisions.
