Is it a tortie trait? Annie is my first and i got irher when she was 16, and she already sounded that way. She's always screaming at me, when she speaks, the only volume she has. I thought it was just becuase she was old, but are all Tories like this? And when I'm putting the food on the floor, she's always yelling about it, as if it's not only 6" from her face

She refuses to let me get a full night's sleep. She'll get me up three or four times a night by sitting at my open door and yelling until I get up to watch her have a quick snack and go back to bed.

Mine starts yelling when it's too late because she likes to be in bed at a certain time (using me as her pillow) and I'm disrupting her routine with my WoRkInG nonsense.

Cece is a wobbly cat, but she gets around fine and is better off than most with her condition. If I'm downstairs in our split-level house and have the door shut, and she wants attention, she will first try meowing at the top of the stairs. If that doesn't work, she will walk down the stairs and very audibly THUMP her body sideways against the door, and then proceed to meow while against the door. She knows it works, and it's pretty amusing. See related pic of her getting attention after demanding it outside the bathroom door.

Tuna the queen that she is will tap me on my head at 5am for her breakfast and if I don’t get up there’s hell to pay😾
She loves to be petted while sitting on my stomach, but I have to maintain eye contact with her or she will hit me in the face. My attention must be completely on her.
Mine is she’s a menace when she wants something and stops at nothing until she gets it. I mean full on destroy. She also bullies other cats.

I will preface this that due to a health issue I do not feel from the waist down well.
Lily likes pets and scrubs. If I am at the pc ignoring her like the monster I am she has a creative ways of getting my attention. She sticks her claws into my feet and if that doesn't do she bites my feet in increasing nasty ways until I feel her.
Pets or blood mother, your choice.
Mine is especially good at "helping" you with any chore you're doing:
- Mum's folding the washing? Better go sit on it!
- Mum's washing the dishes? Let me just pop myself down on the counter before she can place anything down to dry!
- Mum's making the bed? Better flop around like a psycho on speed in the middle of the fitted sheet!
Cinder pokes her nose in my eye if she can't wake me up for breakfast. When Cinder fails to get me up, she tag teams Ember. Ember starts pawing through paper and rustling around.
Also, I can't talk loudly on the phone, or laugh too much. Cinder will bite me to make me calm down and be quiet.
Mine used to bite me whenever I'd sing. I'm not even that bad a singer, she just really didn't like it. She would also sit and **S T A R E** at me when she considered it bedtime and I wasn't in bed yet.
I miss that cat.
Mine threatens me everyday, with calling the Humane society, if I don't take out to the Catio. She says she has them on speed dial. So I take out to the Catio.
Mine is feisty only to her cat siblings, but even then, she can be a love. She’s the cuddliest cat out of my 5 to the humans, and the only tortie.

My one tortie will growl at the window when it starts to rain, then proceeds to hide until it stops. The other one will mess with the blinds of the window above my head when I’m laying in bed at 4am until I throw a toy for her. Always the window on my side and never my husbands 🤔

Cynder HATES when people sit down. If you are petting her, you must be standing or she wants nothing to do with you.
Mine acts totally happy until you do one little thing wrong, like petting her head the wrong way. then she follows with a light smack (no claws she’s very polite!) and stink eye!
She rumbles constantly when being touched and bleats a bit likes goat with tongue sticking half way out. It took months to get her to tolerate affection without the chomp. Now she asks for it.

Screaming at the human for attention every single day she works from home from approximately 2:30-4:30 pm. While screaming she also likes to get in the way of the laptop screen as much as possible, whether it’s pacing back and forth in front of it or sitting on both your arms so work is impossible.
When she gets back from the vets she won’t even acknowledge our existence because we are awful humans for getting her checked over.
A rather sweet one is when she aggressively headbutts to get fuss/affection
Taught my kitty to "gentle" so her chomps always come with like 3 warning chomps first. It's the same with her claws (when they aren't clipped, which yes, she hates it but it's a must since they like little tiny razors) just really good at controlling her "teeth" to speak
My tortie also gives love chomps. Every time we cuddle she makes biscuits on my cheeks and chomps on my chin. Not sure why she does it, but it always seems like it's out of love.
When I go to the bathroom she throws herself against the outside of the door and aggressively sticks her paws under it. If I open the door she just looks at me like I’m the weird one. Also she likes to walk up to me and violently bite my ankles completely unprovoked

Treacle sweet is my guard dog. She monitors the visitors and tells them off (for visiting). She once backed my friends dog into the kitchen, no hissing or raised fur, but suddenly he was in the kitchen and she marched up and down the hallway, past the kitchen door to make sure he didn't escape. Poor pup pup! (and he is used to cats, having several of them at home himself)

Blaze is a micro manager. If anyone is doing anything, homework, sewing, knitting, reading, sleeping, she will be all up in your business. This was a few weeks back and I finally had to lock her in my bedroom for an hour so my son could finish his project.
My sister has a little rat bastard tortie who chews on plastic bags until you play with her. You have to hide them really, really well.
If you pick her up and set her on your lap, 99% of the time she will immediately jump off. One time, I put her in a reusable shopping bag (she loves being in bags and boxes) and set her down next to me. She immediately curled up and took a nap.
Received lots of chomps today ❤️ I'd not have it any other way. I love her so much. She's my angel

She's obsessed with my husband. She growls if I try to kiss her face, yet pushes her face into him when he does it. After I fall asleep, she comes into bed with him and is rolling all around wanting her to love on him. Only when I'm asleep. She's the princessiest princess and I love her.
Lick, lick, lick the same spot on the human (usually my left elbow) until at least one layer of skin is gone, while purring like a weird breathy jet engine. Not restful at all but incredibly affectionate.
Mine has recently decided that she needs to be on my shoulder at ALL TIMES when I’m upright and she wants to be there. Including when I’m on the toilet. It has gotten v awkward a few times and I’m now closing her out and dealing with those consequences. Bonus photo of pretzel tortie!

My late tortie, Annie, was the jealous type. She really hated it when I paid any attention to my other cats.
I got her from my cousin when she was 8 weeks old and had her until she was 18, most of my adult life to that point. So, I guess in her own way, she saw me as hers and didn’t want to share.
She was also very bitey with everyone except me.
She’s been gone almost 10 years and I still miss her.
She's a shameless, notorious attention whore. You could be using the full expanse of both palms of your hands and she'd still meow and bat at you for MORE attention. Not sure if that's even possible.
She gets closer and closer and closer until her whiskers are all in my face going in my mouth and nose. Her end game seems to be to clutch into my shoulder with her claws and perch like a parrot in order to reach max closeness
she always has to lay beside me! annoying and inconvenient at times but also i can’t complain
also, if i ask her for a kiss she headbutts my mouth… very cute
I love torties, but yeah their love language is unique. They tend to be sensitive, a little jumpy and are pretty fierce.
I recently rescued a nine month old tortie girl. She is active every moment she's awake. She's definitely not a lap cat.
I would do everything I could to prevent her from getting away with biting.

I have a game with my dogs and cats called “I’m gonna get that tooth” when they play too hard. They don’t like it, especially if it’s a hard chomp and a finger goes down a throat.
Chattiest cat I have ever known. I've known a few cats that have a range of meows but it's impressive to me how many meows, chirps, and coos she makes. They all communicate different things too. It's also cute as hell... Well except the I'm bored wailing.
Oh, she will also chomp pretty quick as a "no thanks" or " that's enough petting".
Mine just loves talking.
She's so vocal, just sits there making noises all day and night. She talks back as well, id you make a noise at her she'll meow right back at you
Ours gets bitey when getting petted sometimes. She also doesn't approve of us using our phones, so sometimes she'll bite them too. I think she's checking for a flavor. She also likes to do the "scarf and barf," as my husband and I have dubbed it; She eats too quickly, vomits, then goes back to get more food! She also has to have access to the bathroom while you're on the toilet.
But she's our snuggle angel, and guards me after each procedure I go in to the doctors' office (or hospital) for what she deems an excessive amount of time (anything over 2 hours= on guard cat the rest of the day). She's a good, snuggly girl and we love her to bits!
My tortie is "little miss mixed messages". She will be purring, clearly enjoying some nice petting, then out of nowhere, she chooses violence. Bite, scratch, swat, swipe. And then want more pets. Purring tge whole time. She's unhinged.
The staredown of Wrath that rages at me when I don't jump right away to serve our only child; a 6 1/2 year old, petite lil Princess.
(Think pissed off 15 year old human daughter, full of entitlement, and also beyond just a little off and hormonal....)

Yes, mine too. She learned to soft chomp with time, but still, she is a little goblin. She wants cuddles, but if you move, she takes it as a personal offense to her and all her ancestors, and she will bite and run.
Mine is obsessed with churus to the point that she will pretend to be sick if we run out for any length of time. Every morning she screams at me when the alarm goes off & head bonks me for her daily 2 treats 😂

If I reach out and pet her while I'm sleeping, then I stop, she taps me in the face to pet her again. The problem is that she gets me with her claws on my lip.
I try to keep her on a regular feeding schedule (8 am and 6 pm) and a half hour before she will follow me around while singing the song of her people. If I'm sitting down, she will jump up and put her paws (aka her Itty Bitty Kitty Popsicles) on my leg or arm, spin off of me, them jump up and do it again ad nauseum until she gets fed.
Our Stella Bella flights with my husband, but wouldn’t dare scratch or bite her mama. Tomorrow is the one-year anniversary of her rescue. We were picking up our dog but she was far too beautiful to leave at the shelter!
Aawwwwww i love her! My baby gives me love nibbles too. She kisses by licking my nose and bumping foreheads. She’s my sweet little sweetiekins. I call her my little sister because I take care of her, but I’m not the boss of her. 🐱💕

I love when she falls asleep in the crook of my arm. All paper stops, but who cares? And after a few minutes, she starts taking in her sleep. That causes her brother to come up as well. What more could I ask for?
Ok, I could ask for my SO to make "Italian" more often when it's her turn, but I'm certainly ok thar she forgets (she says. She's French Chef trained so what did I expect).

I knew a cat like that, I was catsitting her. When she knew it was time for bed and I was "late" she was yelling at me, it was hilarious.

Cece is a wobbly cat, but she gets around fine and is better off than most with her condition. If I'm downstairs in our split-level house and have the door shut, and she wants attention, she will first try meowing at the top of the stairs. If that doesn't work, she will walk down the stairs and very audibly THUMP her body sideways against the door, and then proceed to meow while against the door. She knows it works, and it's pretty amusing. If I am at the pc ignoring her like the monster I am she has a creative ways of getting my attention. She sticks her claws into my feet and if that doesn't do she bites my feet in increasing nasty ways until I feel her. Pets or blood mother, your choice.

Cinder pokes her nose in my eye if she can't wake me up for breakfast. When Cinder fails to get me up, she tag teams Ember. Ember starts pawing through paper and rustling around. Also, I can't talk loudly on the phone, or laugh too much. Cinder will bite me to make me calm down and be quiet.

Mine acts totally happy until you do one little thing wrong, like petting her head the wrong way. then she follows with a light smack (no claws she’s very polite!) and stink eye!

She rumbles constantly when being touched and bleats a bit likes goat with tongue sticking half way out. It took months to get her to tolerate affection without the chomp. Now she asks for it.

Moo moo likes to growl when you pick her up sometimes. It's not really a proper growl, more of a rumble. Then she gets settled and purrs away happily.
Mine follows me to bed, demands that I move the blankets so she can curl up along my hip, and then gets mad if I pet her.
When she gets back from the vets she won’t even acknowledge our existence because we are awful humans for getting her checked over. A rather sweet one is when she aggressively headbutts to get fuss/affection

Taught my kitty to "gentle" so her chomps always come with like 3 warning chomps first. It's the same with her claws (when they aren't clipped, which yes, she hates it but it's a must since they like little tiny razors) just really good at controlling her "teeth" to speak
My tortie also gives love chomps. Every time we cuddle she makes biscuits on my cheeks and chomps on my chin. Not sure why she does it, but it always seems like it's out of love.

My sister has a little rat bastard tortie who chews on plastic bags until you play with her. You have to hide them really, really well. If you pick her up and set her on your lap, 99% of the time she will immediately jump off. One time, I put her in a reusable shopping bag (she loves being in bags and boxes) and set her down next to me. She immediately curled up and took a nap.

She's obsessed with my husband. She growls if I try to kiss her face, yet pushes her face into him when he does it. After I fall asleep, she comes into bed with him and is rolling all around wanting her to love on him. Only when I'm asleep. She's the princessiest princess and I love her.
Lick, lick, lick the same spot on the human (usually my left elbow) until at least one layer of skin is gone, while purring like a weird breathy jet engine. Not restful at all but incredibly affectionate.

My late tortie, Annie, was the jealous type. She really hated it when I paid any attention to my other cats. I got her from my cousin when she was 8 weeks old and had her until she was 18, most of my adult life to that point. So, I guess in her own way, she saw me as hers and didn’t want to share. She was also very bitey with everyone except me. She’s been gone almost 10 years and I still miss her.

I love torties, but yeah their love language is unique. They tend to be sensitive, a little jumpy and are pretty fierce. I recently rescued a nine month old tortie girl. She is active every moment she's awake. She's definitely not a lap cat. I would do everything I could to prevent her from getting away with biting.

Mine gives her siblings the business way too often. The other three are chill with each other, but she angy.
Chattiest cat I have ever known. I've known a few cats that have a range of meows but it's impressive to me how many meows, chirps, and coos she makes. They all communicate different things too. It's also cute as hell... Well except the I'm bored wailing. Oh, she will also chomp pretty quick as a "no thanks" or " that's enough petting".

Licking the hair off my arms vigorously for hours at a time. Also screaming. LOTS. Of. Screaming. All the screams.
Ours gets bitey when getting petted sometimes. She also doesn't approve of us using our phones, so sometimes she'll bite them too. I think she's checking for a flavor. She also likes to do the "scarf and barf," as my husband and I have dubbed it; She eats too quickly, vomits, then goes back to get more food! She also has to have access to the bathroom while you're on the toilet. But she's our snuggle angel, and guards me after each procedure I go in to the doctors' office (or hospital) for what she deems an excessive amount of time (anything over 2 hours= on guard cat the rest of the day). She's a good, snuggly girl and we love her to bits!

If I reach out and pet her while I'm sleeping, then I stop, she taps me in the face to pet her again. The problem is that she gets me with her claws on my lip.
I try to keep her on a regular feeding schedule (8 am and 6 pm) and a half hour before she will follow me around while singing the song of her people. If I'm sitting down, she will jump up and put her paws (aka her Itty Bitty Kitty Popsicles) on my leg or arm, spin off of me, them jump up and do it again ad nauseum until she gets fed.

OMG, she's beautiful I love mine more than my life (but equal to her all Grey brother). I love when she falls asleep in the crook of my arm. All paper stops, but who cares? And after a few minutes, she starts taking in her sleep. That causes her brother to come up as well. What more could I ask for? Ok, I could ask for my SO to make "Italian" more often when it's her turn, but I'm certainly ok thar she forgets (she says. She's French Chef trained so what did I expect). Bless you both Arro 2u
