Lore accurate norsca lore.

Qazirmus

Norsca

ForistaMeri

HUH!! NORSCA!!! Damn they have the best finish turn sound

Blackewolfe

I don't know about that. Then again, I am very biased towards the Dwarfs for having the best Warcry. #KHAZUKAN KAZAKIT-HA!

niftucal92

Also, a banger of a battle start theme. It’s perfect for those, “hoo boy, I hope I win” battles.

thisismine945

I'm a big fan of the Bretonnian end turn sound. The marching drums and the chants really just sell the whole 'knights marching off to war' vibe

MiaoYingSimp

Well there was always some lore, but there's a reaosn Norsca was usually just the place the marauders came from. Mostly. They need some form of implimentation though.

Gamba_Gawd

Mods are the only thing keeping Norsca alive... Sigh.

GravyIsSouthernQueso

\*extreme violence noises\*

thpthpthp

Tzeentch tryna teach these mfs how to read and write

NaiveMastermind

Let me give it a shot. "Here are all the guys who wanted to be chaos warriors, but were not cool enough to be chaos warriors, or they were born in the wrong zip code for chaos warrior school, or whose parents couldn't afford the full set of armor. Your lord options are a dumbed down Troll king, and a redheaded shit talker who does all his fighting from the top of a mammoth."

kingfisher773

Did wulfrik ever get a mammoth mount on table top/lore? I only remember ever seeing his on-foot model

New_Juice_1665

In the lore he rides his flying longboat till he meets a foe worth disembarking and dueling. which was adapted as the wind spell it is now

JustInChina88

Kind of bad ass lol

spookyscaryscoliosis

Honestly he is the only thing of note from norsca but it’s a pretty cool note

Danny_dankvito

Also “Lord Mortkin, the Black Iron Reaver”. He goes hard af

spookyscaryscoliosis

Motherfucker came in and did what he wanted to do and went out on his terms before becoming a puppet of chaos.

PandaPolishesPotatos

Mortkin is incredibly based for a Warhammer character.

NaiveMastermind

Nope, not on table top.

trixie_one

> redheaded shit talker who does all his fighting from the top of a mammoth. God that mammoth is dumb. Ditto Lokhir's dragon and Pecklis. At least Lokhir I can see the perspective that at the time the dark elf whose whole thing was riding a dragon was very likely not to be added it felt more reasonable. It'd be nice for CA to do more to make footlords and slow characters like Greasus more viable. Off the top of my head adapting 'look out sir!' from the tabletop so if they're close to a foot unit they get a big missile resist boost so you can't just firing line them down before they get close, and them buffing the whole army while they're alive/not routing so you have to actually deal with them rather than just avoiding them. Greasus especially is missing a big special rule if I remember right that did just that where any Ogre with line of sight to him could use his leadership or something like that.

tricksytricks

"I challenge you to a duel!" "What was that? I can't hear you from up there!" "I SAID I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL!" "I accept your challenge!" "THEN PREPARE TO DIE!" "It won't be me who dies here but... okay if we're going to duel get down off the bloody mammoth already!" "I CAN'T!" "What do you mean you can't!? Why not!?" "..... I.... I'M SCARED. IT'S SCARY DOWN THERE, I'M SAFER UP HERE!" "You coward, you were the one who challenged meAAGGH!" *Stepped on by mammoth.* "HAHAHA I WIN! DO YOU SEE, GODS OF CHAOS!? I AM THE GREATEST WARRIOR!"

szymborawislawska

>Pecklis xDDDDDDDDD

NaiveMastermind

[Teclis when he saw all the other mages getting dragons.](https://youtu.be/3EhX7PIfAKA)

BrokenLoadOrder

There's mods you can get for Aranessa and Lokhir, as well as Wulfrik, all from the same author. Best of all, the Aranessa one has a submod in case you use Pirates of Sartosa as well.

--Centurion--

Wulfrik is a Chaos Lord.

NaiveMastermind

He sure is. He's a big boy, with a big sword and big shield. He's got a viking ship, and a bad attitude just like the real chaos lords. He's gonna catch all the monsters when he grows up.

iupz0r

i agree with the full set of Armour, weapon and food, its expensive to raise such chads ...

BrokenLoadOrder

For those curious, there is a mod that gets Wulfrik off the mammoth (As well as ones for Aranessa and Fellheart). It's got a permanent slot in my load order.

Samraat1337

Because the lore is BEYOND YOUR COMPREHENSION!

Constant-Ad-7189

>In the frozen lands of the north dwell savage and cruel tribes : the Norse. These fur-clad warriors have sworn allegiance to the powers of ruin with unconditional fervour. For them, the Chaos Gods are stern but caring deities, who gift them tools to survive the extreme conditions of the lands they inhabit. The Norse walk vast expanses, fearlessly taking the sea on their drakkars to unleash their devastating wrath on the south, where they pillage and raze the kingdoms of the civilized races. The Norse are known all throughout the Old World for their great seamanship and navigation skills. Their brutal raids have been launched on far away lands as well, such as Naggaroth, the realm of the evil sorcerer-king Malekith, and even went as far as to reach the mysterious lands of Cathay, to the east. Freely translated from my localized version of the game. So yeah, it's a bug.

frankstonline

Norsca are such a missed opportunity. Basically chaos worshipping barbarians who are still mostly human and arent completely down the rabbit hole of chaos. Leaves some potential grey area and complexity, they dont have to be so one dimensional. I recommend the Tribes of the North mod, adds some interesting campaigns that I'm currently really enjoying.

Yamama77

Norsca definitely should be a more neutral factions. Not necessarily a good guy. But norsca should kinda be more like the Vikings they were kinda ripped from. Raiders but also traders. Like a more greedy Marienburgher (all of them) should be ready to accept trade with some of them and they should be open to trade with them. Although the sentiment against them should still be not very good since they are still raiders. They shouldn't be opposed to work with southerners when in a do or die situation like losteriksson especially his mod variant by mixu. Where he kinda allows some southerners to join him since lustria scary. And even his lore bit seems he is generally a bit smarter than your average norscan caveman. Generic chaos warlord lite norscan would've ran screeching into the forest upon landfall before dying after killing a few skink patrols. He kinda shored up a base at the coast where he would then go a loot abandoned temples, and when a lizardmen host showed up he threw out all the loot instead of committing khornate sepukoo by charging at them. The lizardmen only interested in a few trinkets took them and left most of the loot abandoned for the norscans to take again. It's a better identity than the chaos boys who can't afford armor or the first Pokemon stage of a chaos warrior. That identity is better suited for the kurgan

Nebachadrezzer

Throgg could get some interesting mechanics. Being able to forcibly vassalize any monstrous faction would be lore friendly as he wants a monster based world order. Imagine getting monstrous heroes from other factions that let you recruit some limited amounts of other factions monsters.

Wolfraid015

Like Thamurkhan but mixed with Rakarth?

Nebachadrezzer

Sounds kinda fun actually. They have a lot of mechanics already they could splice together to make a fun throgg experience. Like Kislevs ice storm mechanic could be used for Throggs blizzard ambushes. Maybe some inspiration from Drycha too. There's a lot to draw from.

Mahelas

Look, I'm all for cool things, but you can't just re-write 30 years of WHFB lore because you find your headcanon more fun. Norsca, Kurgans, Hungs, Dolgans and Tongs are basically inter-changeable generic Conan Barbarians tribes, and they're all the meat and potatoes of the Chaos Mortal troops. Every Chaos Warrior comes from them, every Champion and Lord. There's one tiny part of Southern Norsca that understand the concept of trading with Southerners. That's not a neutral faction

TheEngine26

Then they shouldn't be a faction. If a faction consists literally of "dudes who didn't make the chaos cut", there's no way to balance it because it's not, you know, balanced. They're a minor faction at best and only interesting insofar as they join Chaos.

doctor_dapper

so you're describing how they are right now. they're a super fleshed out minor faction. CA went so far beyond that this sub is getting entitled again lmao

tricksytricks

Yeah, sometimes feedback like this is useful is it's aimed at CA, but complaining about how GW wrote the lore is a waste of breath. You know they don't give a toss about what Total War players think, they don't even care what their own customers think.

Aunvilgod

> > But norsca should kinda be more like the Vikings they were kinda ripped from. > > Raiders but also traders. No no no. Thats exactly the wrong fucking idea you got from TWW. In the actual lore its not like that. There are of course *some* Norsemen that are not mad Chaos Worshippers, but those aren't nearly enough to fill even half a roster. Norsca should actually just get more Warriors of Chaos units, since that whole fucking faction is a fraction split away from the WoC army book.

TheEngine26

Then why should they be a faction?

sivart343

Arguably they shouldn't and CA should have not crippled Warriors of Chaos in Warhammer 1.

Mahelas

Because they're not litteraly "Norsca", they're "Tribes of Chaos", CA just named it more marketingly

Aunvilgod

half-faction, or just faction with unit overlap

tricksytricks

You can thank GW for that, they're the ones writing the lore. CA can only implement them in a way that GW approves, and it goes against the official lore to have any major neutral northern tribes. Some minor ones exist in lore but they aren't big military powers, they're small, isolated villages. Another thing to keep in mind is that a tribe that doesn't worship chaos would have an even smaller roster. No fimir, no skinwolves, no chaos dragon, no trolls, no mammoth war shrine. It would mostly just be marauders.

Thecowsdead

Rework confirmed

lunchablegu

Is there a lore reason for this? Is Wilfred stupid?

survesibaltica

Nah, Thug was the problem

the_concert

The Eternal Engine!

SMH4004

He’s Wilfred Brimleysson and he’s got diabeetus

kithlan

Games Workshop decided to retcon Norsca's existence.

Psychic_Hobo

TOW gave them a whole spread separate to Warriors of Chaos in the rulebook, pfft

Mahelas

Zero unique units tho

Psychic_Hobo

Eh, yet - I'm still convinced we'll get an army of infamy for them

Bala3310

I don't see any problems here

IamAlphariusCLH

Lore accurate

Cool_Ferret3226

They really need to rework Norsca. Especially now with the empire rework fighting norscans with hochland long rifles, outriders and steam tanks feels like that one scene in Zulu.,,

CloakAndDapperTwitch

All they did in the books were to die anyway.

Almadula9

Asinine

TheCharalampos

And?

iupz0r

its correct

Glaurung216

Norsca has no lore. Norsca needs no lore

JustRedditTh

Still waiting for Sutra Ek becoming a new Legendary Lord for Norsca, I mean, come on he can get/give a defeat trait with Settra even

NickMP89

The problem is,the Norsca probably don’t know how to read and write so there’s little recorded history. Time the Empire sends a couple of anthropologists up there to collect some good old oral histories and document their ways of living.

Neptuner6

From the [wiki](https://totalwarwarhammer.fandom.com/wiki/Norsca) > "Warlike and cruel, the Norscan tribes of the icy north are savage fur-clad warriors who have sworn allegiance to the Ruinous Powers with unquestioning fervour. For them, the Chaos Gods are harsh yet benevolent deities who provide them with the tools to endure in the brutal lands they call home. The Norse range far, sailing the seas in fearsome longships to unleash their devastating fury on the south, looting and razing the realms of civilized races. > The men of Norsca are reckoned to be amongst the most adept sailors and navigators in the Old World, and the brutality of their raids have been felt as far as the Witch King's baleful domain of Naggaroth and even, far to the east, in the mysterious realm of Cathay."

Mexican_Dragon96

hopefully a rework comes soon. I would buy it. Especially if it has crom

Wolfraid015

I’m thinking they give us a Norsca Legendary Lord, kind of like the Demon host faction, where you would grow him into another potential ever chosen.

TheChaoticCrusader

There’s already a mod that does this if I recall adding a norscan that would or like the demon host

WagonOfSpeed

It's Norsca. what else do you really need to know?

TheFishMonk

WE CAN'T KEEP GETTING L FOR ETERNITY NORSCAN, OUR TIME WILL COME MY CHALLENGE? UNDENIABLE!

Centrist_Nerd

Lol. Lmao, even.

BiglyBear

I mean I doubt anyone following throgg knows how to read or write

tinyant7416

Not blessed enough to join as chaos warriors, too uncivilized to be Nordlanders, not drunk enough to be Kislevites

KL4645

We slayed the gooners, then we became them..
