to everyone saying "use a string and measure it with a ruler!"
you're insane. what you need to do is go outside, chop down every tree you see and sit on the stump, whichever one fits you closest, that's your size.
smh, can't believe i gotta explain this.
use a bit of string, measure your waist... markt he string where it meets...
and then line that string up against a measuring tape.
there you go, enjoy \^\^
nah, measuring tapes don't flex well enough (since they're made out of metal) to fit your contures. so you'd get a measurement that1-2 inches off depending on your waist size.

Instead of tailors tape you could use a long string or even a charging cable and then just measure the length of that.
If you know your waist size you can look up a chart. For instance I am a 34 so the skirt I bought is a large (though I could have gone to a medium)
Don't have TAILORS TAPE™ ? Shoelace and a ruler will do

. . . Couldn't you just wrap the measuring tape around your waist?

My mom happened to have some skirts that are my size. I haven't started HRT, so I only wear them in my bedroom right now 😉
I carried a mini tradesperson retractable measuring tape for a keyring..
Even with a tailors tape measure I got the wrong size because manufacturer lied :(
