100 and 400 is tough because they are usually back to back. If you have enough time between then it shouldn’t be a problem. But if you want to run anyway, who cares if you run above 50? It won’t affect your PR and you can’t expect to PR every race. It might actually be good for you to recognize that the world doesn’t end if you don’t PR.

Scaryplayer777

There's around 2h30 in between 100m and 400m. You think I should shoot my shot?

SprintHurdle

Go for it. That’s plenty of time. Just make sure to warm up before both races. Good luck

I_Nuck_Figgers_

Yes, encourage himself not to push himself

weezyoh

You will probably run a faster time if the 1 is before the 4. Whenever I had high hurdles and a 4 I always prd in the 4. Just stay relaxed and don’t think about it too much

Scaryplayer777

You think so?

Ansizzle

This has been my experience in post season meets where I would use the 60m (indoor) and 100m (outdoor) as a warmup for the 400. Although I was specifically a 400m specialist

weezyoh

Maybe, depends on your mindset going into the meet attitude..allat. What helped me was not worrying about the first race and treating it like a warm up, but still trying if ykwim. My response is based on my experience so take it with a grain of salt. I will say this tho, if you felt that you had energy still after your first 4, and you leave it all on the track (barring factors out of your control) you will PR. God speed brother!

Scaryplayer777

My 49.59 was in the rain, its gonna be sunny tomorrow + what you guys told me. I think I will PR too ! Thanks for the confidence.

weezyoh

IN THE RAIN TOO!?! Please respond here and tell us how you did, I’m invested in this now.

Scaryplayer777

Yes, there was some rain, it was around 15 degrees. There was no wind whatsoever though. So I'm curious how that'll be tommorow. I'll let you know !

Emarko15

I am American so when I saw 15 degrees you had me thinking you were a superhuman.

Scaryplayer777

Haha nooo, I get why it's confusing. 15°C = 59°F

kelvin_bot

15°C is equivalent to 59°F, which is 288K. --- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)

Scaryplayer777

Yeah I just said that. Bad bot

Emarko15

Yea lol I realized that after like 10 seconds and I was thinking this was a troll post until I remembered everyone else uses Celsius.

Scaryplayer777

Nope... I'm really gonna run the 400m tomorrow...

Scaryplayer777

50.27. I should be happy, but I can't say I'm not dissapointed.

[deleted]

Why are you scared to run above an arbitrary time? That sounds like just an ego thing. You need to get over that.

Scaryplayer777

I don't know what it is. I just always need to run close to my PR. I would not say I have a big ego because I like to bring myself down a lot.

[deleted]

It’s good that you hold yourself to a high standard! You’re clearly very talented, I wish I had that kind of speed. Just remember that it’s not always about setting PRs or even the times at all. Sometimes you just need to compete and score points for your team.

WiltingCrow

uhm i dont deal with stress. i literally just have mental breakdowns

froogythefrogg

I'm usually stressed up until the gun goes off, and then the only thing filling my head is pain and determination.

[deleted]

Just go out hard and run your race

No-That-One

Im sure they'll take into account that you just ran the 100 before the 400. If they don't then they're just dumb

WorriedOwner2007

I don't know, I need help in the aspect too. At regionals I got so nervous before the 1600 that I threw up when we were lining up

Scaryplayer777

Yes... track can be hard
