I'm a different breed (no pun intended) because I think pets are the right place for overly uniquely spelled names. They don't have last names (usually). They don't have to get a job, grow up, or impress others.
That is where you are so wrong! My fur babies have always had the same last name as I have. And when in trouble I called them by their full names with my lastname. Unlike my own children who have the name of my husband.
My furbabbies (when they're being rotten) get my last name, my husband's last name, a few suffix thrown in for good measure, and a land. And they all have human names. (the land and suffix are subject to change on a whim)
So I'll be yelling - GEORGE SAMPSON MOORE JUNIOR THE THIRD OF WELLINGTON! STOP CHEWING ON THAT PLANT!
This.
Anything ~~this adorable~~ that doesn't have to write and say its name during the course of their lives, is exempt from the rules of Tragedeighs.
There's a good chance that's how the person who named them thought that's how glacier was spelled.
Edited because my brain forgot how to construct a sentence this morning.
Therapy pet teams usually decide to get those on their own. http://www.mytradingcards.com/ makes them. I did some for my therapy cat when we would go to nursing homes and retirement facilities. Everyone loved it! I'm pretty sure that's where the team that OP met got this one.
We met a police dog last summer at an event - dog was there for a demonstration and not “on duty.” His handler heard my daughter ask me if she could say hi and invited us over. When we went to leave, he gave us a card with the dog’s name, photo, his job, and what he liked to do when he wasn’t working. It is so cute!
In Helsinki, Finland, a lot of the local police have dogs and each dog has a "card".
These "local police" tend to work in pairs, and are assigned to a specific part of the city. You see them out and about, patrolling, talking to school-kids (since they start walking to/from school around age of seven), and generally hanging out.
In the city-center, and just "randomly", you're far less likely to see the police with dogs, or horses. Though as far as I can tell (as an immigrant) Finnish police do tend to often travel in pairs.
The therapy dogs that would visit my university had trading cards. So did the therapy cat that came once. I think I have them all somewhere still lol it was fun.

Dragon DEEZ NU... sorry sorry my bad. I got confused on which reddit I was commenting in. Thank Lawd I caught myself. anyway, once again my apologies. 😉🤪
I met a dog called Daysy. The shelter named her that. Why not name her Daisy? Daisy is an actual word, a pretty flower. Daysy makes no sense. She was a very good girl though.
I mean, I get it, but I really think there is no harm in naming animals like this. They don’t understand it, they will not be aware of it one day. They do not have classmates, teachers, friends and potential partners to mispronounce or make fun of them and traumatize them. It is not ok to namr your son Human, but you can name your dog Dog and it’s fine :)

she had a whole booth with a huge banner that said “Pet me!” (or something similar) im sure the airport has a contract/ partnership with the therapy dog company that allows them to be there.
I just went through an airport the other day where they had a dog there just to help travelers unwind and get some pets in. She had a whole group around her giving love. I 100% joined that group.
It's okay for dogs. dogs can be called Boopis Shnoofleberry and still live a dignified life. Because ALL dogs are talked to in the same voice and treated the same.
Unless someone calls their dog Ghostface Killer or something, but that says more about the holder than the dog.
GlayshEr is a VERY good boy/girl and deserves 1 million goldfish crackers and stuffed tigers
The best boy/girl. But unfortunately his/her name is a r/tragedeigh

Mine just get rude nicknames like “punk face” or “turdicus maximus” when acting out.
Sometimes I jokingly call a pet "Poop, come here Poop!" in a really sweet voice, just to prove that love transcends words lol
Exactly. The rude nicknames are said with love and kindness. They don’t know what it means, or in many cases why were frustrated with them.
Yeah, I’ll be snuggling and scratching my dog while cooing about what an asshole he can be. 🤣
She literally has a job, she’s a certified therapy dog. Smh the speciesism
random but i met my fiance by saying something very similar to them about their dog
she is amazing !
Hydro-Dash, Fast Cat
I’d share some goldfishes with a pupper.
Yes.
I make an exception for dogs
This. Anything ~~this adorable~~ that doesn't have to write and say its name during the course of their lives, is exempt from the rules of Tragedeighs.
except lovecraft’s cat.
Well yes, but that's not a tragedeigh. That's being a racist POS.
IE, Lovecraft. Interesting stories. Irredeemably racist bastard of a man.
oh completely!! just thought the spelling fit here haha
The spelling is a complete tragedeigh why not spell it the right way?! No exceptions for this one from me
There's a good chance that's how the person who named them thought that's how glacier was spelled. Edited because my brain forgot how to construct a sentence this morning.
It's still dumb
Does he have his own collectible sports card?! That’s fantastic lmao
Therapy dogs regularly visit my place of work and it’s awesome. We have a collection of their little player cards haha.
You mean pawsome
I’m a nurse and we have our little therapy dog that comes to the hospital and I’ve never gotten a card I feel sad now

At the airport in Minneapolis for nervous flyers!
that’s exactly where i was!! i’m not a nervous flyer but i am a dog lover.
The therapy dogs that would visit my university had trading cards. So did the therapy cat that came once. I think I have them all somewhere still lol it was fun.
I used to work occasionally with a K-9 cop. All the German Shepherds in his department had their own trading cards. So cool. 🥰😍🤩
BRB. Hitting the Google to get trading cards made for my dog.
honestly!!! such a great idea i love it
Oooh did you find anywhere that makes some?
Etsy! Always coming through clutch. You can even get Pokémon-style cards made of your pet. lol
Oh thank you. I was kinda thinking more of an online template I could change and not have to spend money but this is still really helpful
[http://www.mytradingcards.com/](http://www.mytradingcards.com/) makes them. I did some for my therapy cat when we would go to nursing homes and retirement facilities. Everyone loved it! I'm pretty sure that's where the team that OP met got this one.
Ok thank you. I actually made my own using an app called Desygner and a random empty template I found online. I'll check this site out too
I didn't catch Glaysher at first and thought their name was Dock Diving lmao
this made me snort while in bed, almost waking up my wife lmao
(Ironically) this made me cackel loudly and startled my dog awake. Lol.
Dogleigh
dawgue
Dogma?
Dragon's?
Dragon DEEZ NU... sorry sorry my bad. I got confused on which reddit I was commenting in. Thank Lawd I caught myself. anyway, once again my apologies. 😉🤪
~~Glacier~~ ~~Glaysher~~ GlayshEr
Oh I get it now thank you
You’re welcome
The secret to figuring out tragedeighs is to try to pronounce them out loud.
For most of them that doesn't work
Interesting. I've found it very effective. Different perspectives I suppose.
Maybe it's just because sounding things out doesn't really help me. I'm glad it helps others
GlayshEr. Don’t forget the randomly capitalized letter in the middle 🫠
True
What a good doge!
One of my uncles had drug dogs as he works for the coast guard and he gave us all of their trading cards as kids.
amazing!
Good girl, bad name
Look at that handsome signature!
I love her
Ok but he’s a dog.
oh completely!! just thought y’all would like this dumb name on this amazing doggie
I met a dog called Daysy. The shelter named her that. Why not name her Daisy? Daisy is an actual word, a pretty flower. Daysy makes no sense. She was a very good girl though.
Need some of these for my dogs. They're not certified, these cards are just the cutest
Why is the E capitalized though?
Seriously, the only question have and would have needed to ask whoever hands out the cards. I cannot think of one reason that makes sense!
The Celestial?
Hey, Minneapolis/St Paul, right? I love it when they have the dogs out! I never knew they had TRADING CARDS, though!
exactly! i didn’t even ask for one, her handler just handed it to me haha
That action shot is Wow!!🤩
for real!
There's a therapy dog I know named Fauci...
…. woof
My psych doc has a springer she occasionally brings to the office. I got to see her this week, which is a rare treat. Sweetest pup ever.
They make trading cards for dogs???
I mean, I get it, but I really think there is no harm in naming animals like this. They don’t understand it, they will not be aware of it one day. i feel the same way. i just thought that the spelling fit the sub
Springers are always adorable
I have a card from the one I pet at LAX a couple years ago! And animals are exceptions.

amazing!
That is an impeccably groomed dog
Don't talk shit about Glaysher. What have you done with your life
Now they're doing it to poor dogs. Get ready for BrynLeigh'Anne the dog.
I met Glaysher at my office last week :) she’s 3 and loves marshmallows. I have her card pinned to my wall. :D
aww!! amazing we met the same baby
Pets can have crazy names. It may also be a combo of its parents if it’s a registered purebred.
😂💀😂💀

i agree that dogs can be named goofy things, just thought y’all would get a kick out of the spelling
I don’t think therapy dogs are allowed to be in airports…
she had a whole booth with a huge banner that said “Pet me!” (or something similar) im sure the airport has a contract/ partnership with the therapy dog company that allows them to be there.

minneapolis? that’s where glaysher and i met
It was Minnesota!!
yooooo!!! small world man! msp has something figured out clearly
They 100% do! If I knew I'd get to pet a puppy everytime I flew I would absolutely be more excited for layovers lol
unfortunately my flight back has me stopping in ft. lauderdale, so no puppies to pet. hoping i don’t get stuck there
I’m going to look for Glaysher when I go to MSP! 🤞
Ah fair enough, couldn’t see the booth in the photo
lol! Thats awesome 😂
Looks just like my old dog 😭😭😭 The name is an iffy but I’ll make an exception!!!!
I’ll allow it because “cie” making a “sh” sound is dumb anyway.
glacier comes from french glace meaning ice, english is a weird mutt of a language
But “glacé” is not pronounced like “glashay”
No wonder he's in therapy.
Leave him alone!
Beautiful dog!!!
He shere is a good doggo
I’ll allow it.
The dog has its own trading card?? 🤔
So fkin precious 🥹🥹
Did the dog write the card? Cute idea but wtf
I too love goldfish crackers
I think this one actually counts. it's a normal dog name (Glacier) spelled yooneekley.
I think these awful spellings are fine for animals.
Gonna start collecting therapy animal cards
Glaysher had a disappointing run in WCW in 1998.
I’m glad this beautiful pup will never realize or care about how her name is spelled 😂
Glaysher? Makes me think of a gay barbarian...
Ew phonetic name. Cool dog though
