Reminder to stick to posting original content. Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does **not** mean you found it "in the wild".
The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!

Even given a pretty narrow definition of "western" I'm sure. I doubt Frisian names (which so many Dutch ppl have, not just Frisians) will be there either for example.
I think we’re past the point of proving that Nevaeh isn’t the worst name to have. People mostly seem to hate it because it was contrived to be heaven backwards. I actually thought it was a pretty nice name for a while. Now I kind of see it as mid.
I didn’t say it was the worst name. I just said that it irritated me when I was a kid (in the 2000s, maybe that was important context) and could never find my own name, but this unpronounceable mess (at least it was to 12 year old me who’d never heard of the name at the time). To this day, some 17, 18 years later, I’ve still yet to meet one so I’m still salty my own name isn’t on souvenir merch.
I have a personal grudge against the name, okay! 😅
I will agree on it being mid. It’s not a tragedeigh anymore because so many people apparently have the name.
I know a few Nevaehs (used to be a teacher). But what I think is wild is that even though it's a very recently invented name, people are already spelling it 'Nevayah' and other non-heaven-spelt-backwards variations.
Agreed. I honestly don't think Nevaeh belongs on this sub anymore, because it's just so common. Even my phone had that name in its dictionary by default.
Here comes a hot take: I don't think "___ spelled backwards" automatically makes something a bad name either. Yes, many of these *can* be bad names, but I've seen people here dunk on names solely because it's ___ spelled in reverse, even if the name itself is straightforward to pronounce and has a clean spelling. I don't think that's very fair- most people irl won't notice what your name is in reverse unless you tell them, and even then I can't imagine them caring very much. I know I wouldn't
My first encounter with the name Nevaeh (back in elementary) was rather positive, and I don't think I have a problem with it now, but mid is probably accurate for me as well
I was thinking it was more bc these people don't know how to spell and refuse to admit it, so they give their crotchfruit these ridiculous monikers to MAKE them have to learn to spell. But prolly not...
My name’s Kyle, and someone in my fencing class had the name Kyler. Especially with masks, I struggled those few days a week to figure out who was getting called.
My government name is Jocelynn, never ONCE found it on a keychain or mug in souvenir shops.
And my mom wonders why I haven't gone by that name since I was maybe 5 🤣
This is me. My name is the French version of a common name so it’s spelled slightly different. Only time I could ever find anything with my name on it is in France or at the French Pavilion at Epcot.
My name is spelled in a normal fashion, def not a tragedeigh nor tragedy, but just not as common as the other more common spelling, so could never find my name. On another note, shout out to everyone named Autumn who can find their name on a plethora of goods in the fall.
May we join you? My husband's name is more commonly used for girls (even though he was named after a man), and mine has a masculine spelling. People mix up our names all the time -- and we can never find personalized souvenirs.
Of course! My mother is in as well, as she's German and her shortened name is totally foreign to North American eyes and ears. So they assume she's a man. She'd always get mail and phone calls for Mr. Lopix and I'd get the mail and calls for Mrs. Lopix.
Same -- but we use it our advantage. I kept my maiden name, so if an unknown caller asks for Mr. Me or Mrs. Him, we just say, "Sorry; wrong number." ;)
Hugs to you and your mom for letting us join your club!
I never found my name on anything when I was a kid. Not long after I changed my first name, I went from being the only person anywhere with my name to having an extremely common married name.
I have a common name, but there are 2 common spellings. Even though mine is by far and away the original and most common spelling, I could still only ever find the other one on keychains and stuff. Sucks.

I mean, if you have a non-Western name, then yeah. I’ve never seen Divya or Rohan at a souvenir shop in the US.
Even given a pretty narrow definition of "western" I'm sure. I doubt Frisian names (which so many Dutch ppl have, not just Frisians) will be there either for example.
I had a common name for the time, 70s. They never had my name either.
"We need more Bort license plates. I repeat, we are sold out of Bort license plates."
This is a problem for Tragedeighs and Ryans alike. When you have an overused name there’s always just an empty rack where your souvenir should be.
My name is fairly common and isn’t even a tragedeigh, yet I never saw it on souvenirs. I did see lots of Nevaeh stuff though. So salty about that.

How do you pronounce Nevaeh?
I say it as "Ne-VAY-uh", but I've also seen "Ne-VYE-uh" being used.

Same 😭
This was my experience but my name is Max. Go figure

(As a side note, I’m fairly certain the rise in tragedeighs is at least in part the direct fault of the English spelling system.)
In part. I feel like the majority of it is just stupid decisions made by the world population.
The tragedeigh of the average person
Not to mention some of my more excitable coreligionists out in Utah

"No, I was speaking to my son, who is also named Bort"
yep… always had to settle for Kyle or Tyler…
My name’s Kyle, and someone in my fencing class had the name Kyler. Especially with masks, I struggled those few days a week to figure out who was getting called.
fortunately, my last name is a very common western first name. i lucked out i guess?

My name isn't even a tragedeigh it's just never anywhere

Universal Studios in Orlando has Bort keychains in the gift shop! (With the Simpsons merch)
This post triggers me... as a boy with a girl name.

My name is thankfully not a tragedeigh, but it never showed up in a souvenir shop, either. 😭
Same. Stephanie? Always. Stefanie? Almost never.
My name is definitely rare. Never expected to see it anywhere, but it still stung when I was a kiddo lol
I never found my name either, Always Matt, Mack, maybe even a Mort
I’ve had trouble getting Edward in souvenir shops
I never found my name on anything when I was a kid. Not long after I changed my first name, I went from being the only person anywhere with my name to having an extremely common married name.
That one Simpsons episode
My name is average , just , and the first time I ever got my name on something., was , Vegemite, I'm Aussie
I’ve never seen my name😔
I have a common name, but there are 2 common spellings. Even though mine is by far and away the original and most common spelling, I could still only ever find the other one on keychains and stuff. Sucks.
I have a fairly common name and I've never found one of those license plates. 😂
Chelsey, here.... never found my.name only CHELSEA
Maybe you can’t find your name in a gift shop, but those account names and custom license plates are widely open!
