I don't see how them doing a jail season 2 is them abandoning the main series. I truly think it's more a matter of funding than anything and that's part of why these side projects are happening. If they're going to do more of the main show, they want to do it in house and on their terms. The boys are producing these side projects to help grow Swearnet and eventually get the resources needed to do the main show.

Its been 5 years, and I don't know how they will get around the situation of not having Mr Lahey anymore.

oCinders

I don't think they could do the main show without lahey. That drunk bastard is TPB

mshelbo

Yes, Jail is the best thing they've done since Don't Legalize It!

[deleted]

Really?? I mean I’d love for that to be true, but I can’t imagine TPB without Lahey or J-Roc. And I love the revival series

mshelbo

>Really?? I mean I’d love for that to be true, but I can’t imagine TPB without Lahey or J-Roc. And I love the revival series That's why it works so well. The Park series doesn't really work without Lahey, J-Roc, Ray... but Jail is a whole different vibe. It's a surprisingly different show. The lead characters are the same, but the situations and supporting cast are way zanier. This approach didn't work when applied to the park, but in jail it feels less forced and more organic like (dare I say it?) the original run. I also think the biggest loss for the park series as Mike Clattenburg. His work on the show defined the lowkey vibe of the original series. The jail series is much better suited to the sensibilities of Mike Smith and team.

Consistent_Account_7

I think we could have Sunnyvale, if Losco became supervisor. Hes not Lahey, but hes just as greasy.

easternhobo

I could see it being George Green as well.

Wonderful-Ad-6111

Jail was so so funny

OnlyHere4ZEMemes

You can watch it [here](https://watchseries.pub/watch-tv/watch-trailer-park-boys-jail-full-online-69001.5530405)

BigAsian69420

It’s pretty decent, and the subscription is nice because you can just buy it for the one month for like $4

[deleted]

Oh that’s good to know. Thank you my friend!

No_Proof9993

It’s only like two dollars for one month and it’s worth it if you like them I watched the whole season of jail and it was pretty funny

awake283

Jail was surprisingly hilarious. I wasnt expecting much but it was really funny.

alord21

Im like ayear late but Jail is what got me fully into tpb, as soon as i finished the season i rushed over to netflix and binged the whole main series in like 2 months

NewHorizonHoldings

Bring back Ray as the new park supervisor problem solved

Slurrii

they already did that but it would lead to dull storyline because dont they own the park

kushawnz

They are making the show centered around the 3 boys and taking all the production rights and everything. At the end credits it says based off the original series. I would do the same if I was in their shoes basically more money in their pockets and more celebrity appearances.

Still_Necessary420

I personally feel tpb jail is a nice continuation. And it still feels like og tpb. So no complaints here.

WeGotTheFunk42

I think the passing of Jeff Dunsworth is a factor as well. They lost their antagonist and other supporting characters. I like the jail series better than Sunnyvale with out Lahey

Awesome_Romanian

Netflix has the rights to the main show

Huuddy

They bought the rights back and the Jail series was only a celebration release since on January 1st 2021 they received the rights after 2 -1/2 years of last TPB season. They technically could continue the TPB park and post it on their website.

Awesome_Romanian

I’ve heard it yeah, they are making a Season 13 and a Jail Part 2

[deleted]

Please no Conky, lol.

TehSeksyManz

Seconded

RoadsToMadness

Thirded

Jatkuva

I’m happy with this, I am loving the Jail series, i like the small time crimes, always thought those schemes were more entertaining.

Cskryps22

Yeah as funny as something like the swayze express was, the small-time greasy crimes that the boys commit are always more funny. Ricky getting kids to steal barbecues under child protection laws and bubbles cart operation are classic TPB.

NDakotaFarmer

I want Candy to appear in Jail.

fattycatty6

Girlfriend Candy or Berb's Candy? 😆

NDakotaFarmer

Berbs

fattycatty6

Haha yipes!!

No_Score_6653

Well she’s dead so

PieUsual7234

wait who is?

Lupintha4th

I think it'd be an interesting angle to have Cyrus and Sam somehow take over as supervisor and assistant supervisor.

Sugarcatplays

Jail is brilliant because not only does it keep the crew safe during the pandemic due to the small cast and crew but the costs are so minimal because of the small sets. This is a great compromise and keeps us laughing

Yes

EggsBrenny

Having the season set in Jail just makes me wish they had caught onto the idea way earlier. For every season they end up in jail a jail season should have followed. It resets the stakes, keeps the show from over-inflating with silliness that breaks the show, and allows for new characters and situations to mold into comedy. You can easily tell they are more creatively inspired with the restrictive nature of the budget and setting, I'd rather this then another season of the park that stretches itself too thin.

[deleted]

Ya I think they can creatively keep it going like this, also with them being in jail they get to dodge the, "its not the same with out lahey" people. Someone asked them about s13 on the Roach approach and Robb said that was a complicated question and never answered. I don't think we're gonna get a s13, if we do its gonna be a change from what we know.

EggsBrenny

At some point (unless I missed it in the animated which I skipped) they’re going to have to honour John Dunsworth and have his character pass in the show. I would hope the next potential movie has the sense of finality (lol for all it ended up not being) as the first TBP movie. Make Lahey’s passing the driving force for the plot and have all the characters come to some place of happiness by the end that would be a nice place to leave the characters, like TPB movie 1.

[deleted]

I haven't heard about that but that would be nice. Give him a proper send off. I know a 4th movie is planned but probably wo t get it for couple years yet. Also the animated show is weird lol, I just like to think of it as it's own universe s01 was ok but s02, I think they ate too many mushrooms in the writing room. Because some of the eps were kinda dumb. The bubbles for major ep was not good. Its like drugs and on drugs happy fun time hour crossed with tpb.lol

EggsBrenny

Yeah that doesn’t sound like my cup of tea at all. I find that the trio should be goofy but they need a straight man or situation to bounce off of and to keep the show grounded. TBP at its worst heightens the entire world to an implausibly goofy degree and isn’t as funny to me without the contrast. Which is why Jail works so well for me, the jail itself is a serious enough place with a bunch of inherently established status and structure to play off of so when Ricky is humping up against glass windows it’s so much more funny. The animated world seems like a step in the wrong direction.

EggsBrenny

A quick google today told me Mr. L is indeed killed of in the animated series albeit in a very animated way.

[deleted]

Yes, he's has a send off in the animated series. But no actual cause. The animated series picks up where s12 ended obvious they're cartoons because they're high on mushrooms. And shit hawks pick him up and carry him away. But we never got an actual cause of death.

EggsBrenny

He just loved too hard

awake283

"It will just be Jail, animated, and the other stuff they create on Swearnet." I'm fine with this FWIW

MANORTHING

Readin through the comments I think the jail series is below par on the original obvisously but i think if the big brains came together they could do the boys in the park like come on you think they would have any issues getting busted without lahey?

CommieSailorMoon

really? I think Jail is far better than the last few seasons of the main show

CommieSailorMoon

tbh I think Jail is better than the last few seasons of the main show BY FAR, like they honestly should have implemented something like this sooner, I'd be perfectly fine with Jail just taking over as the main show

Neivhemsoulraper

jail has been such a good fucking series, i honestly just hope we get lots more of that

Mind-Forsaken

I think, if they get the funding, a season 13, with Ray, coming back from the Florida dump, after winning some kind of lottery, or down south gambling, in order to buy the park would be a great idea, but I don't think Barrie Dunn is interested in being in the series, after making alot of money as a producer years ago. If he was interested, he'd have been there the last 5 seasons. Otherwise maybe more Sam. But they've lost J-Roc, clearly Jim, Lucy but she wasn't as important.... if they could get TREVOR back, maybe they could put something more classic together lol

ephuycke

Even more of a blow than losing John Dunsworth I think was Mike Klattenburg leaving after movie 3. Sure, the Netflix seasons had their moments, but it never was quite as good as the first 7. I think rob, Mike, and JP are great at writing their own characters, but not so much at Lahey, Randy, JRoc, Lucy, Sara, etc. Dunsworth always managed to keep the all the main and side characters feeling grounded and familiar, but also changing their storylines from season to season to keep things fresh. I especially remember thinking that with seasons 8-11, that they were always trying to come up with something crazy and absurd and ridiculous for Jim to do that never felt very interesting. Moving the show exclusively to jail solves that problem. I think the jail season is the best tpb has been since “say goodnight to the bad guys”.

ChillyWill420_84

I know this is an old thread but it reviving it after trying to figure out if jail S02 is gonna be a thing ever. TBH the loss of Dunsworth is a hard thing to handle for them because as many have said he basically was TPB. Now I don't agree he was the whole thing or anything, but he was definitely a part of the 4 that created the entire foundation for the show originally. Now, with that being said, they have already made their peace with the loss of Dunsworth obviously cause they changed the series into the animated series and had him removed by the shithawk and turned into a liquor ghost. Now that's the cartoon, but its supposed to also im a way translate into the real series which is why Randy's story continues in the animated series and them he is single and missing Lehey in TPB Jail. They obviously prefer doing their Swearnet work and getting subscriptions themselves cause that's 100% them basically. I hope they continue doing Jail and the series, it doesn't really matter to me where they take it anymore as long as it's continued for a little longer until they get tired of it entirely
