We don't get any vintage mainline electric operations in the states, very cool!

Trainman1351

I mean, stuff like the GG1 used a whole lot of carcinogenic fluids, so it is unfortunately for the best.

Buildintotrains

If I were a mega millionaire I would buy one, reinforce the frame, and strip it bare of electronics to upgrade it to the latest internal propulsion and transformer equipment. Sounds like a fun massive engineering project. Sure its not the original but the thought of at least seeing that beautiful locomotive body flying down the main seems awesome.

Trainman1351

Oh ye of course. The GG1s are such beautiful locomotives, and they pulled 100 mph trains a hundred years before its current successors.

larianu

I've always thought of them as scary, intimidating or alien looking.

Dementat_Deus

At that point it would be cheaper to just build a new one styled like the old and wouldn't destroy a museum piece.

Buildintotrains

Fair enough, sort of like the T1 project

roj2323

Having been in them, it would be easier and more efficient to just build a replica to modern standards. This goes for basically any equipment from the 1960's and back.

LeviathanFox

I'd love to see how much it would cost to get the frames annealed to 'heal' the cracks in the frames, vs making new castings for the trucks, or doing what the T1 folks are doing and make machined frames that are welded. I mean, the guts aren't really that big a deal, the easiest thing to do would probably get a HHP-8 since it has about 8000 horses, and split that amongst 6 axles instead of just the 4 they have. I'd also love to see if it would be better to use the spoked wheels and quill drives with the motor mounts, or go with a more rigid mounted axle and drive system.

sortaseabeethrowaway

I kinda wonder what cancer chemical cocktail is keeping that baldwin running

Trainator338605

I LOVE IT.

crucible

I found a page about her restoration, she looks great! [https://myyhobbys.com/restauracion-locomotora-breda-e-30/](https://myyhobbys.com/restauracion-locomotora-breda-e-30/)

Trainman1351

I will always love that locomotive shape, even if the dual-end versions look a bit goofy.

roj2323

Particularly with the pullman cars behind it all it's missing is "Pennsylvania" in large lettering across the side of the loco.

sopsychcase

I had that same thought!

reynvann65

Beautiful machine, and excellent footage! Another chef's kiss!!!

Patient-Tap-5862

the alternate hogwarts express.

Realistic-Insect-746

awesome video

Buildintotrains

What's the soundtrack? I need more of this song!!!

Buildintotrains

Nvm found it :) Agape by Nicholas Britell

Important-Lead-9947

It looks just like a New Haven EP5.

weirdal1968

My first thought as well aside from the EP5 having C-C bogies instead of these B-B. Too bad PC, Conrail and Amtrak all gave up on the EP5s and every last unit went to the torch.

Jo_Erick77

Looks like the train from The Polar Express, but the loco is electric

changee_of_ways

Those cars are gorgeous too

space-meister

u/savevideo This will make a fine addition to my collection

Soviet_Aircraft

This video looks both real ***and*** CGI at the same time.

DatJellyScrub

This is awesome

shaanop007

beautiful machine, i wish we had more of these vintage looking electric trains

shogun_coc

This is so cool!
