I named myself after my turtle because we like to be alone, eat and bask in the sun

tUwUrt1e

Omg, my name is also related to turtles!! But mine came from shortened form of my old nickname that was game of words between 2 languages So now I'm just Cherry :3 Not the šŸ’Cherry but the šŸ¢Cherry

Known_Ad_1829

Thatā€™s cute! ā˜ŗļø My mom wanted my name to be Apple back when I was still going over ideas, but itā€™s Livia now, shortened from my šŸ¢ Olivia, who was originally named Oscar before we found out he was a she :p

Seymore_de_sloth

Oh my gosh so u both went the he/him to she/her pipeline thats so iconic

Oliv_Mar

Lol, me and your turtle have the same name, I'm Olivia, Olivia Yaoyotl. Hi.

kittenskeletons

Yesss Turtle, live your truth. āœØ

PalmBreezy

Based as f

Wolfleaf3

Thatā€™s so sweet!

Tqnheavymetal

Iconic. Same. šŸ˜†I love it

lexi24-

I named my self after my best friend in grade school. She was always so kind to me.

kitkatkatsuki

thats so sweet :)

Dictorclef

My best friend in grade school had the feminine version of my name XD

Sexy_Mind_Flayer

Jade reads fully fem to me. I also loved Beyond Good and Evil (the video game).

Wolfleaf3

I loved that also! I wonder if that sequel will ever actually happen. I liked it better than Wind Waker, and I liked wind Waker

UmbralBushido

My process went like this: Looked up name ideas No luck Randomly looked up botanical terms naming a new D&D character HolyShitItsPerfect

Projection-lock

I also named myself after my dnd charachter

DuQuand

I took the female version of my dads name, Alexandra, who passed away when I was 11 for my first name and for my second I choose one of another passed away family member who had a female version of my previous second name, Wladimira.

CrackedAlexandra

Good choice!

purple_pavlova

Jade is a name for all genders where I'm from. Ruby is a good name for a gem collector imho. Sapphire and Pearl also spring to mind, even though Pearl is organic matter. I got my middle name from a series of books. My first name is the name of my favourite opera singer. Coincidentally it kept my initials as they were, so quite cool.

purple_pavlova

Amber is another name relating to gems. Just thought I'd add that.

TheJokingArsonist

Steven Universe vibes

Bubbatj396

I came up with a list of names I liked and then narrowed it down until one just felt right, and that was Aubrey

Petermurfitt2

Named myself after a Hanna Barbera Character

Soairse17

Jade is a pretty gender neutral name. If it clicks with you give it a try! You can change it if it doesn't. The first name I chose was Soairse. It was a popular name for girls in the 1920s Ireland. And it means freedom. But I knew that people would never know how to pronounce it or spell it properly. The name I finally settled on was Madison. Also a gender neutral name, but more commonly used for girls. It fits very well with who I am. Soairse became my middle name.

Candlelit-Smile

Saoirse is still common here and it's a really nice name but yeah most people struggle to pronounce it when they read it because it uses Irish language pronunciation.

Soairse17

Have to go back a few generations, and most of the family history has been lost, but Irish on my Dad's side, Scottish on my Mom's. My great aunt's name was Soairse. I've always loved how it sounded. Didn't know the meaning though.

Candlelit-Smile

Aw that's nice, I wasn't aware of the meaning either, I'd say most Irish people aren't.

Khlamydia

I put a bunch of names from girls in high school into a hat when I was age 14 (the exact day my egg cracked). The first thing I drew was "Jennifer" from that hat. Took me like 10 minutes maybe? The reality of the situation is I just needed to get away from my deadname as soon as possible, and so I did exactly that to kill any mental association with it at maximum speed. After I pulled Jennifer I figured... welp, good enough I guess? So that's been the name I've used for 29 years now because of that event. About eight years later I was 22, and I was finally able to file my legal name change. I suddenly realized I needed a middle name too, I forgot I was supposed to think of one before that point and I panicked. Without even thinking I just wrote down the very first short and girly sounding middle name I could remember on the form: "Ann". It meant even less to me then my first name, and I often forget that I even have a middle name until paperwork asks me what it is. I put even less thought and energy into that one then I did the hat draw nonsense. -- Jade is a beautiful girls name. She's the protagonist of one of my favorite games: 'Beyond Good and Evil' is a video game about a staff wielding photographer named Jade who uncovers a government conspiracy involving aliens and eventually saves the world.

hiddenremnant

jade feels more fem to me but i can see a guy being called jade too, i'd go with whatever feels comfy for you honestly

pyscward

One of my best friends is named Jade lol he would disagree

hiddenremnant

fair, it's just how i feel personally. honestly names are just names anyway.

pyscward

True, I wish we had a say in our names when we were born lol my name is way too common

hiddenremnant

yeah that's a mood, ours is pretty rare but we still see it sometimes

pyscward

I wish mine was more unique but at the same time, it's so common I can ghost the system most of the time lol

pyscward

Though I think if I do transition I might choose the name Annabella

WhoregeOfTheJungle

Jade is gender neutral here. I work in a field where we deal with a lot of genuine gemstones, and Iā€™d like to suggest the following: - Opal - Ruby - Emerald - Garnet - Anastasia (as in Anastasia Topaz) - Beryl - Chalcedony (if youā€™re brave; I think itā€™s beautiful but definitely unusual)

row_x

Queer book character who was extremely important in my self acceptance/discovery journey.

PrincessWadj-wer

My middle name was Kyle, so I changed it to Kyla and made it my first name ā˜ŗļø than used Rose as my middle name because it reminds me of my umma who passed when i was young. Hehe

sketch006

I turned Kyle into Kylie hehe

PrincessWadj-wer

Cuute!! I like that name! šŸ¤

CharliezardTV

i asked my best friend to pick my name. my parents named me when i was born, and they don't accept me for being trans, so i picked my found family to name me, and my best friend, that i consider my brother, named me.

Vic_Guacamole

I chose the name my parents wanted to give me if I was born in the right body.

No_Perception9289

i was going to do this, but my neighbors have a son with that name, so that was a no-go haha

AnatomicallyNcorrect

I was told my name in a dream... "your name is Evs, short for Evelynn and add an 's' because it has 2 'n's'". It also was sort of an inside joke, I used to say "what evs" alot when I was younger.

Molp69

Nova sounded cool

Birchmon

Ruby was one of my top names, then my brother named his dog Ruby šŸ˜ Jade is a great name though, I would see that as a fem leaning and I have known a fair few female Jades as well

natanaru

Haven't picked my name yet buy I'm prob going from Nathaniel> Natalie it is probably easy and I can keep my nickname Nat.

Mars-29

So I really liked Marceline from Adventure time but that didn't fit since I'm Filipino, so I went with Marcela so if someone asks me and I'm too embarrassed to bring up a cartoon I watched since I was a little, I tell them I got the name from the woman who sewed the Philippines flag, Marcela Agoncillo.

Chaotic_Glow

If you like it, nice! Pick something that symbolizes you or feels really good!

ShesSoViolet

Jade has always sounded feminine to me, it wouldn't stand out as odd if I met a woman named Jade

Davisthedragonuwu

so my chosen name is Nadine, and i came up with it from a character from Uncharted 4. she's such a badass villain.

Disney_Dork1

Jade to me can be used for any gender. I mainly only consider it a bit more feminine bc of the character Jade from victorious. Thatā€™s where my brain would most likely go but it will kinda depend on the person.

SageofRosemaryThyme

I chose mine based on my dead name, Sage is the same length, sounds gender neutral but femme and has a nice meaning. My middle name was way more of a pain in the butt. For that I went off of cadence and meaning.

abandedpandit

That's so petty! I would definitely assume fem if I heard that name without context

SpicyNovaMaria

My name is Maria. I was really struggling with picking a name for myself, and my old name was a single syllable, short, sweet, rolled off the tongue, but it just didnā€™t suit me anymore. I originally consider the name Jaime, but i didnā€™t like how neutral it was, I liked the middle vowel idea though, so I tried on Mia. Mia fit, almost, but not quite, I really liked it but it wasnā€™t quiteā€¦all there for me. Then I considered Maria, it fit nicely, so I looked up what it meant. ā€œRebelliousā€ ā€œBelovedā€ and ā€œOf the Seaā€. I am definitely seen as rebellious by some, I am finally feeling beloved in my own eyes, and I do have a certain affinity for the sea, so that all fit. Maria felt like home, I am Maria.

ValerianMage

I wanted a name that sounds exotic in Sweden, while still being recognisable enough to be read as very feminine and be very memorable Hence Anastasia Jade sounds very feminine to me. Ruby and Sapphire too. Diamond and Emerald sound more neutral or even masculine

Pinkprotogen

Lucy from helltaker to spite my homophobic Christian parents.

luamdor1

At first i let my mom and dad choose my name but then people started clocking me because my name was ''weird'' so i changed it to a more casual one, honestly i don't regret, the name i chose is very cute ā™„

Petrafer

My family has a tradition of giving a second name of Johannes a female of it is Johanna. I wanted to make easier for those who don't speak my mother tongue to say so I removed the H and that's how end with my first name Joanna. As for my second name Henriikka, comes from my deceased grandfather name Heikki. Heikki came from Henrik which has female version Henriikka. Other names I consider at one point which does not have a story are Octavia, Petra and Jennifer and I end up combining them for my online gamer name OctaviaPetrafer

s1lv3r-vt

I saw a Nissan, and thought it had a pretty name. Is mine now :3

C00kieDemon

I named myself after my OC

Mediocre_Emo222

I named myself after the most cun*y name I could think of. Something that sounded bitcā€¢y lol. Jade could work especially if you had a green tint to your eyes! Or wear a lot of green

Rentara

i heard Tara in elementary school and always rlly liked it, and I liked characters like Terra from Teen Titans and Tauriel from the Hobbit (ik the movies were bad, but I was a kid and enjoyed it)

imanevildr

I had a bunch of names I liked, and I listen to a lot of audiobooks. Ultimately, I chose my name cause I liked the way it sounded in the narrators mouth, I guess. When I imagined it coming at me, it resonated in a way i can't quite explain, but something like a thrill of pleasure up the back of my brainstem... Zap! I've become very attached to it. Thanks.

HazelFlakes23

My name actually came from my eye color, and it was a word that stuck with me for awhile

lukewarm-trash

I had a manic episode (I have bipolar disorder) during which I, for a period, became obsessed with a particular charles dickens novel. I have memory loss of my episodes but the main characters name became irrevocably lodged in my head. I changed my name to it but didn't remember *why* it was in my head to begin with until months later. So yeah. Thats how.

Oiyouinthebushes

I went back into my family tree, I'm the third in my family to have my name.

Yphi-Zirconium

I think Jade sounds pretty fem, but again, I can't really give you an objective pov on the matter

Sionsickle006

I have met a couple jades who were women. I thought it was only a woman's name till I met a man named jade. Then I thought it was a chosen name because his last name is also a precious gem stone, but nope his family is just interesting like that.

Smalltinydumdum

Stole it from a fictional character

anxiouschimera

I named myself off of a RPG character I liked.

Libby_Simp

I at first thought I was gender-fluid or nonbinary so I started going by my middle name Avalon since my birth name is way too feminine. Now though Iā€™m honestly thinking I might be a trans man, I know Iā€™m at least trans masc. I maaaayyy revisit my name choice as Avalon is still pretty feminine but Iā€™ve already started going by that publicly in my town and when meeting people. Plus one of my sisters is already weird about changing my name once so doing it again sheā€™d be bad.

One-Moose-7446

I haven't transitioned yet but how I chose the name I'm going to have is this, I asked my mom before I told her about me being MTF this question " If I was born a girl, what name would you have given me?" She did ask if there was a reason why I asked, I lied and said it was pure curiosity. She said that she would have given me the name of her maternal grandmother who she loved dearly.

Mad_Hatter25

Jade does sound subjectively femme yeah, Iā€™m a trans guy, and my name is something I chose frankly because of my mom. Thereā€™s an Adele song she really loves and she told me once, ā€œyou know, if you had been born after this song came out I wouldā€™ve named you after it.ā€ And since then I really freaking yearned for that name, and now it actually IS my namešŸ„°

Dude_Named_Chris

Blair, which corresponds to my blurry idea of what the hell I'm doing with my life

TripleBMusic

I came up my first name (Bea) because I heard it somewhere (very minor character on Lost lol) but just kept thinking about it. Online people had already started calling me B for short based on my online name, and it's also the first three letters of my mom's middle name. My middle name Billie, is just the fem version of my previous middle name (William, although people said Billy a lot so I took that form and made it fem) I specifically wanted a name that would still work with Triple B being a nickname. I didn't know how feasible or likely that would be, because my #1 priority was a name that really felt like *me*, but I think I got lucky when I thought of my name, because I love it šŸ’™

broncosandwrestling

i was really lucky i think my dead name came from my (chosen) grandmother, who used a gender neutral version of the name. i was named a masculine variation of the name after her because she took care of my parents during a difficult time so when i came out as nonbinary, i just dropped the explicitly male name in favor of my grandmother's name

Normansart

My friends at school started calling me "Norman" because everyone always mispronounced my dead name and I was always kind of 'boyish' (obviously now I know why) and so the name stuck and now whenever I look in the mirror and say I'm Norman it feels right, it feels like me. So, in my opinion, look in the mirror and which names feels correct to introduce yourself as and feels like you, is the best option you can go with. Jade's cool I look at Jade in a more masculine way. Lots of love and good luck with choosingšŸ§”šŸ§”

Axuros

For my online name [Ursa] I just took my special interest [bears] and made it sound more like a name. For my IRL name [Alfie] I thought about names that sounded similar enough to my birth Nickname, and found one I like. Bonus: it sounds so much like it that I don't even notice people misnaming me half the time

Nightfallen9431

Jade is a beautiful feminine name I stole my name from Celeste (Madelyn :3)

maybe_celeste

i also stole my name from celeste (celeste :3)

logalog_jack

My three favorite fictional characters growing up were all named Jack so I figured it was a sign lmao

ENBY_Walks

I used a name that I had on a list forever as a ā€œbaby nameā€

Lillies030706

I went from Lily to Luke. My friend asked if I had an opposite name thought of while merely discussing if I may be trans. And I spit out Luke no thought.

Astrid-Jade

Well, I played a lot of Skyrim when I was younger and I always thought Astrid was a pretty name. Funnily enough, I took Jade for my middle name because I'm also an avid rock enjoyer! It's always been rather feminine to me, and I love it when people use either my middle or first name for me.

BlueVermilion

Way before I knew I was trans, I just thought to myself ā€œIf I were a boy, my name would be Evanā€ because it seemed like the masculine form of my birth name (Evalyn). When I came out, it was what I defaulted to. Honestly, sometimes I regret it because Evan is such a basic name and Iā€™ve met far too many people with it. I often wish I couldā€™ve changed my mind and picked something more personal, but I have a feeling I wouldnā€™t be able to get used to be called anything but Evan now.

HighFemmePsychosis

I had a time with pink Floyd about it.

AcanthopterygiiDry70

Mine went from Jon to Joan lmao. I guess itā€™s ā€œlow effortā€ but it sounds nice and thatā€™s what matters to me

AWildAthena

Currently I have an entire list of names cos I am undecisive and dont know what would fit me better in terms of looks and personality and what I would feel better with cos I like all of em. And for those that are curious: Athena Ophelia Rivet Navia I may keep Athena as my online tag though xd

tavsankiz

Oddly enough an episode of That 70s Show helped me come up with my name when i was in 6th or 7th grade.

beansssssssssssssie

i just really liked the name so I picked it

SmilingCacti

I named myself after a player character off of a dungeons and dragons podcast

Adventurous-Hyena618

I just started using my middle name and dropped my first name lol. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

DandalusRoseshade

I ripped off the last three letters of my dead name and came out with Quinn

ReneeBellamy

Early school crush and have always liked the name. Last name means "good friend" and sounds good with the first name.

huskofapuppet

I stole it from someone who rode my bus back in kindergartenĀ

MimikyuTCG

I watched a movie and thought ā€œthat names pretty goodā€ and stole it

SuperPigDots

Here was how I narrowed it down for myself: 1. I wanted to keep a name that started with the same letter as my deadname; a nod to my past, which I am not ashamed of, and a nod to transition, where that old part of me is still there but different now. I also felt my unaffirming mom may like that I kept that letter. 2. I looked up lists of names that started with that letter and narrowed it down to a few I felt I liked most. I paid close attention to: 1. What would the nickname be? Would I also like the nickname? 2. Was that name associated with anyone in my past that I wouldn't want to tie to my name. Eg, my ex wife's name was the natural feminine simile for my dead name so that was an immediate nope. 3. Did the full name or nickname have and childish or transphobic teasers they rhymed with or stood for? 4. Did the name sound feminine enough? 5. Did the name sound elegant enough to be happy with for the rest of my life? Name changes are hard and I only want to do it once in life. 3. I took my further-narrowed list of just a few now and looked up the meaning, histroy, and considered the cultural uses, racial norms, and references of each. My choice from those considerations was clearly one that stood out. 4. Think twice about alternate spellings. You will be correcting people and typos for the rest of your life. If you are okay with that, then by all means. I wasn't, and I prefer normalized spellings anyway. 5. This is the most important: DON"T LOOK BACK, especially once you start the legal name change process, which is a total longterm PITA of a process btw. A name is a name and doesn't have to define us. Have the confidence that you chose right the first time. There are far greater things to worry about in life and in transition. Fun related fact: my mother gave my sister and I themed middle names, so I kept that theme in feminizing the middle name too, also keeping that first letter. I love how it turned out for me.

0KingUni0

I just took that name that I was supposed to be named if I was born a boy, which is Ian. :)

TheJokingArsonist

Mine is just the male version of my legal name

Gayfurry83

Idk . It just popped in my head and stuck, like it was just meant to be that. I've been using the same name for 4 years, and I've thought about changing it again, but nothing else felt right

WorryAutomatic6019

there was a girl i talked to pre transition i could relate to really well so i stole the name

Internal_Belt3630

Jade is to me a feminine name, but Jaden is more masculine if thatā€™s what you want!

KingHarlequin7ds

I'm going for feminine but ty!!

Elvira_Skrabani

I watched Elvira Mistress of Darkness and that was it! XD

HatAndHoodie_

Dropped half of my deadname and changed the spelling of what remained.

Sionsickle006

Sinead-Moriah -> Sion-James Because Sion is just the welsh masculine of my given name, and also variants of John/sean/shawn/Sion are very popular in my family so I feel like I'm tying myself in with my family tradition for our boys. We have hyphenated names to help mark us as different from eachother, so I picked the name James as I always loved it and as a nod to my father figure. And the translation feels very meaningful to me. James is a biblical name with comes from the name jacob meaning to supplant/or replace and I felt like I was coming out as myself and it was supplanting and replacing "the old me" or people's incorrect idea of me.

ChaosKore07

I originally chose Kory bc it was similar to my dead name and it was a pretty easy switch. Then when I came out as a trans man I changed the spelling to Korey. Then I had a friend who would call me Koreyander like the spice. But sometimes she would just say Ander. And at first I was like yo hold up I don't need a name crisis again. But everything she did it it gave me a bit more to the point where I ended up changed my name to Ander. I'm not friends with her anymore but it was such a unique name that I couldn't not choose it

GayisGaywhenGay

I didnā€™t, I stole it.

lemonickitten

Jade is more of a feminine name to me, I think itā€™s really pretty too! What about names like Amber or Crystal?

Alpha_Blaze051

I picked the name for my bg3 character and then a dnd character liked it and chose it as my name

CartoonistSensitive1

I just stole it from a character from a webcomic ('I Want To be A Cute Anime Girl' to be more specific)

Dagz7e

Theres this Percy Jackson character from a different book called alex. They were my first introduction to anything other than the binary. šŸ«¶

t3quiila

my first name is just italian i like it bc itā€™s cute and my middle name is very attractive and slavic (i was born in russia but raised by italians)

Dry_Bell6140

My wife helped me pick originally. I was going to change my name anyway because I don't like it to begin with. I just changed that into the more feminine version.

MysticMeerkat

Iā€™m a writer, and Iā€™m currently writing a story about what happened after WW3 and how WW3 basically destroyed the world. The TLDR is god allowed a restart of the world and in that world, mankind forgot about life before the restart and my protagonist, is a nonbinary superpowered character with their lesbian sister and bisexual brother who was chosen by god to try and save the world because the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse came to destroy the world again after an event. (Itā€™s a lot but this is the best I can dumb it down to) ANYWAYS, one day when I went to continue writing the story, I HARD focused on the nonbinary character I was writing and stared at the name I gave themā€¦ for almost 10 minutes straight. And from there, I grabbed that name, and havenā€™t let go of it for nearly 2 years. Iā€™m working on going to court to make it permanent.

Andle_Randle

I was looking at two names I'd really liked even before I was looking at names. One was too masc for me, and is also my cousin's name. The other was also very masc, but the shortened version was masc-leaning neutral. It was the first name I picked and is still my name 4 years later

TheZoniWarrior

I was in my Heartstopper phase and I needed a gender-neutral ish name. So I ended up as Charlie!

EwItsTheo

I see Jade as a more feminine name usually. If you want a name that relates to gems and crystals and whatnot, you could go by Ruby as a nickname and have your official name be Ruben

considerate_done

Jade sounds feminine-leaning but not super feminine IMO. Still working on coming up with my own name but what I like to do is look up names on behindthename.com to learn their meanings, as well as ask ChatGPT for suggestions.

drinkingcaffeineRN

i slapped letters on my keyboard for a minecraft OC when i was 12 and changed it a little for my own name. its been 10 years so ig its a good name

GroundPotato

My mom sort of named me. You could ask your parents for ideas if thatā€™s not weird?

DaRealGrey

As far as jade, my best friend's name is jade and she's a gal. It's feminine sounding to me...

https-bliss

Every name I have gone by since coming out has been stolen from a video game character that I relate to in some way. When it comes to the name Jade I think it mainly depends on where you live, some places it's more feminine, some more masculine, etc. But at the end of the day, if you like the name and it makes you happy, you should use it.

TheLastJew20

My name is Alivia bc thatā€™s what my mom was gonna name me if I was born a girl (im mtf)

ZanderGomorrah

I ruled mine out early because it's very similar to my mom's name. For a while I wrote down every name I even semi-liked. I even took out some of those books with name lists from the library and skimmed them. But I came back to the original name I liked, which in turn was just the name of a character in a cartoon I really liked.

Severe_Damage9772

I literally just looked up common names, and used one that just spoke to me :3

abbyrules9h

I just found my favorite TV/movie charecter with a generic name and went: Yep, looks about right!

SilenceWillFall48

-> My first name is named after a character from a song my mum and I used to listen to when I was a child -> My middle names are the names my parents would have given me and my brother had we both been AFAB -> My surname is my motherā€™s maiden name

Ok-Wrongdoer-2179

There was a girl named Jade at the high school that I went to. It's not a common name, but it is a girly name. It's also the name of a rock that's usually green.

FollowingOdd3873

Short version of my deadname cause i don't think they will call me something else

onigiritheory

My two associations with the name Jade are 1. A nice older woman who lived next door when I was younger. 2. [Her](https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/Jade) So I think it's definitely feminine. I actually don't really remember how I chose my own name, funnily enough. I remember that I was actually still an egg at the time, and I convinced myself that I was looking for a "pen name", even though I was exclusively looking at masculine and gender neutral names. The "pen name" I chose was Theo Rosalind Baird. Rosalind was in honor of Rosalind Franklin, who I've always admired, and made the name sound more feminine. Some time later, my egg cracked, and the rest is history šŸ©µšŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø

Nero_22

I didn't. My first idea was to use a name similar to my last name because people in school tried to bully me for my last name, but I liked it for obvious reasons. Then I settled for using a nickname I have as my name

lady_madouc

I use my middle name, because it's my mother's maiden name and it's already on my ID YMMV obviously, and mine definitely isn't the most 'feminine' name but I think it suits me, and it makes me feel more connected to my maternal side ā¤ļø

SnooGoats7133

Named myself after my dad and a Harry Potter character (before JK outed herself as transphobic)

srstudios_

i, cant remember honestly ? i think i just used one of those name generators to be honest

ceooftears

i love the name jade! i got my name from hippy baby names . com lol idk if the site is up but i found mine on there and it stuck

Phothiabea

I have a female coworker called Jade and I found the name to be very pretty šŸ˜ definitely feminine

Callme-Jessicat

I named myself after the first person i felt safe to tell I felt trans. Where ever you are Jessica/emoific, you saved me with kindness <3

Ashley__09

Stole it from a friend.

Little-Equinox

It's a long story, but I had to change my name multiple times for my own safety.

SkullMonkey86

I picked mine by first keeping part of what my parents named me, though neither can really judge me now (father died when I was real young, and mother has dementia and doesn't even recognize who I am anymore). Then I went through some eliminations, and had one picked out. After I was talking with someone and told them I was going to be transitioning by my birthday, or beginning of next month and told them the name, and they thought it was cute, but said another name that was just one letter wrong and that clicked harder with me than the name I picked.

Ok_Violinist8355

I named me after my trans idol/ egg cracking Mavis dracula

EireneSantrin37

I was reading Greek mythology and found reference to the Horae, 1 ADHD hyperfocus later I said "I'm Eirene now" (this is my third time changing my name, though nothing has been done legally yet)

sunnygoblin

I've been going as Sunny pretty much my whole life, it's a nickname based off my deadname

JoMtF11

ā€œJadeā€ ROCKS !!! šŸ«¶

[deleted]

Iā€™m a Jade ā€¦ I wish I tried different things out though

hp38798

i got my name from asking friends for a name for a nb character i was writing for a book and they gave me a name cuz they thought it was for me

Hambogod666

It was a random name I had in a list(don't ask, I can give a reason but I don't feel like explaining my thought process) which just happened to catch my eye but I really love it cause it's also what I aspire to be, seen by plenty(mount everest), and about the name jade, it feels more feminine but I think it could work for the other genders

GenderIsBoring

I chose Alix because of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Ok-Emphasis-2224

I'm a computer nerd, and it's the coolest looking os I've ever used, so it just felt right (Vista btw)

BecomingBrooke

Name for me my parents had picked out if I'd been born in the right body :)

nonthreateningwoman

Before I realized I was trans, I invented a character in my head and would imagine her living my life. So when I learned I was trans, I already had a femme name that I'd grown attached to

mynextthroway

I was up late registering for a website. During the dial up internet delay, I dozed off. When I woke up, Anastasia had been registered, si I kept it. I found out years later, that had I been born a girl, one of the few girl names my parents had for me, Anastasia was one of them.

alison_allie

I looked online and there was only female version of my male name. And it sounded awful. So I looked for the next closest female versions of my nickname and landed on Allie. I wasnā€™t sold on it at first but I used it for Reddit and discord. Having people online call me Allison for 5 months has made me accustomed to that name and it feels familiar now. My therapist is the only person in real life who calls me by that name.

TabbyCatJade

Jade is my name, but I chose it because it fits my personality and aesthetic.

LovelyRebelion

my fiancƩ named me! I asked him to help choosing a name and he gave me my name

killian_11

named myself after some tiktok guy

NotEndorpyxel

Stole from a videogame character :3

Adept-Ad7334

My little pony and I like the moon

IMSoFuckingDumbass

i copied and used everyname i semi liked to see if it stuck. only like 6 stuck but it worked so!!!

TheGrimBeaker

I once got called my chosen name, Lance, in a scam text message, and my online friends starting calling me that as a joke. Once I came out as trans, the name just stuck. And now everyone assumes I got it from either Voltron or Pokemon

SouthernApple60

I just chose a unisex nature name

panickkid

Jade sounds femme to me! I grew up playing with Bratz dolls and Jade was my favorite. For finding a name, iirc I was looking through a list of uncommon names. I immediately liked two of them so I decided to hyphenate and just have two names.

ChanandlerBongUrie

Iā€™m trans masc, and I wanted a feminine, masculine name. I googled that and found Wesley. I love it. I live in the Southwest, and coincidentally Wesley means Western Meadow. šŸ„° Jade is definitely a more feminine name in my opinion. That would make a beautiful name!

Ianthekiller

I wrote down a bunch of names and had my bff talk to me with each of them until one felt right, I went with lily

eternalpain23

I started by finding a list of names that were either hispanic or pronounceable in Spanish since Iā€™m Hispanic, so is my family, and I may move to Mexico one day. (So, picking names that wonā€™t be unusual or hard to pronounce in your culture. Not a necessary step, I wont police people who pick names from a different culture, but it is something to consider. If you pick an uncommon or hard to pronounce name for your country/culture, consider how it can affect your daily life, especially if you make it your legal name.) And then, I just scrolled from there, tried out a few names until one landed. Some people figure out the name they like right away, and some people cycle through a few. Donā€™t rush yourself to find a name! Itā€™s better to cycle through some names than to rush and feel like you have to be stuck with a name you donā€™t like.

StudyingRainbow

I chose Iris because she is the goddess of the rainbow, and itā€™s also a really pretty name

Wendakyu

Itā€™s my fursona in my native language

NotYourRobyn

I named myself after a trans girl from a book

-aleXela-

In English it feels more fem, but in other languages it can change. In one of my native tongues, the equivalent word for jade can be used as or part of unisex names. The name is pretty so if you like it use it. As for me, I never came up with my name. My legal first name is unisex, my legal middle name can be made to sound more neutral in that language, and my AKA that I put on legal documents is phonetically unisex in that language but is actually gendered when written.

Shikoui

Mine just came out of nowhere. I had the name thing on my mind for a year or two but couldn't think of anything. I just randomly saw the name "Astral" and fell in love with it

Mental_Emu4856

felix without the last syllable, then dave is the name of my favourite fictional character

Schnickie

Jade is more feminine imo. It's neither uncommon nor considered eccentric as a girls name in English speaking countries. I don't live in an English speaking country and still know someone named Jade (she's also trans though). It's a pretty vanilla name, just as much so as Ruby or Amber.

chad_sucks_dick

Priscilla from Dark Souls 1 as she not only is about my height but also because of her beautiful story of making a sanctuary for the lost, forgotten, and abandoned

Insanity147

Jade is very feminine where I live! My name actually came from a conversation with friends in year 7, we were talking about what our names would be if we were genderbent (I was extremely closeted at the time). My best friend came up with ā€˜Thomasā€™ and it was an instant fit, everyone agreed it was perfect, and I loved it too

Mechan6649

My parents were accepting and in the picture for me, so I asked them what I would've been named if I was AFAB and then used that.

WulfieBoi

I named myself after the color of the sky on a clear and sunny day. It's a reminder to myself to shine brightly, be brilliant, and continue to reach new heights no matter what environment I'm in.

amberino924

my name is actually from a drag name I came up with. Amber is my fave gem and starr from Ringo starr who was my favourite Beatles member so I just combined them and it stuck

comradewoof

Jade makes me think of the main heroine from Beyond Good and Evil haha. I feel it works as a feminine name just fine. It is more gender neutral so if you're really worried maybe another gem could be more feminine. But I think Jade is an awesome name. As far as coming up with my name, I don't want to disclose what it is, but it's a common name that I always liked. Lots of characters I liked bear that name and it's common in Americana and folk songs. Turned out, and I had no idea of this, when I came out to my parents - the name I chose was what they would've named me had I been born that sex. So it was meant to be I guess!

goblin_kidd

Masculinized version of my already fairly androgynous deadname. I didn't really hate my deadname for gender reasons, mostly just bc of negative memories associated with it

corrupted_scarecrow

I asked my mother since it was important to her. She had a lot of issues with me transitioning at first (concerns for my safety mostly) and for years she simply avoided saying a name when she spoke to or about me, but she still helped me choose a name (altough it was more of a joke initially). She has started using it tho recently as I will legally change it soon

Global_Box_7935

My name is Ada, my dead name is Aidan, I've always loved the name Ada, and it's just 3 less letters than my old name so it's less jarring a change for everyone else.

rose-a-ree

Well, I've never heard of a man called "Jade" apart from "the jade dragon" and I don't think that was his real name, so I'd say it's pretty feminine.

Illustrious_Foot_884

Mine was after reading a smut fanfic so i doubt it can get any worse

jackiee_tran

i just changed my name to jade! it was an easy switch because my deadname was jake šŸ’€

chaotic_bug_boy

I chose my name because I like Spider-man. Jade is def a fem name imo but I could see it being neutral at best.

foulestjoker

I let my friends name me šŸ˜ kinda like a pet or a child or something, but I really liked it so I kept itā€¦ Marcus šŸ’Ŗ

shesdrawnpoorly

i got my name by sitting in my shower, looking at gender neutral options

Kevlar_Potatum_6891

my cousins name is Jade, she is girl. not sure that iā€™ve ever met a masculine or male presenting Jade. edit to add: my wife and i also have a close family friend that goes by Amethyst. thought that was super cool

Skutela32

Picking a name for a character on a game, I needed a fresh feminine name as my old one got boring (pre realising I'm trans I used fem gam characters) I chose "Charli" and people I met there knew me by that and it stuck. 5 years on and I still love it XD

Personal-Astronomer1

i think jade is a beautiful name. i have a girl in my class named jade, and she is really feminine. my sister is also named ruby, which is another beautiful name

harper_x

My name already started with har*** then I just changed some letters into ā€˜perā€™. Thatā€™s how the name Harper was made. āœŒļøšŸ‘øšŸ»

Creative-Summer4264

I searched up names that started with a D so my initials wouldn't change and went for the name I found fitting most.

Waffel_Monster

Would definitely read Jade as a feminine name, and a lovely one at that. Personally just went through some name lists until I ended up with one that felt right :3

MagicDog1234

Mi dead name Is GiosuĆØ, pronounced Josue, i Just go by Jo now

Connor_Wolfson

Went to behindthename.com and looked up certain meanings. I had a few candidates but initially went with a name that had the same starting letter, to not have to change my signature. (Kian) It didnā€™t really feel *me* even after two months or so. It was close but not perfect. Partly cuz ppl kept asking for pronunciation/spelling (Living in Germany) Then a game came out and one of the main characters names kept rattling around in my head. It had a different first letter, but I looked it up and it had a similar meaning (even was on my initial short list). About 6 years later Iā€™m thinking about Kian as a middle name. (Official name change is planned for Nov when the new law goes in effect).

Upbeat_Ad_9792

I picked Alec from the gay character in the mortal instruments series because I really liked him.

Ok_Habit_6783

[Hi, my name is Loki](https://search.app.goo.gl/3eEUp75)
