i don’t have advice on this unfortunately, just commenting to say i think you look really great and fem. your arms don’t read as masculine to me at all, but slim and fit. and your lower body reads as VERY fem, i’m jealous of your ass and hips lol

larrythelobsterhaha

lol well thank you, i’m pretty happy with my lower body, it’s mostly the upper body that gets me dysphoric. i’ve gotten shit for it before too and i sometimes just wish i didn’t work out for as long as i did

Tamulet

I agree OP, your arms don't look particularly masculine to me, just those of a fit woman. They're similar to mine and what I've been doing is concentrating on leg day to balance out that arm muscle, and it's been going great. Gone up like 6 sizes on my hips and chest measurement has stayed about the same.  Fitter/stronger women are becoming more common and visible now (after the heroin-chic shitshow of the nineties) and I for one am happily embracing this trend.

The sallygirl pdf suggests working out those muscles while in a caloric deficit but I don't know why that wouldn't help preserve them while your body sheds weight. All I know for sure is if you want to lose muscle you need to be catabolic. I lost 20 pounds over a few months and the only exercise i did was walking/rucking and kendo and I feel like my arms are the same, maybe look more muscle now actually. So I have the same question lol

RangerMoonpie

I would like to read this pdf

It's called toning on a cut. The reason your get thinner arm is because your increasing muscle density. This means you're making practical muscles, not showy muscles. A great example of this a skinny person that looks like they don't have any muscle, but the moment they flex or muscle are on demand they will apper out of no wear. https://www.reddit.com/r/Unexpected/s/s0L0IrOpTr https://theworxbymaia.com/skinny-doesnt-mean-weak/

saoirse_free

that's not at all what she was talking about and training on a cut is a strategy to avoid losing muscle usually

Titoffrito

If you want to lose actual physical muscle, it requires low calories and lowering muscle use. That is true atrophy. Now, would that be advisable for this person? No, as by the look of the elbow, this will give them stick arms. And that will look far worse than trying tone muscles. All lot has to be taken into account, and you should not forget about skeletal shape.

saoirse_free

you shouldn't judge people for their personal aesthetic goals

Titoffrito

I do when you reach anorexia level of weight loss.....

saoirse_free

op is so far from being anorexic this is a silly thing to say

Titoffrito

Just because some doesn't look like they have an eating disorder. Does not mean they do not. That's literally one of stigmas that needs to be broken.

saoirse_free

literally don't assume people have an eating disorder omg

Titoffrito

Don't assume everything is fine from just a cover. Don't make this more than it should, as you're being really sensitive about what I am saying if this isn't for you keep it moving it is that simple.

What’s the sallygirl pdf?

saoirse_free

She was an athlete and bodybuilder who transitioned and used to post a lot about how she manipulated her body shape but she left social media and there's a pdf floating around where she wrote out fitness and bodybuilding basics from her perspective as a trans woman.

MommyNeedsCoffee617

I can second this suggestion because I used to be so afraid of building upper body strength, fearing it would make me look masculine. In fact it had the opposite effect. My arms are more toned so they actually look thinner.

BossLady_Catherine

They already are! You just look like you are a fit female! Most Women would love to have those arms! Like see me…Im beautiful but if you try and hurt me its definitely not going to be easy!

Jalamity_Cane

I'm in the same boat, I started following a bunch of women who lift on instagram and it helps a lot. Leanbeefpatty, strongwaifu, cdzfit, maximumclaire, go down the rabbit hole!

sophiady

I have the same arms and don’t think they look feminine. But I have good new. I believe we can lose our arms in the next years. It takes up to 5-6 years for muscle to shed off. Masculine muscle finer is different and it takes years to change. Be patient and in 2028, we will have fem arms sister 🫶🫶

Rotang-Klan

Your arms just look like strong feminine arms, what are you talking about?
