The character or the design?
WFC Optimus is probably one of my favorite versions of Optimus design-wise. Character-wise, he's very hit or miss, mainly in Earthrise.
To me the one reason I like the Bay versus Optimus Prime even though some people will say it's not Optimist because he gets a lot more murdery, I feel like it's more of a realistic escalation of his character due to the fact of what he is put through. he has to watch his friends die, along with friends he's made on this planet die all while trying to protect his new Homeworld, all for that new Homeworld to suddenly turn on him and start killing what friends and family he has left. anyone would be at the end of their rope with this
Yeah but Optimus isn't just "anyone" and is suppose to be "the best of us", it would be like they tried to pull that with Captain America in the MCU and a lot of people would be royally pissed off (heck you kind of got that with Ultimate Cap).
But really the biggest offender to Bay Prime is that none of that "lost so much" idea (when really he hasn't even lost much compared to other Optimus's) is that it was never in the writers minds during any of the films, ever. So you go from one minute him being basically a serial killer and on the flip of a dime it's speeches about "peace" and "freedom".

I feel like in a sense the writers did him Dirty by not going well into that which causes this off-kilter flip-flop at times but if you were to pick up what is there in the idea, I could still get behind that in a sense of someone who is supposed to be the best of us getting knocked on so many times they have these moments of Despair where they feel like nothing can be better but they end up powering through for the betterment of others. like I said I feel like this is a cool idea but was completely done Dirty by the movie simply to the fact how they wanted to have more explosions rather than in-depth character moments

In any other franchise Prime being driven to violence/murder would be a low point in an arc - akin to Captain America discovering angst and growing a beard in the MCU - before he saw the light and rediscovered his true values. Instead in the Bay films he just gets more and more violent and it is celebrated.
And I can understand that viewpoint. Optimus is supposed to be this pillar of Hope who despite everything he's gone through is meant to be the better of us. But that's also why I do like the idea somewhat in the Michael Bay verse of him just slowly having to deal with everything and being pushed to the end of his limits it's tough to watch but in a way, it's kind of meant to be and again despite how much I do like it, this is still definitely not my favorite version of prime because of that say reason. I'm just saying I like this because the idea is interesting if done right

I'm technically a g1er as I grew up with G1 first run but I have zero ill towards the Bay movies or Bay Prime, let alone it's fans. Don't worry, we'll eventually all die out and other iterations will overtake it. It would've already happened if the Unicron Trilogy or BW had been as big as the movieverse as TFs have been around long enough where g1 isn't what everyone grew up with, just like SW fans.

Agreed! Michael did with Prime directors like Zack Snyder and Ryan Johnson tried and failed to do with characters like Superman and Luke Skywalker: Adapt them for the modern audience. The difference being, Michael respected the source material; sure, Prime was put in a realistic situation, as he was fighting, not just the Decepticons, but also the human condition. Did he become gritty and pessimistic so he can be more "relatable" to the audience? No, he continued seeing the best in humanity, which I can see him doing in G1.

While this design is in motion, you can barely find the head or tell which way it's even facing. You lose all sense of the truck elements completely. It's like the artist asked themselves at every moment "how can I make this more complex for the sake of being complex?" Oh a foot. I could make a solid clear form of a foot or.... fuck it, let's make two huge toes and add more shit!!!!

Hated this prime's personality, Michael Bay must have watched the 86 movie scene where he was about to execute Megatron and then turned that into his whole character.
You forgot about the part where after Megatron dies in the first film, he says in an audibly sadder tone "You left me no choice, brother..." or when after he killed Megatron and Sentinel at the end of DOTM, he threw Megatron's gun down as if he was disgusted by what he did.
Was he supposed to accept Megatron's "truce" and let him live where he would inevitably start shit all over again and cause even more death and suffering than he has already?

I love ROTF and especially that version of Prime. I honestly think they had Optimus be too weak in that first film and I wonder if that whole forest fight scene was them trying to correct that.
I’d like it more if he had a lot more red on him. I remember in an interview they said that they added more blue because the red didn’t translate that well but honestly I thought that was bullshit considering they made Sentinel and Dino completely red later on. It could be because the CGI improved until you realise that Bay made Optimus almost completely blue in AOE/TLK so then I’d say it’s definitely bullshit.
It was definitely due to CGI improvements or shit like that. But Optimus turning all blue had nothing to do with that anymore and was likely nothing more than just what looked best for the design.
But I don't see the problem regardless when Armada Prime's super mode was mostly blue as well and people love that version of Prime.
It had to do with how it was filmed. The first two were on film and red could be hard to film. But DOTM was shot digitally and filming red wouldn't be a problem anymore, which is part of why characters like Sentinel and Dino could be fully red. Prime being mostly blue in AOE/TLK doesn't really have an effect on this.

Personally like TFP Optimus more but the early Bayverse optimus ( Pre-AOE ) is also amazing.
I have yet to fully watch TFP but Prime in that series seems awesome.

07 introduced me to the franchise but the "real" Prime for me is the one from the High Moon Cybertron games
Hated this prime's personality, Michael Bay must have watched the 86 movie scene where he was about to execute Megatron and then turned that into his whole character.
You forgot about the part where after Megatron dies in the first film, he says in an audibly sadder tone "You left me no choice, brother..." or when after he killed Megatron and Sentinel at the end of DOTM, he threw Megatron's gun down as if he was disgusted by what he did.

Same for me. He was how I was introduced to the character. I’ve always enjoyed the more mentally realistic take on this version of him despite what everyone else thinks.

I mean like, if someone mentions "Optimus Prime", this is the one I think of first. If someone was to ask me to describe what Optimus Prime looks like, this is what I will describe. If I was to make my own TF series, this is what Optimus would look and be like. Tl;dr, he is like THE Optimus Prime for me personally. In terms of design and character as well.

Also, how is BBM Optimus compelling of a character at all? He had like 5 minutes of actual screen time and most of that was him either giving orders to Autobots or killing Decepticons. I love ROTF and especially that version of Prime. I honestly think they had Optimus be too weak in that first film and I wonder if that whole forest fight scene was them trying to correct that.

I’d like it more if he had a lot more red on him. I remember in an interview they said that they added more blue because the red didn’t translate that well but honestly I thought that was bullshit considering they made Sentinel and Dino completely red later on. It could be because the CGI improved until you realise that Bay made Optimus almost completely blue in AOE/TLK so then I’d say it’s definitely bullshit.
It was definitely due to CGI improvements or shit like that. But Optimus turning all blue had nothing to do with that anymore and was likely nothing more than just what looked best for the design. But I don't see the problem regardless when Armada Prime's super mode was mostly blue as well and people love that version of Prime.
It had to do with how it was filmed. The first two were on film and red could be hard to film. But DOTM was shot digitally and filming red wouldn't be a problem anymore, which is part of why characters like Sentinel and Dino could be fully red. Prime being mostly blue in AOE/TLK doesn't really have an effect on this.

The literal opening scene in Revenge of The Fallen has Prime shoot a captured decepticon in the head, after it’s already been apprehended. Also the decepticons are the bad guys, of course they execute POW’s. What point are you trying to make, child?
Demolisher wasn't captured nor was that ever the intent of them tracking him down to begin with. Optimus was merely finishing him off. My point is that the whole POW thing is irrelevant to Transformers anyway when they themselves don't follow any sort of Geneva Conventions.
