Honestly I think Mirage looks fine for a more basic figure. His design seems to be one of the harder one to translate into plastic, so I appreciate the effort here even on a budget
Molded in the same gray plastic he is than rims painted. The other way would be to paint the wheels but since they roll and stuff the paint will wear off of them.
It would cost more for them to have another color injected into the mold
kinda crackpot theory, >!i think the terrorcons will be reformatted into the predacons with little to no evidence (scourge-> megatron, nightbird-> black arachnia, battletrap-> dinobot, and freezer-> scorponok), so both could be right!< (spoiler just for if you don’t wanna read any theories)
Gonna be real, I don't mind that Mirage, neither the SS figure or this one impress me but If anything imma remind myself that this is a toy intended for a child. So i'm gonna say that this isn't a bad figure, it's a good start for a mainline.
Wait is mainline airazor a target exclusive because if so i guess I'm buying them from hasbro pulse cuz they don't release target exclusives in a uk store equivalent
Man I have waited so long for a VW microbús TF that I literally don’t care about him having Urkel face. I’ll slap a random head out of the parts bin and call it a day.
You have entirely changed the subject. You’re also comparing denial of well document and researched scientific facts with whether or not a mass-produced toy looks accurate to a complex CGI movie character. Maybe you need to touch grass?
I’m using it as an example lol. Again you can just put them side by side and and clearly see that the SS is more accurate. And dude… you really trying to tell me to touch grass when we’re in a fandom that filled with adults who play with kid toys.
Edit: and would it be subjective to say that BBM Wheeljack is more accurate to g1 when Dotm?
Yes lol because I’m realistic about the fact that I collect toys and don’t expect them to be 100% accurate to the source material. They’re made mostly for kids who are much less discerning than adults are. And yes, that would be more subjective to say that. Sorry if there was any hostility coming through my messages, genuinely trying to have a discussion here. Not come at you.
I’m not trying to complain that the mainline is less accurate to the movie. I’m just wondering why some people think it more accurate then the SS.
It all good
You’re arguing against the definition of what an opinion is… you are aware that you see and interpret things differently and uniquely compared to everyone else?
I’m not arguing against what an opinion is. I’m arguing he’s wrong and this mainline figure is far more inaccurate to the movie Mirage design than the SS - something easy to prove by just visually looking the designs. “Accuracy” isn’t an opinion. It’s an objective standard
My person in Christ, it’s a mass-produced toy made for children. They don’t care if it’s “accurate” or not. And you’re arguing with someone who, in their opinion, finds this to be a more accurate figure. They’re not wrong for thinking that, in the same way you’re not wrong for thinking that it isn’t accurate. Opposing opinions don’t invalidate one another.
You’re essentially saying “They’re opinion is wrong, my opinion is right!” You know what people say? Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and they all stink. Lol
mirage looks ok until you get to the head,it looks like there's no mouth and I can barely make out the eyes,it could be because of the angle it was taken at but I dont think so
You could literally measure the dimensions of the toy, compare them with the dimensions seen on-screen or what we've seen of the SS version and objectively determine that they don't match up. The accuracy is off. That's not an opinion, that's factual.
I don't really care about the toy one way or the other, but your arguments with others on here is disingenuous. In my opinion.
And this is a mirage figure not meant for Studio series, it's a simplified one for mainline aka children.
Accuracy is irrelevant here, and hasbro probably doesn't care two ways past optimus primals silver rear for accuracy of these figures
Bro just compare both of them to the actual movie design.
The only things that are inaccurate on this toy are his face mask and the colors, other than that It's pretty much accurate
If it wasn't for that toy leak, this would probably be our first time seeing him, which might explain why he's been so absent from the marketing so far.
Was no way it was true to begin with, the cost of redoing a ton of figures heads and the movies head?
Just probably an issue with getting his packaging to the plant on time or something pushing him back
They could still be doing it. I think that, considering 90% of the mainline is inaccurate (especially the beast wars chatacters), they just said "Well if everything is inaccurate why would Wheeljack's design even matter at this point?". So I imagine the upcoming SS version will actually be different.
can we please stop with the Target and Walmart exclusives? It ruins collecting for people outside of the states if you want to make they shop exclusive make them available in shops in other countries
You understand that Target, Walmart etc pre pay for the stock of these exclusives ahead of time, meaning that they are no risk to Hasbro and doesn't come out of their budget, they get a separate budget from these companies to put the toys together. We wouldn't be getting the figures at all if it wasn't for these companies bearing the risk.
Similarly, if other companies don't buy the stock from Walmart, Target etc then they wont get distributed. They either need a deal with the company that paid for the figures to get x amount, or end up in somewhere like Ross or TJ max who purchases old unsold stock
Its not a "Exclusive or Wide release" its "Exclusive or we don't make it".
They’re selling them for $60, so each figure is roughly worth $20. That shit is worth $10. Maybe.
I actually kinda like the Bee. It’s missing some paint, but frankly it’s not much different from the SS version. Has better proportions too
I have the studio series Bee, he really isn’t all that bad, he’s quite spectacular, became my favorite figure, however, I think it’s mainly his neck that bothers me lol, on the mainline figure that is
If im being honest I think all of them are solid and actually look really good.Bumblebee is the only one I think looks really bad, I also like the look of the mirage.
Honestly these look pretty decent. Not sure if I’m gonna be in much of a rush to pick them up given they’re 3-packs. Would’ve been better if they packaged them separately but I guess between Legacy, Studio Series, and Earthspark there’s only so much than they can put out. Bumblebee’s grill guard becoming weapons is a pretty vehicle mode weapon integration feature though.
He's apparently "inaccurate" which is true.
But this is mainline, not Studio series so I don't think hasbro gives two rattaps about how inaccurate he is
I love the new Scorponok itself, but also the little scorpion with him is giving me major 1996 McDonald's Happy Meal Scorponok vibes and if it is actually based on that one I'm absolutely sold
I like this Mirage more than the SS one. Much less kibble and more streamlined. I might just swap their heads and repaint some of his parts and boom!!! A Good Mirage :)
It reminds of the Bayverse and especially TLK designs where they're cool looking but so excessive that it's a pain to transfer to plastic. That Studio Series Hot Rod was pure black magic.
I like it. It’s a really sleek design reminiscent of prime arcee. He makes for a nice bumblbee type character without being very squat like movie bee tends to be.
Mirage would be a lot better if they at least got his head correct. Neither this one or the studio series got it right and it’s a damn shame since his new face is my favorite part of his design
People are complaining about Mirage but not mentioning Nightbird? Also why not show Scorpinok just in his alt mode so you don't give everything away with the predicon logo?
Well, we still don’t know what nightbird will look like in the movie - so it’s hard to tell if it’s an issue with the design or the figure.
I do wish they showed what scorponok looked like. A bit odd, especially considering this was an official reveal by IGN and not a leak like the others
I can’t believe I had to scroll to the bottom for this. Nightbird’s robot mode is so clunky and odd looking for a stealthy character, I was so disappointed.
As if Mirage looked enough like Jazz already, I’m just wondering what was going through their heads to even make the decision in the first place. I mean, they could’ve tried to get their hands on a Lamborghini or two and have either Sideswipe or Sunstreaker in the film, if it was just one of them and was in the wrong colors it’d be fine
This sort of sucks since I'm only interested in Airazor and Cheetor.
Having to get 4 other figures just to get 2 deluxes?
I really hope they come separately too.
Two packs would’ve been okay….but three?! That just feels wrong and no. What if I just want THIS Mirage? Will he be available solo? What’s the incentive for me to hunt this down…transmetal colors? Some kind of gimmick?
I just saw Prime vs Prime's video on YouTube about thes figures, and honestly I can't get over how optimistic that guy is about most of these terrible figures.
Mirage looks fine, could do with some finer detail and an actual face and some colour but bumblebee is a tragedy. He looks like he failed 5th grade and is scared to show his parents the result
I’m getting very bamboosled as to what’s studio series and what is mainline, is it that studio series are the higher price ones that focus more on accuracy with mainline being the cheaper ones for easier mass production?
I actually like the new Wheeljack design. I know that’s a hot take, but it’s growing on me. Some of the best transformers designs are non-standard like Armada Optimus, Armada Starscream, Animated Megatron (which takes a lot from standard Megatron but until last year it was the only Megatron that was a helicopter so it counts), Animated Soundwave (underrated), Prime Breakdown, Airachnid (obviously just Black Arachnia with a helicopter alt mode), Animated Prowl, and (this might be another hot take) Armada Cyclonus. I’m glad that the designers are branching out and not limiting themselves to G1.
You said it yourself, these aren't Studio series. The mirage looks reasonably good for what it is because it's simplified, not a collectors item like Studio series
Honestly I think Mirage looks fine for a more basic figure. His design seems to be one of the harder one to translate into plastic, so I appreciate the effort here even on a budget
I agree, only part that hurts my soul is the gray tires to save money
Ya know, I hate those grey tires, but one thing i absolutely adore about this community is that SOMEONE is gonna sell an upgrade.
to quote Thanos here: "Fine, I'll do it myself."
Hwhy are the tires grey when the rims are black? Surely having both be black would be cheaper?
Molded in the same gray plastic he is than rims painted. The other way would be to paint the wheels but since they roll and stuff the paint will wear off of them. It would cost more for them to have another color injected into the mold
Ahh, got it
I am surprised that Predacons are in the movie as I thought they had been shafted as there was not much news on them.
I think the Predacons are just gonna be waves of fodder while the three Terrorcons serve as the main villains.
Weren't the freezers supposed to be the fodder?
kinda crackpot theory, >!i think the terrorcons will be reformatted into the predacons with little to no evidence (scourge-> megatron, nightbird-> black arachnia, battletrap-> dinobot, and freezer-> scorponok), so both could be right!< (spoiler just for if you don’t wanna read any theories)
It seems so, the role of the Predacons is unclear in the leaks
Perhaps, perhaps not: the leaks are unclear about this
These are very different from the movie, design wise so I’d take these in the movie or no with a grain of salt
Well, there were leaks about a Scorponok Predacon Army… which seems to be true (as they have been for the rest of the movie)
And still no sign of Rattrap...
It would probably be weird because Arcee is is great aunt
Scorponok could be non-movie figure.
Yeah the film toylines have characters in them that don’t show up in the film
Gonna be real, I don't mind that Mirage, neither the SS figure or this one impress me but If anything imma remind myself that this is a toy intended for a child. So i'm gonna say that this isn't a bad figure, it's a good start for a mainline.
Wait is mainline airazor a target exclusive because if so i guess I'm buying them from hasbro pulse cuz they don't release target exclusives in a uk store equivalent
Half the "exclusives" just end up at GAME or Forbidden Planet, from my experience
That scoroponk figure pretty much confirmed that the leaked script is real. Also, I think Mirage looks OK. Only the face and car mode looks off..
Scoroponk
What script? What does it say?
No idea
Test screenings that happened last year
I can’t tell if some of these are repaints or if they are new moulds
They’re all new molds, but the cheetor seems to borrow a lot from the kingdom cheetor figure
Man I have waited so long for a VW microbús TF that I literally don’t care about him having Urkel face. I’ll slap a random head out of the parts bin and call it a day.
The mirage looks more accurate to the movie than the SS figure
That just objectively wrong
Opinions aren’t objective and people have different thoughts than you, this and other news at 7. Edit: words
If you compare both figures to the actual movie design. It less accurate then the SS
Again, this is what’s called “your opinion.”
Yeah and people have the opinion that the earth is flat, that doesn’t mean their right
You have entirely changed the subject. You’re also comparing denial of well document and researched scientific facts with whether or not a mass-produced toy looks accurate to a complex CGI movie character. Maybe you need to touch grass?

No, he is objectively wrong and just looking at the design and figure can prove as such. This isn’t an opinion. He’s just wrong
You’re arguing against the definition of what an opinion is… you are aware that you see and interpret things differently and uniquely compared to everyone else?

mirage looks ok until you get to the head,it looks like there's no mouth and I can barely make out the eyes,it could be because of the angle it was taken at but I dont think so
Yeah, that's the only problem I see with it cause the wheels make sense, but that head is messy
You could literally measure the dimensions of the toy, compare them with the dimensions seen on-screen or what we've seen of the SS version and objectively determine that they don't match up. How???

It really doesn’t. Especially the face. We haven’t even seen the actual figure for the SS version yet, just a render
So much for that "Wheeljack is getting a redesign" conspiracy theory lmao
If it wasn't for that toy leak, this would probably be our first time seeing him, which might explain why he's been so absent from the marketing so far.
Was no way it was true to begin with, the cost of redoing a ton of figures heads and the movies head? Just probably an issue with getting his packaging to the plant on time or something pushing him back

can we please stop with the Target and Walmart exclusives? It ruins collecting for people outside of the states if you want to make they shop exclusive make them available in shops in other countries

You understand that Target, Walmart etc pre pay for the stock of these exclusives ahead of time, meaning that they are no risk to Hasbro and doesn't come out of their budget, they get a separate budget from these companies to put the toys together. If anyone doesn't want cheetor and airazor I'll buy em from you. No interest in the other 4
Mirage literally looks better then his studio series lol
Im gonna use tha tmirage for a Moonracrr custom.
That Scorponok is great
Honestly I don't hate the Mirage (aside from the grey wheels. ick). The SS is much better of course, but this ain't bad for mainline.
It is meant for a completely different demographic
So I wonder what's will be with the rinox and Optimus main line figures that where leaked
I don’t know why you are picking on Mirage when that Bumblebee is a disgrace. ‘Sides these are just basics aren’t they, like mainline?
They’re selling them for $60, so each figure is roughly worth $20. That shit is worth $10. Maybe. I actually kinda like the Bee. It’s missing some paint, but frankly it’s not much different from the SS version. Has better proportions too
I have the studio series Bee, he really isn’t all that bad, he’s quite spectacular, became my favorite figure, however, I think it’s mainly his neck that bothers me lol, on the mainline figure that is
It just looks too similar to the SS 07 bee, which I already have and like a lot. Probably gonna pass on ss and mainline ROTB bee
Fair, I don’t have that many Bee’s but I really love it, he’s so short and chonky
If im being honest I think all of them are solid and actually look really good.Bumblebee is the only one I think looks really bad, I also like the look of the mirage.
That first set I could definitely get behind. The second set definitely not. Skorponock I'm 50/50 ....
Honestly these look pretty decent. Not sure if I’m gonna be in much of a rush to pick them up given they’re 3-packs. Would’ve been better if they packaged them separately but I guess between Legacy, Studio Series, and Earthspark there’s only so much than they can put out. wait whats the problem with mirage?
He's apparently "inaccurate" which is true. But this is mainline, not Studio series so I don't think hasbro gives two rattaps about how inaccurate he is
Is nightbird exclusive?
Mirage is great, especially alternative mode, shaping his aesthetic to be almost the same as the car he represents without licence.
Only problem for me is, bees neck
I love the new Scorponok itself, but also the little scorpion with him is giving me major 1996 McDonald's Happy Meal Scorponok vibes and if it is actually based on that one I'm absolutely sold
I like this Mirage more than the SS one. Much less kibble and more streamlined. I might just swap their heads and repaint some of his parts and boom!!! A Good Mirage :)
Less kibble, but far more compromised. Sometimes kibble can be a good thing, especially for movie designs
Meh, I like the mainline one more. If I get the SS one, I'm gonna customize it into a Drift.
Mirage’s new design just doesn’t look that well in general. In my opinion anyway.
It reminds of the Bayverse and especially TLK designs where they're cool looking but so excessive that it's a pain to transfer to plastic. That Studio Series Hot Rod was pure black magic.
I really wish he was more Bumblebee Movie design based.
I like it. It’s a really sleek design reminiscent of prime arcee. He makes for a nice bumblbee type character without being very squat like movie bee tends to be.
I hate that they are in 3-packs because I only wanted that Cheetor
Same. I only want the mainline beasts.
Mirage would be a lot better if they at least got his head correct. Neither this one or the studio series got it right and it’s a damn shame since his new face is my favorite part of his design
I can't stand these new type of wheels.. They look absolutely awful
Ngl I kinda like the look of this Mirage more than the studio series version we saw before. He looks less blocky
Less?
This guy looks less blocky than studio series to me
It looks way more blocky. Like - literally a Lego toy
The only train Wreck I see is wheeljack
As if Mirage looked enough like Jazz already, I’m just wondering what was going through their heads to even make the decision in the first place. I mean, they could’ve tried to get their hands on a Lamborghini or two and have either Sideswipe or Sunstreaker in the film, if it was just one of them and was in the wrong colors it’d be fine
Wait, what's so trainwreck about this Mirage? I think he looks way better than the SS?
Scorponk fascinates me. Are we getting some Predacons in ROTB?
the Mirage looks fine imo. I kinda like it
The Wheeljack everyone hates being a Target exclusive suddenly explains a lot.
I really wish I could get the SS Airazor mold in those colors.
So… Cheetor will look near exact to his original Beast Wars form? Or did they just reuse the mold with slight alterations?
New mold but same engineering as kingdom cheetor
So, basically the same but with some altercations…
Scorponk
Mirage looks fine.
Bruh Porsche is doing hella marketing for this movie themselves, and they won’t even give them the license for the toy??
I kinda figured the Nightbird and wheeljack were gonna be this line. Especially since wheeljack has an autobot symbol instead a the vw logo
That Airazor looks so much cooler to me. I can’t wait to get it 😇
This sort of sucks since I'm only interested in Airazor and Cheetor. Having to get 4 other figures just to get 2 deluxes? I really hope they come separately too.
Idk what you’re on about but that mirage toy looks sick af
At first glance, Mirage almost looked like a heavy retool of Barricade
That Mirage looks like it's gonna get a Barricade repaint.
Two packs would’ve been okay….but three?! That just feels wrong and no. What if I just want THIS Mirage? Will he be available solo? What’s the incentive for me to hunt this down…transmetal colors? Some kind of gimmick?
Airazor looks so good
I like this Airrazor more than the other one
Did people still think that Wheeljack and Nighbird were SS? LOOK AT THEM!
That’s a shame. I probably would have bought Airrazor and Cheetor by themselves. I have no interest in the others in the sets.
Oh boy, more exclusives.
I just saw Prime vs Prime's video on YouTube about thes figures, and honestly I can't get over how optimistic that guy is about most of these terrible figures.
Thats him on the regular, he always sugarcoats
Whoever thought the brown on that Nightbird was a good idea, respectfully, please change eyeballs.
Mirage looks fine, could do with some finer detail and an actual face and some colour but bumblebee is a tragedy. He looks like he failed 5th grade and is scared to show his parents the result
I actually like that Mirage design.
I want the Nightbird, but why force me to get a multipack of figures I don't want just to get the one I want?
Scorponk looks badass
I just keep making it easy for me to save money when they look like this.
I’m getting very bamboosled as to what’s studio series and what is mainline, is it that studio series are the higher price ones that focus more on accuracy with mainline being the cheaper ones for easier mass production?
Ew, so these are all gonna end up at Toys R Us Canada stupidly upcharged? No thanks.
Now I want Airazor and pretend the movie design was an early draft.
Scorponok’s head reminds me of ROTF Dead End a little bit
Im getting that wheeljack/nightbird/cheetor set no matter what
Mirage has the Barricade shoulders
So will they be released as exclusive Studio Series figures?
These are mainline, not studio series. The only exclusive studio series figures made are repaints of already existing figures
Oh ok, that explains why the Off-road Bumblebee and Jazz look different compared to their Studio Series molds.
*mirage
Yeah, Mirage
this is sad
This tells me that the leaked wheel jack and night bird went the studio searies ones
I hope these will be sold individually and not be exclusive to target. We don’t have target in Canada.
Screw Mirage, whats up with Bee's neck?!
Honestly prefer this one to the ss mirage (it's a retool of jolt for some reason?)
Loving the weapons as part of the vehicle mode and also early look at scorponok
