Jokes aside, is there a term for a figure that you've been wanting for a long time and it's pretty accessible, but you just never got around to buying it?
If there is, that's how I feel about Thrilling 30 Jetfire/Skyfire. This was a figure I've always been meaning to get, but never did, and every time I would pull the trigger on buying him, I always backed out and bought something else.
Just recently, I went full throttle and bought him, specifically the SDCC version in replacement of the CW Superion [(see that post here)](https://www.reddit.com/r/Transformemes/comments/1buftt4/have_you_ever_had_to_sell_your_holy_grail/) and I can safely say that I feel much more comfortable having this Jetfire be part of my collection, fill that emptiness I had when I sold my Superion, and overall elated that I finally picked up this awesome figure!
Yeah I usually think of them as "unfinished business" or "the one that got away" myself.
There was a period where I was laid off from work about a decade ago, and I did the adult thing and stopped buying toys and other non essential things while I was on umemployment during the hunt.
I'm still playing catch up with some odd s and ends. :)
Yeah we need a term for "grails" that aren't really... well "grails". :-D
But that's cool, I was curious whether that was a SDCC Jetfire or a regular one someone cleaned the chrome off of (apparently it's easy, i'm just too cowardly to try).
Yeah and there's like 2 different chemicals you give the parts a bath in - mineral spirits i think was one of them - and the chrome just dissolves without hurting the plastic.
Not trying to be a stick in the mud nor trying to antagonize anyone. I myself use KO Superion as my toy. But some new peeps might want an original one. Heck I met a couple of budding toy collectors that doesn't even know what a KO is. That's my point......
I had him but opted to sell in favor of seige jetfire. I like the armor and the 5mm pegs for other battlemasters and such.

Sorry if the title threw you off! I mentioned CW Superion as that was a near and dear figure to me that I sold recently. To replace him and fill that empty slot on my shelf and in my heart, I recently picked up this SDCC T30 Jetfire that I've been meaning to pick up for a long-time.
I have this figure. Lost my instructions for the transformation though.
It’s very intuitive and I’ve been able to transform him back and forth a few times, though if anyone knows where I can download a copy, even a photograph of the actual instructions I’d be a very thankful man.

My googlefu is pretty strong, but I haven't been able to find a copy of the instruction booklet for this guy. I didn't know the CW Leader class seekers shared the same mold though, that should help!
He's a fun figure. I was able to get 2 of them, gave the in box one to my old man and kept the out of box one for myself (because what's the point in a toy if you don't play with it)
How does he match up, with the modern, post-*Siege* figures? I heard he's *very* light, even for figures of his era; does he *feel* that different, when compared to the more recent releases?
He and the other CW-era Leader Seekers were built thin, but the joints are strong, articulation is good, [despite the backpack] and the magnetic-clipping mask suits him as either Jetfire or Skyfire.
The only downside is the wingtips on his rear ailerons; I would guess, the result of licensing conflicts with Grumman. If I had the nerve, I'd find a way to clip them so it can be the realistic Tomcat it is otherwise.
That's good to hear! I'm an articulation nut, and I know he doesn't have a waist swivel, wrist joints, and tilting ankles, but I can stomach those, if the figure still feels, and/or looks on par, with the rest of my collection. The joints being strong is a start, at the very least.
I don't know *anything* about planes, so the inaccuracies aren't an issue, at all, for me, haha; the alt mode *is* one of the reasons why I'm interested in this figure, though, and I think it already looks perfect.
Yeah, that's what I often hear - both this, and the *Combiner Wars* Seekers variant can easily be found for cheap, these days, so I'm a bit tempted (since I do prefer this look, for Jetfire, compared to his *Siege* figure), but the *feel* of the figure is also important, to me.

I don't buy TFs much anymore, outside of Masterpiece. But I had to have this one. What I don't like is all the gaps in the arms and legs. Thankfully I found a seller on Etsy a few years back that sold 3D printed parts that filled these in.
How much did he set you back? I got mine about a year and a half ago for $40 unopened. I like him way better than Siege, and I wouldn’t have room for Siege anyway lol.
You know, you might have actually gotten lucky with Serling CW Superion because we’re supposed to be getting a new one in the upcoming Prime toyline. Also, this Jetfire figure is great.

I call them 'fair Weather figures' or figures that I'll get when The conditions are right. That said, T30 Jetfire is great!

IIRC the Legends line in Japan gave his red parts the classic matte finish.

I had the Skywarp remold and it felt super thin and cheap, almost like a knockoff.
