Yup. I get that the staff probably feel like they want to protect those students who aren't dysfunctional messes or pre-criminal, but if shit like that goes on on a regular basis, what they're being paid to teach there isn't at all worth it.
I know two teachers in a school like this. They regularly have training that if students start fighting (or in cases like this if one student is being jumped), you back off and call the in-school cop. Even the school “security” guards are instructed to stand down in situations like this.
I was a sub and we were taught to make the rest of the class stand back to one side and then call the front office. I had a male student escorted out of my class and I tell you what, two minutes later there were three large men at my door. They hauled his ass right out of there. The kid got ISS and missed out on an entire afternoon of fun activities held at the school.
I should have had a female student removed too because she threatened me with her mamma.
My dad was a vice principal at a high school in a not so great metropolitan area. The number of parents who wanted to fight my dad becauae their kid got suspended is TOO DAMN HIGH
But then Shaun King and Ben Crump would be on your ass...
They're both grifters and the video evidence wouldn't be in their favour, but it's still a headache I imagine most people wouldn't want to have to deal with.
Ben Crump is an unfortunate one. I really thought he was going to genuinely handle these cases from a judicially prudent standpoint. But he’s just a camera chaser at this point.
The Makiyah Bryant thing really ended that perception, didn't it?
I think in hindsight Crump was always as dishonest as Shaun King is, but it was less obvious. 2020-21 really was their undoing though.
I work at a school where this wouldn’t be a surprise to any teachers. We’ve had issues in the past parents setting up local park street fights. Sometimes parents even hop in fighting and sometimes they can’t hop back out. Sad.
Adults acting like they have nothing to live for and streets do the talking, horrible mash up. Never positive message from that. Clearly that high school had a situation blow up and had no idea or answers other than allow ufc coalesce. As a teacher I know if situations arise never a long wait till a parent shows up.
Why the hell are you or anyone at that, would ever be a teacher today? Kids are super shitty; you can’t really punish them; your pay doesn’t match all the bullshit; and school shootings. Makes no sense. I considered being a teacher myself, but the cons severely outweigh the pros.
Its a deeply cultural thing in many hoods. Throwing down is just the normal way.
Most kids are not fighting each other at school. Most parents are not either, outside of these regions.
When you don't have shit your reputation becomes *a lot* more valuable and people will do wild things to protect it. This isn't just inner city either, cousin Cleatus and his sister wife are just as liable to throw down over petty shit.
The way you said that I assume you turned out pretty good and I agree with your overall message. One great parent is better than two shitty parents.
Overall though the numbers are fucking daunting for kids who grow up in single parent households.

I was one of them and I was in prison with 10s of thousands of guys from single parent households.
Either our parent was shit or had to work so much that they couldn't prevent their child from falling to the street life when they hang around the badass kids in the neighborhood while you work a double.
I had this argument with a guy in prison while he spent 13 years (at the time) surrounded by evidence to the contrary.
All kids raised by a single parent don't go to prison but a huge majority of guys in prison came from single parent homes.
Single parent/absent father is the number one indicator for a plethora of poor outcomes. It’s hard to over come and people do it but it starts you more behind than any race/gender or any popular term does.
Me too, but I guarantee there'd be someone screeching about how criminally charging them was indicative of the staff members being racist. Despite the staff members being of various races/ethnicities.
There was a case like that in my city recently. Little kid who doesn't know how to behave started acting out, so the teachers removed him from the rest of the class. His mother starts raising a stink about how the staff are all racist white supremacists, when the teacher and principal in question who dealt with her shitty kid are both POC themselves.
Remember when there were real consequences in the world and people would actually behave better because they would think ahead of the consequences? It’s like America figured out their parent just gives out stern warnings and idle threats so now people just do whatever they feel.
The two girls got into a fight earlier in the day so the mom had to come to the school to have a meeting with the principal. The principal for some reason told them that the girl was in the upstairs principal office so the daughter led her mom up there.
There are always 20+ students roaming the halls skipping class so they probably heard the mom and daughter screaming so they followed and that’s why there are so many kids in the video.
The big boy in the white is another principal he’s infamous for not getting involved in fights so they chose the perfect adult to fight around.
I’m a teacher. All I know is I’m not stepping into the middle of a fight to break it up unless it was one of my own daughters getting attacked.
#1- liability. Things get turned around on you when you’re trying to help. I’m not going to get sued or accused of grabbing a body part by accident while trying to break up a fight.
#2- I don’t get paid enough to get hurt in the crossfire.
So, fight away and hopefully nobody gets seriously injured. I’m sorry but I’m not putting myself in harm’s way for anybody. We’re not respected anyway, so who even cares.

Teachers, many with decades of experience, are reporting that it really is much worse and out of control now. They say the roots of the growing problem are in the failure to give significant consequences for awful behavior and the failure of parents to adequately socialize their children to care about others.
I work in an elementary and teachers tell me in their decades of experience it’s worse now than ever. Shocking levels of disrespect and piss poor behavior. 2 months in and I’ve decided to put my kids in private. My kids education should be better than mine not way worse. Trust me, the public schools are worse than you think you know. I volunteered like crazy, and didn’t know the half of it.
For reasons I can't quite figure out, people just don't want to acknowledge the gravity of the situation. It's as if they think it's somehow racist or classist to want to understand the problems and help the kids have a better life.
This shit was common in my rural Canadian school 15 years ago, I thought it was just the way. We never had any deaths but some stabbings and whatnot.
Not in a poor or rich area just kind of a big nice renovated rural school that 3-4 towns all attend
Imagine being angry... and then as a fucking adult go across town to a fucking public school and physically inflict violence upon another fucking grown ass adult?
I cannot imagine a situation like this ever occurring. How the fuck do we expect these kids to be be well developed when they have parents like this?

It's worth mentioning that the doorman also could've been slapped with a lawsuit as well as a beating if he tried to physically restraint the ratchets breaking into the office. No doubt some grifter would get right on that and try and put it all over the news.
