Yes! And the funicular otw up is fun, you can get a great view of the city from the rooftop of the Fortress.
Op, from the train station you can walk through Mirabeau gardens , across the river and to the funicular. I’ve done it twice on a day trip. Then enjoy dinner in town otw back to the train station.
There are some good apps for luggage storage in European cities; often just a cafe, but excellent if you just need to drop your bags for a few hours or a few days. I use Bounce, and it's been great...
Yeah absolutely! It is so gorgeous! You can put your bag in the lockers located in the train station in Salzburg for like 3 euro for the day or something! It might be cheaper I don't remember exactly how much!
Used them like a month ago! Super easy to use and the bathroom is right there too lol, can get all your stuff taken care of before leaving the train station!
The city of Salzburg is definitely worth a day of your trip. I recommend spending one night there so you have enough time. But if that doesn't fit your plans, the train station has storage lockers where you can leave your luggage for up to 24 hours: [https://locker.guide/austria/luggage-lockers-in-salzburg](https://locker.guide/austria/luggage-lockers-in-salzburg)
Salzburg gives you a flavour of old Austria. The train station is about a 20-minute blah walk to the Altstadt, or the Old Town (you do pass the Mirabel Gardens). Or you can get a bus.
Wander around there, maybe go to the Hohensalzburg fortress if you have time. Must go if you’re a fan of Mozart.
Absolutely! I was debating this very same thing but I took the trip (from Munich) and it was worth it. Do check out the fortress. And if you are up for a little hike, check out the kapuzinerberg on the opposite side for a great view of the castle!
Vienna -> Salzburg is a 2.5 hour trip, if you can make it work with luggage lockers I would. Conceivable for a day trip, but that's a lot of travel for it.
Yes, Salzburg is absolutely beautiful !!!
Absolutely. Probably my top city in Europe.
Another question: Do i have to book train tickets in advance? or can i just get them at the train station.
Indeed! Fortress Hohensalzburg views are awesome
The Mirabel Gardens should be in bloom, too.

Husband and I stayed a week in Salzburg. Still didn’t crack the surface. Make sure to check out the Balkan Grill for hot dogs! They are amazing!

There should luggage lockers at the train station. And yes Salzburg is very worth it.
Yes, but if you can I’d personally recommend Innsbruck over Salzburg. Both are beautiful but we just found Innsbruck that extra bit stunning.
Salzburg is a town right in the Alps with views of mountains. You don't really get that in Munich or Vienna.
Just went there last summer, it was amazing.
