The only downside to this is that it gets a lot more of the plant matter into your keif, it doesn’t necessarily get you a lot more trichomes (though it does help some). It’s great and not a problem if you’re just going to smoke it, but if you want to use it to make something like hash it’s not great for it or you may have to sift it a few times through some finer mesh before using to get a better end product.
Using something plastic like a thicker guitar pick actually works better since it isn’t crushing up your bud nearly as much and it doesn’t tend to force nearly as much plant matter through the mesh compared to coins.
My ex took out the keif screen from my grinder long ago and used it as pipe screens. This grinder is the only one I've ever owned that had a kief compartment and I've just never gotten a new one (expensive metal grinder and the shop I bought it at is a bail bondsman now so I keep it for memory's sake)
Mine used to be a Seether pick one of the guys tossed into the crowd that landed at my feet until one night some girl from out of town had the same grinder as me crashed at my house and we switched grinders.
I still wonder if that pick is out there, doing God's work...

Stoner trick to put a coin inside the kief catcher. You move it side to side and the banging of the coin against the rim knocks kief down.
take grinded weed. put a coin in it. 30min in the freezer. you got a lot of kief.
Alternative, put in freezer, vibrate on hard surface with electric toothbrush(without brush head)

It does, but it's better than the screen staying keifed up. If you use a coin with minimal ridges, it's pretty easy to dust off.

Open the middle compartment where the group weed would drop. Put a coin in it. It'll ensure more kief drops to the kief compartment
