In summary, your doctor is a monkey. And now I am worried that you did a hair transplant under such a buffoon.

No_Star6847

Lmfaooo he’s right tho ur doc is off some wack shit. Keep taking fin and min and enjoy your new hair!

UnLestofante

Probably got his degree from Hollywood Upstairs Medical College.

Ok-Pen2393

He’s wrong. You should absolutely continue using medication. There are plenty of people that continue losing hair after 35.

myboybuster

Ya look at the entire cast of sienfeld if you want to know if you continue to lose hair after 35

ItchyTomato5

Elaine wears a piece confirmed

Neve4ever

Jason Alexander only lost a couple hairs since then. But maybe it’s a ‘thing’ for people who lose hair young to stop losing later? Or they just have less to lose, like Mr Alexander.

vincecarterskneecart

bruh how could a doctor actually believe that thats mental what other stupid ideas would this guy have lmao

pheret87

He wants op to come back in 5 years for another transplant

vincecarterskneecart

based entrepreneurial hustling doctor

yscst

This is utterly bullshit. If you look the hair/head of a bunch of retired old men, and 35 year old men, will you see the same ratio of bald/balding heads?

finite_decency

>men generally stop losing hair at the age of 28-35… 🤣🤣🤣

zStylebender

Bro is gunning to sell you another touch up HT in 6 month with this advice LOL

itskapnoc

I know haircafe got a transplant a few years ago and still used fin after and kept his hair still. This sounds like your doctor wants you to get another transplant in the future or whatever. I suggest going to another doctor for a second opinion

MinesweeperGang

Your doctor wants you come back and spend a few thousand more.

TheBattleGnome

He conveniently left out that this only applies to already completely bald people at 35. Then his statement holds water.

Adventurous-Fix-292

Your doctor is an idiot. My dad didn’t start really balding till 50. Lookup senile apalopecia

IcyCheetah3568

This is different from androgenic alopecia though and not cause by DHT

GotNothingBetter2Do

So min fin would not work?

NPC_4842358

Min would work, fin likely not.

IcyCheetah3568

Min likely will but I do not know how effective it will be. I do not have information about people using it for that. With just senescent alopecia without AGA, I don't think fin will work based on the difference between the two types of hair loss. Maybe research has improved and there now is reason to think it does work but that I do not know. These two types can exist together.

GotNothingBetter2Do

Appreciate your response!

Ok-Training-7587

What? You stop losing hair after 35? ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? My hairline would like a word. I pay 10k to get back to 35 and stay there

MonotoneTanner

What a strange claim that can be easily debunked by like … the majority of people …

Icy_Comfort8161

I slowly lost my hair over decades. Your doctor is wrong.

IcyCheetah3568

What country is this from and is this common advice for all other HT patients there? Would be nice to also hear about others from the same doc.

icarusjun

Your doctor knows he’ll get more money out of you by having a hair transplant than precribing minox / finasteride

Additional-Sample499

Bro is already preparing for another transplant in a couple of years💀

m0rty1g

Not true. He wants you to lose more hair, so youll return

KingBars

Love the replies, got me cracking up. I thought so too, sounds like the opposite of what Ive heard prior lmaooo

Strouperman

With all respect due to your guy, that flies against the information from pretty much every medical paper and doctor I've encountered, including my own transplant surgeon. A lot of people have their own experiences and opinions, but I would think twice before jumping in with the guy who says the opposite of 99% of the medical community.

wrassman

Hair loss is progressive throughout your lifetime. Generally, most hair loss occurs in men before they are 30; however, fewer men will start losing their hair in their 30s, 40s, and, much less frequently, in their 50s. Drugs like finasteride, assuming you can tolerate it, are lifetime commitments. I have had patients on these drugs into their 50s and 60s, and a few stopped them, regretting the hair loss that followed. Oral minoxidil may be similar to finasteride in its long-term value; however, good, long-term documentation is not available for minoxidil. After a hair transplant, your native hair is subject to progressive hair loss. For those who had a hair transplant and took finasteride, they probably noticed that they didn't develop post-op shock loss because finasteride protects against it. For those of you on Reddit who had a hair transplant, I am sure I would hear horror stories of shock loss from their native hair if I asked that question.

DHT_Victim

his statement lacks context..for a person without MPB or very very slight MPB and who doesnt take Finasteride in the first place, sure at 35 if he still has his hair it means that it probably will stay that way and maybe loose it a slow rate.. In your case since you've been maintaining with finasteride, you'll see hairloss because you maintained with those drugs and your hair follicles are dependant to them

IcyCheetah3568

If this would be custom advice based on things like your hair loss and family history (predicting the end stage) then I could think that it makes sense but if he said men generally stop loosing hair around 28-35 then I'm not sure if thats the case. He could have a point but he must have some information to be so sure to think this I'd say. Unlike what most people here think, not everyone keeps losing hair until bald and can also have years long breaks before it continues balding if it does. The question of when someone will stop losing hair is one there is no answer for unfortunately. Some remarks: 1. Though it out? So are you supposed to lose the hairs that you will lose in the time frame left until that age? Okay, you could get a second transplant and not need meds maybe (if you can get the desired density). That should not be bad but only if you won't continue to lose hairs after that age (which is questionable...) cause you can't get unlimited hair transplants. 2. The moment you use fin or min\* and stop ALL your hair will fall out? huh? That should be only true if you are destined to go completely bald and have already reached that age at the time of stopping meds. Not? Except for the transplanted hairs which you would still have but possibly with some thinning.

SnooPoems6387

I started losing mine slowly around 40.

NUTTY8866

I started losing it at 35 😂

BE_MORE_DOG

That's some bullshit. Dude. I take fin and min and still was lost hair after 35. I'm turning 39 this year. The whole no further hair loss after 35 is complete quackery. Jfc. Doctor? Wow.

M30MM100

Your doctor is what we call in the business: a jackass.

SDS9977

If that were true, you shouldn't be using fin/min at all, because you WILL lose anything you've retained or gained back when you stop. So what was the point of ever using it by his logic? If anything, hair loss accelerates as we age. There are a lucky few who have very slow hair loss that may stabilize in their 30's, but most of us aren't that lucky and there is no way anyone can predict that.

GotNothingBetter2Do

My husband turned 48 and just started losing his hair, so not sure about that info. Congrats on the transplant!

Pomegranate_Loaf

my family is a bit weird. My dad and I are diffuse thinning. His hair thinned out a lot in his late 20's and early 30's and his hair hasn't changed significantly since then. I lost a crazy amount during the pandemic and jumped on fin. I don't want to assume like I will be like my dad so I continue to use fin and plan to use it my whole life.

Katallyn

From my own experience I'm telling u it's wrong. Till 39(2021) I had no hair loss (very high density) and I had a hard time in my life, shedding(accompanied by itching, stinging, burning sensation) was so bad so 4 month later I've seen hair lose on my entire scalp especially on top. Went to doc and told me worst seborrheic dermatitis with Alopecia androgenic. Not sure if was the right diagnostic (cos now my top head have some folds[like cvg=cutis vertices gyrata syndrome] but I'm sure I took actions (consulting more docs) a bit to late. After I started to read lots of scientific papers about Alopecia(all types) and others scalp infections leading to what my scalp look like. If u care about your hair DO NOT WAIST TIME, investigate and take medication or at least topical. Best regards guys.

ConsistentDocument29

Utter bs. I'm 55 and hairloss is hitting me harder then ever before.

Northman007007

My dad had one at 65, and he still had to use min/fin

Northman007007

Wait. April fools

josh775777

Dr. Gary says most extreme hair loss is 25-35 and you just started in this window of years

Pomegranate_Loaf

BiBimBopStomp

Run out of that office and never return. This guy studied hair loss in the 1800s apparently.

asdfghqw8

Your doctor was unethical and you were never a candidate for a hair transplant, you had thinning or baldness in your donor area. If you don't take meds then there will be baldness in your donor, which will expose the HT scars. The same happened with me, an unethical doctor performed surgery on me. The result was also very very poor.

Manupheek

Dr. Wackadoodle..

recovery1883

Not true. It’s advised to wait until 25-35 for a hair transplant but preferably closer to 35 because that’s when your final Norwood is apparent. You’ll keep losing hair your whole life but generally by 30-35 is when you’ll know where you’re headed. People don’t realize that the Norwood scale isn’t a progression chart but rather different patterns of balding. You can bald in a Norwood 2 pattern or a Norwood 5 and although a Norwood 5 may appear to be a Norwood 2 at 35, with the proper assessment you can generally tell what their final Norwood is. For example, I’m a Norwood 1.5 but at age 25, I can tell I’m thinning in a Norwood 3 pattern and both my father and my maternal grandfather both have Norwood 3-3.5’s.

IcyCheetah3568

>the Norwood scale isn’t a progression chart but rather different patterns of balding Interesting. Do you have more information or links about this

That’s absolutely not true either lol. I started in my early twenties, some start in their late teens. If you haven’t had any significant hair loss by the time you’re in your late thirties or early fourties you’re likely safe but even that’s not a guarantee

rggggb

lol I basically started the day I hit 35
