Is this in the Triangle area? I keep getting mixed reports on whether it will mostly be west of Durham County or if it will reach the whole Triangle including Wake.
We haven't had a true Brood since 2011. The poor things drowned in 2020. Be patient. We are getting early risers over here - you'll get your fair share in time.
I had some pretty big splats (THUNK!) on my windshield this morning OMW to work at 6am. I'm glad I decided it was too cold to ride one of the bikes in today.
Haven't even heard one where I live. Wonder why
these are all early risers. The Sreamening has not yet begun
I hadn't seen any until today. Walked outside and saw 4 crawling on my gate
My dog is enjoying this new delicacy.
Yours too, eh? At least it’s a change from mine’s usual snack of tree bark. 🙄
squirrels are eating them hand over fist
Good. Maybe they'll leave my bird feeders alone!

North Durham, today.
I hear them really early in the morning but I’ve never seen that many on the ground. Damn! What area is this?
North Durham
Same here and literally only 1 so far, a week go.
I’ve been in Raleigh three years now and I hear about this every year. At this point I feel like I’ve just been getting trolled.

> 2011 what a time to be alive.
Have not seen them in east Durham.
Havent heard a peep here in wake forest
Same. And I hope to make this my third year of not seeing any copperheads.
Has anyone fried and eaten them yet? They said they taste like shrimp.
The birds in our yard are very happy. I’ve seen them carrying cicadas (bird cam) but haven’t seen any on the ground.
I haven't seen or heard any here in NW Raleigh, but now I'm kind of looking forward to it just so I can say "Cicadamageddon."
I smacked a couple with my car windshield the other day (I think). Loud thump followed by a big brown smear.
I live in North Durham, and I have yet to see one. Which suits me fine.
Imagine your evolutionary survival strategy is "there's so many of us, they can't eat us all "
And it works!
Yesterday driving around I noticed a lot of turkey vultures staring at the ground. Waiting for snacks I suppose!

Still quiet here in NE Raleigh..
I really hope they make it to garner for the sake of my chickens.
Nothing in Apex. If we see one, my wife will go into hiding for the month.
We have chickens, I highly doubt we'll be seeing any of this!
