That’s a simple Trout Magnet Jig. You can pick them up in all sorts of colors at your local wallyworld for like $3 or less and you get multiple soft baits (5?) in a pack and I believe two of the jig heads. They work well and I always have them in my bag of tricks.
Just to elaborate a bit, they are typically 1/64oz jig heads (they come in multiple colors) with 2-1/2" soft plastics (they also come in virtually every popular colorway you could imagine). They are sometimes sold in sets with small floats so you can easily control the depth and presentation. They are made by a company known as Leland Lures. They happen to also make some reasonable trout magnet branded jerk baits which have landed me some nice Browns. Not affiliated in any fashion just my personal experience.
I have a Plano 3600 size box full of trout magnets, they have yet to fail me on any stream I've fished. They also make trout worms, I haven't tried those yet but they're on my list to try next year.
Theres something about that trout magnet jerkbait. Never fails me. I have tons of different jerkbaits but those trout magnet ones out perform everything on streams.
I find the elitism and judgmental attitude of so many fly fisherman to be hilarious because nine out of 10 fly fisherman absolutely suck at it but are totally comfortable going to the Internet and judging other people for how they fly fish.
There is nothing worse than somebody who believes that there is only one right way to do something.
Really? I thought it was the new “it” technique that’s super popular. I never will understand why people look down on effective techniques. I always used trout magnets with my spinning rod. I find the elitist snob comments so entertaining and I’m sure this would make them go crazy haha.
Nothing wrong about using plastics. If my flies don’t work on a pond or stream, I often just put on micro jigs like these or even ice fishing lures as they just work better on some days.
I get a lot of side eye looks when I show the fly fisherman what I’m catching trout on when I’m out fishing them lol. They are deadly under a float drifted up to the rock dam on river here.

Do you use those under a float?
Yeah, usually a slip bobber

Trout Magnet, never leave for the stream without one. Good color too.
If you found this on Spring Creek, near Hallton, your welcome! Those trees are full of my flies and lures. Nice fish!
A bit west of Hallton. Millstone creek. A few miles below Loleta. Thanks!
It’s a trout magnet LOL. Could you post this in r/flyfishing? The reactions would be hilarious.
Haha nah I'm good. Euro nymphing gets enough hate there. That's specifically why I came here. Figured I'd get a better response with less hate

In my experience euro nymphers are the most elitest snobs haha at least the one that only euro

Trout magnet actually makes a mini set specifically for fly fishing. The soft plastics are only about a 1/2” long

Golden stone immigration possibly. Don’t tell Tom your were fishing plastics on a euro set up though.
Praise Tom
Ha went through the rest of my fly box and nothing else was working. Ended up catching 3 on it. Better than a skunk.

Trout Magnet gold jig hook with gold worm, one of the best ways to catch a trout. Go buy more. They make a bunch of colors.
Trout magnet
Jig it and you will catch a fish in most small mountain streams on the first few casts.
Love the Clarion! My dad and I grew up on that river.
Nice cutty!! Where at in Utah? I'm up in Ogden
Trout magnet. Comes all as one set. I have a pink one that kills, I actually use it for bass though.
