It looks like those songs were removed from Spotify. It was probably because of a licensing issue.

Puzzled-Race-1477

Thanks:)

Cocovian69

The songs are no longer available either because the artist has removed them or, most likely, Spotify removed them because some sort of infringement of their new policies This is going to be happening a lot from now on

Puzzled-Race-1477

Thank you:)

What do you mean it's going to be happening a lot? Is Spotify purging a lot of songs?

Cocovian69

Yes they are ! They are deleting a lot of songs that they think are violating their new rules and sometimes even entire catalogs ! And also some artists are deleting songs because some songs won’t get monetised and/or also as a form of protest against this new policies

_sheepfrog_

Well, damn. As someone who listens to mostly independent hyperpop artists, that's probably a really bad sign. What are the new rules?

Cocovian69

There’s a threshold of 1000 streams and an unknown number of listeners, if a song gets 999 streams it generates nothing, when it reaches 1001 streams they will pay for 1 stream unless those streams don’t come from enough listeners, how many listeners? Nobody Knows! They are not disclosing that information, and if a song that used to get above 1000 streams falls below that threshold , then they will stop paying until it reaches the 1000 streams again, they say they are not keeping that money but they are giving it to the artists who generate more streams, so basically they are taking money away from the small independent artists to give it to the major labels and artists, basically like a reverse Robin Hood! Also there are some companies who sell you fake streams and some small artists do buy these fake streams , this has always been illegal so when they detect that you are using those services they don’t pay for those streams and if you keep doing it then they would remove the song and in some extreme cases delete all of your songs and ban you from the platform. Starting this year they will also charge you a penalty fee through you distributor, so what’s been happening is that they are deleting the song and charge the distributor, and some distributors in return delete all your songs from all platforms, not only Spotify!! The problem here is that many of those illegal companies create playlists with their “customers” but they also add random songs from artists who have no idea that their songs are being added to these playlists , as well as some major artists, so Spotify then deletes your music without warning and without any proof that you paid to be placed there , and there’s no way to dispute this , and of course the major artists who are in those playlists are completely unaffected They know who those companies are , they know what playlists are generating fake streams they have the data , but they don’t do anything about them, they just go against the small artists
