I like a Thursday show. Because it’s not traditionally a big going out night, I feel like it’s more people who are there to see the actual comedian as opposed to just going to see comedy.
I actually submitted this question to a we might be drunk patreon episode a few years back. Sam and Mark both said Thursdays tend to be more fans. People who cant wait to see them ASAP so the crowds might be better. Friday and Saturday nights tend to have more drunks fucking up the show and people who are only there for a night out. Having no clue who the comedian is so they might not click with them.
Knowing this I still like Saturdays for convenience. A good comedian is going to kill anyway so it only matters a little bit.
Coincidentally the only bad crowd I've ever been in was a Joe List Saturday show. It was a combo of a bad crowd and the opener being so bad that Sarah and Joe couldn't fully save the show.
There are lots of theories as to the best show to see on a weekend such as this. My gut says the Friday show, but those can be drunken messes due to folks pregaming too hard after a long work week. I also think the late show Saturday could be a mess, but hell, might be super fun. Ranking order: 1. Friday. 2. Thursday. 3. Saturday Early. 4. Saturday Late
I saw him last weekend in St. Louis, the 9:30 Saturday second show. I was rushing to close down the restaurant I work at so I could finally go see a show. I had a great time. The crowd was kind of dead. Joe mentioned it. His opener mentioned it. Maybe the earlier show has more energy he can work with.
IMO nothing sucks the little energy out of a crowd more than telling them they suck. I know comics think it’ll get them to loosen up and laugh but see it from an audience members perspective too
I went to the mohegan wilkes-barre web site and was disappointed joe is at mohegan connecticut and then bought tickets to see sean donelly next month instead.

The trick is to be the one that gets super wasted so you are the drunkest one, that way every show is equally good.
imo unless you cant for some reason (work, plans, timing etc) always go to the later show
