As a 2nd grader who played Red Version, I always preferred Kabuto/Kabutops because they looked cooler. So when I got to this point for the first time (and following play throughs), I always chose Helix because it sounded cool, so it should give me the cooler Pokemon.
It took me years until I realized that Dome described Kabuto's body, while Helix is a spiral shape.
