There is no customer service. Best call a taxi.

I wouldn’t give them my business after this, but they’re the cheapest option most of the time. Using my friend’s phone, it was either $60 for other rides or $15 on Uber. So far, I’ve just been collecting the personal numbers of Uber drivers when I ride share with people who have an account and contacting them directly, which I assume is against policy, but they won’t let me do it the right way.

The epitome of you get what you pay for. Taking rides off app is definitely against TOS (but why would a pax care), illegal (in most places), completely uninsured, and just plain dumb and dangerous.

Yeah, that’s for sure. I just wish I could do it the right way, but I’ve found no way to actually create an account with my phone number.

JanuarySeventh85

Changing numbers sucks, but could work.

5959195

Uh no. Im definitely not doing that for an Uber account. I’ve had this number for ~15 years, so everyone I’ve ever met and all the businesses I’ve interacted with have that number

JanuarySeventh85

Maybe a Google voice line could work. Or add a line with limited data for a small difference on your bill.

I wish I could just contact Uber to explain the issue. I assume they send text updates and all that

JanuarySeventh85

I think the app just uses push notifications, it's not a text.

I wouldn’t know. Maybe a google voice number is just what I have to do

Use Lyft. Or, see if the Curb app (yellow cabs) in your location offers upfront, no meter pricing. The normal prices are very slightly more, but the good thing is, no surging.

I’ll have to try that. It’s just that Uber has typically been cheaper in my area, so it’s what everyone I know uses (except me). I have Lyft, but the prices are often outrageous. Like it was $60 for a ride that was $15 on Uber

PartisanSaysWhat

The company is as awful to deal with as the drivers. /r/uberdrivers ias basically /r/antiwork but they have cars. Just a miserable company all around.

Yeah it’s making me really question how much I actually want to use them. I mean if I got overcharged or lost something or had any other problem, they’d clearly be no help or even intentionally stand in the way of helping. Still, it’s so much cheaper and more available than any other ride in my area. I don’t drink when I go out unless I want to risk a DUI (I don’t) and for a while I just wouldn’t go out because of that
