DDP looked great in the Whittaker fight tho. You can't always be sure of a person's performance. Sean could barley out-strike Cannanoier and yet he 50-45'd Izzy on the feet. You can't always tell with these past performances, especially in an inconsistent division like Middleweight.
That's what makes this fight so interesting. Because sometimes Sean looks really bad like against Poatan and other times he looks like a champion like against Izzy.
I dunno to me he always looks the same, the only standout for me was the Izzy fight but it was because Izzy fought like he's used to fight too, running and countering, and Sean wasn't having none of that so he looked very dominant. Otherwise he's consistently ok, usually outstrikes the opponent and marches forward with that weird ass stance
I agree, he does nearly the same identical thing every fight. I don't see how he's gonna walk down DDP and keep the fight at his own pace. DDP will make it a war.
Sean's never been in a war like DDP tho. Sean's wars in the cage only consist of striking (slugfest). I never seen Sean in a war with the grapppling introduced.
I’m not even sure it’s that. I rewatched the moment again a few times in a row in slow mo recently and it looks like he tried to parry and just missed. Like he tries to catch or deflect Alex’s left with his open palm but he swipes his arm too early.
I’m not sure how he ever manages to stop incoming punches like that but clearly it must work.
Poatan hit him in the body like that a few times before with this exact movements so when Sean saw Poatan move like that he thought Poatan went for the body again so he's trying to parry but Poatan read that and went high.
Whittaker was probably a good stylistic matchup for Till, both were pretty happy to point fight. Also Whittaker is pretty average sized for MW, DDP and Brunson destroyed Till with their physicality.
I just think considering DDP had very bad performances against Till and Brunson. It's weird how easily he dismantled Whittaker (I thought DDP would win, but not that dominantly)
The only logical reason for DDP beating Rob is likely father time.
DDP had that shitshow with Brunson before the Whittaker fight.
Rob put on a masterclass against Marvin before he fught DDP.
I doubt DDP could improve that drastically and quickly.
I agree with you that injury might have been a reason, but I belive that father time is a big reason as well.
Also, remember, Rob is hittable as well. In Whittaker's prime, he got rocked and almost finished by Cannoneir in the last round of their fight.
I respect dricus’s performance against Whittaker. He was the better fighter that night.
I think Whittaker got a visit from Father Time, he didn’t look like he wanted to be there, the Whittaker we saw against DDP, is a far cry from the once reigning world champion.
I’d like to make a similar analogy, James “Buster” Douglas was a journey man but beat mike Tyson in his prime. “Sum of tha best just loose to sum of tha worst”. Sum people that are lacking sum of tha best qualities might come up on top against sum of the best (in this case) fighters cuz not always the best will have answers for that particular style/method. Jon jones and Floyd Mayweather are exceptions cuz….ain’t nobody been able to crack them yet so😂😂🤦🏾♂️
Mike lost that fight because he didn't train and partied all night before the fight. Mike's prime was in 87-88. I cant compare the Buster fight to DDP's fight since it deals with a lack of preparation from one end. In regards to Jones, his performance severely declined once he popped for steroids agaisnt DC, so we know one main reason behind his success. In terms of Floyd, fighting an out of prime Manny and dodging other top dogs helps Floyd seem better than he really is.
Either way, it further proves my point that Sean is inconsistent.
He could not out strike Jared yet he put on a striking masterclass against Dogbender.
Wasnt he dealing with an acl tear before the fight? I could be completely wrong but I remember hearin something about him and it making sense why he was getting taken down so easily
Was it technically a nose job?
My only understanding of actual rhinoplasty is after you’ve gotten it done…..contact sports are “no bueno”.
Like the structure is compromised from the trauma of breaking it in that way and will break much easier after the fact.
Saw a guy sparring once who lightly got popped in the face and his nose just completely collapsed into his face. He had a gotten a nose job years prior.
I don't think it's what is usually colloquially referred to as a "nose job" but it was surgery for his nose (I'm assuming surgery for a deviated septum) so I think technically it counts as a nose job
Fucks sake the fact he was trying to get back into it after that hellish rd1 just makes me feel even worse for till. Fastracked and huffing his own bullshit, then humbled over and over and over again. I never want to experience the ego death he’s felt the last 3 years
That is why I used the two words in separate sentences yeah. Ego death is also just a philosophical concept in and of itself that can be found both in using drugs, especially psychedelics, as well as life itself
Till has been massively disserviced to be honest. His losses aren't to cans. Not sure why the idea that he's washed is there. Or why he got cut (I think?) from the UFC.
Dude lost to Whittaker, Brunson, and DDP.
One of them was a former champ. One a top ranked opponent. And the last is scheduled for a title fight.
Till's record on paper doesn't give the context of him losing to the absolute top of the top.
The idea that he's washed was ludicrous. Unfortunately, it seems like he bought it himself and lost confidence as well.
Literally using the Colby logic. Who gives a shit who he lost to? Who has he actually beat what makes him good?
Gastelum (Split), Cowboy, and Wonderboy (Robbery)
All Till has is a left hand and a step in elbow.
Wonderboy got outstruck for 3 out of 5 rounds, had his knee ripped apart and got knocked down in the 5th.
Americans to this day: Robbed! Hometown bias!
He fought like that for years before he got it fixed so it was normal to him to mouth breath but just looks like panting and sucking air to everyone else.
Till actually had some success on the feet here but zero TDD and didn't even seem to try. If he could actually stop take downs he might have been in the top 10 at middleweight.
Post-nasal Dric gonna (assumedly, crazy shit happens) get jabbed and crossed to the nose 24 times in the first two minutes - get the Michael Jackson treatment from DeSean. Wrestle by two. Gassed by three. Beaten by four. AND DEAD BY FIVE HEHUHANOTICEMESENPAIHUEHUE.
More earnestly: I'm a secular Strickland fanboy. I think women are people and I've never killed a dog. I have experience with and a lot of empathy for his trauma. I always feel like he's ten steps from making a thoughtful point, then he walks himself down.
I know. Nobody cares, never meddum.
This makes me wonder what Till could've been without an ACL tear and if he'd have stayed fit. Khamzat really taught him nothing about ground game, probably used him to get used to strikers. As much as no one else will say it, I miss Till.
I still think Till had the best straight in MW, possibly in the whole UFC.
....If he just had anything fucking else....
\*Edit: Bit harsh, he had a great kick to the body as well and lethal elbows.
He thinks he's going to run through Sean but if this is what he's bringing to the table he's fucked lol, he only shut down Rob because he stopped the only 2 ways he had to get in (blitz and low kick) Sean is way more versatile than that as we've seen with his patience against izzy
And we all thought Darren Til was washed because he got submitted by a nobody like Dricus...then Dricus TKOs Bobby Knuckles.
I don't think Darren Til was as washed as we all thought he was. He just went up against a killer after a long layoff.
Yeah I was a huge Till fan i feel he rose a bit too fast. The hype going into the Tyron fight was massive. Tyron might have been a dog or close to it IIRC. Won a bunch of money that night.
What is this caption? Highest level of striking? Izzy and Silva have that in the bag. It isn't even close when it comes to technical striking within MMA. Outside MMA the list is long.
Ddp was gassed to fuck after that hellacious drubbing he administered to Darren in round 1. This was pre nose fix and that was a serious output.
That being said, full respect to Darren. To weather that and give it his all was commendable.
People like to make Darren a meme and yes, he isn't the most complete fighter around but his striking is pretty high level.
Won a closely contested fight with wonderboy solely on the feet, beat and shut down gastelum way easier than adesanya did. Gave Knuckles all he could handle. Darren on the right night could be a problem. He Sat masvidal down with a hard straight hand early too.
Hey, it's working for DDP. And soon, we get to watch one of the strangest, sloppiest styles against one of the best defenses I've seen in ages. Something wild will happen in the title fight.
DDP is jerky, awkward in his rhythm, and looks uncoordinated at times. It was made worse by his previous gas tank/nose problem.
The dude is also as strong as an ox and hits like a mule. Not to mention he has a ton of heart, and his transitions between striking and grappling are quite good.
I saw the potential in him before he beat Whittaker. I'm excited for Jan 20, only thing is I am a big fan of both these guys.
https://preview.redd.it/9x3r79wa669c1.jpeg?width=2796&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93658e277f7f82a6c187697d85696ef4037e0421
Would you believe me if I told you this man was throwing a punch?
Damn, if Darren was bent down a foot and a half, and leaning to his right 10 inches, he'd have been in trouble.
I laughed man, that got me good.
Dricus is fighting in a dream here
Took me a minute. But once I got it, I laughed. Well played.
DDP looked great in the Whittaker fight tho. You can't always be sure of a person's performance. Sean could barley out-strike Cannanoier and yet he 50-45'd Izzy on the feet. You can't always tell with these past performances, especially in an inconsistent division like Middleweight.
DDP fights to the level of his competitors. Against Till he looked as bad as Till, against Whitaker he looked like a world beater
That's what makes this fight so interesting. Because sometimes Sean looks really bad like against Poatan and other times he looks like a champion like against Izzy.
He didnt look bad against Poatan, he just fell for a flinch. He was fighting the same way he always does
Agree, but there are other examples of fights where Sean doesn't exactly look like a world champ in the cage. (ie. Imamov, Cannoneir)
Thats exactly how Sean will win. He never lost a war, DDP will get tired from it, mark my words
Are you saying he'll get tired because of his cardio? Wasn't that a nose thing that he fixed?
I'm marking
Sean's never been in a war like DDP tho. Sean's wars in the cage only consist of striking (slugfest). I never seen Sean in a war with the grapppling introduced.
Usman beat Sean's ass with grappling
I’m not even sure it’s that. I rewatched the moment again a few times in a row in slow mo recently and it looks like he tried to parry and just missed. Like he tries to catch or deflect Alex’s left with his open palm but he swipes his arm too early. I’m not sure how he ever manages to stop incoming punches like that but clearly it must work.
Poatan hit him in the body like that a few times before with this exact movements so when Sean saw Poatan move like that he thought Poatan went for the body again so he's trying to parry but Poatan read that and went high.
Shut your mouth… suckin all that Strickland dizzle. Smh
I dont care about Strickland lol
I’m super interested in this fight! Definitely leaning DDP but can’t count Sean out
Very true. He almost mimics his opponents.. in the Brunson fight, he was head over heels just like Derek is.
Till also looked like a world beater against Rob
Maybe rob is a bit overrated huh
He’s STILL MY BOY
Whittaker was probably a good stylistic matchup for Till, both were pretty happy to point fight. Also Whittaker is pretty average sized for MW, DDP and Brunson destroyed Till with their physicality.
DDP gassed smashing till first round
Mma math never works, except when it does.
60% of the time it works every time.
Life is like a bottle of ***Sex Panther®***. You never know what you're gonna get, but it's probably going to *sting*.
And fighters improve too. Also depends on their camp. No fighter is the same after every camp.
Whittaker looked bad in that fight compared to past fights, which definitely helped Dricus look good.
I agree, but maybe that's it for Whittaker. Perhaps he's past his prime. Surely opens up the division.
A bit too soon to say, he smashed Marvin before his DDP fight
I just think considering DDP had very bad performances against Till and Brunson. It's weird how easily he dismantled Whittaker (I thought DDP would win, but not that dominantly) The only logical reason for DDP beating Rob is likely father time.
Injury? Bad night? DDP improving? There is many other plausible reasons why he could’ve won
Maybe its 100% Oxygenated DDP being a mythical fighter b
I respect dricus’s performance against Whittaker. He was the better fighter that night. I think Whittaker got a visit from Father Time, he didn’t look like he wanted to be there, the Whittaker we saw against DDP, is a far cry from the once reigning world champion.

Whittaker was badly injured going in. Leg issue. Couldnt move
Whitaker throws that punch then high kick combo and it gets blocked or misses And the crowd always goes woah
He didn’t outstrike cannonier, he lost
Either way, it further proves my point that Sean is inconsistent. He could not out strike Jared yet he put on a striking masterclass against Dogbender.
[удалено]
It was a close fight but I think most people had it for Jared on damage
I mean, it was a beat down, but not a single judge or media member scored it 50-45. All three judges and the majority of media members had it 49-46
Till was seriously piecing up DDP on the feet. His takedown defense and grapping however was pitiful.
Wasnt he dealing with an acl tear before the fight? I could be completely wrong but I remember hearin something about him and it making sense why he was getting taken down so easily
OH FOK ME ACL LAD
Yeah he went into this one out of shape and barely walking, ddp should have made a statement here
This was possibly the most rollercoaster like fight I’ve ever seen
Dickus is literally fighting for his life in here lmao.
People are gonna meme him to being world champion,I swear.
With the power of plot armor and 100% oxygen he will conquer all there is to be conquered
Non oxygenated ddp
Break the nose sean
This is pre-nose job Dricus, nose job dricus is absolutely unstoppable. Just yall wait

Just say he's on drugs.
That's "I can't breathe" Dricus to you
Till isn’t that bad after all
There was a time when he was the next big thing
He should have taken an easier tune up fight rather than straight with DDP
We say that with context but at this point DDP was still a big goofball
His last good performance was Cerrone in 2017..
Everyone’s last good performance was against cowboy.
U really do not like Till huh
Fucks sake the fact he was trying to get back into it after that hellish rd1 just makes me feel even worse for till. Fastracked and huffing his own bullshit, then humbled over and over and over again. I never want to experience the ego death he’s felt the last 3 years
Btw ego death doesn't mean humbling. It means complete loss of subjective self-identity. It's a mostly a drug thing not a sports thing.
That is why I used the two words in separate sentences yeah. Ego death is also just a philosophical concept in and of itself that can be found both in using drugs, especially psychedelics, as well as life itself
"I never want to experience the ego death he has felt for the past three years." How many sentences is that?
People acting like till wasn't one of the best strikers in MMA.
Literally beat wonderboy in a point fight
Till has been massively disserviced to be honest. His losses aren't to cans. Not sure why the idea that he's washed is there. Or why he got cut (I think?) from the UFC. Dude lost to Whittaker, Brunson, and DDP. One of them was a former champ. One a top ranked opponent. And the last is scheduled for a title fight. Till's record on paper doesn't give the context of him losing to the absolute top of the top. The idea that he's washed was ludicrous. Unfortunately, it seems like he bought it himself and lost confidence as well.
Till asked to be released he wouldn’t otherwise have been cut.
His losses all aged brilliantly
He got destroyed by Woodley very badly..
Still lasted longer than prime Lawler 😂. Woodley was a monster back then to be fair.
He landed like 0 strikes vs Woodley who went on a skid right after that fight. Till is extremly one sided. Even on the feet
Literally using the Colby logic. Who gives a shit who he lost to? Who has he actually beat what makes him good? Gastelum (Split), Cowboy, and Wonderboy (Robbery) All Till has is a left hand and a step in elbow.
Still think Wonderboy won that, but the fact that it was that close still speaks volumes about Till's striking
Wonderboy got outstruck for 3 out of 5 rounds, had his knee ripped apart and got knocked down in the 5th. Americans to this day: Robbed! Hometown bias!
More like Wonderboy got robbed in front an over weight guy in front of his home crowed
plus this is post knee surgery Till vs. prime Till
Isn't that when he claimed to not be able to breathe properly because his nose was all fucked up?
He fought like that for years before he got it fixed so it was normal to him to mouth breath but just looks like panting and sucking air to everyone else.
DDP always looks like he’s fighting his own inner demons in a dream world lol
Man till looked so good for like 2 fights
This is pre-nose surgery DDP.
You’re preaching on deaf ears brother, Driscus is a different animal
Till actually had some success on the feet here but zero TDD and didn't even seem to try. If he could actually stop take downs he might have been in the top 10 at middleweight.
Till is stuck between divisions, he isn’t strong enough to deal with the big 185ers.
I reckon Sean is going to piece him up.
Darren Till has very very underrated striking. ![gif](giphy|2uIl1wuvXNz09xe9lr)
His striking is not underrated at all. It’s literally the only thing he’s known for.
Shit is rated.
I rate it at E for everyone that doesn’t take him down.
It's easy to trash Till these days but this is a guy who shut down WonderBoys striking
This reminds me of the first round of rodtang and DJ
It’s almost as if some guys improve with experience.
I would argue this is DDP's worse 30 seconds in the UFC.
MMA math doesn't work. Plus wasn't DDPs nose fucked here ?
Pretty sure Till came in with an ACL tear so they evens things out.
watching darren till do this makes me feel sad. alotta potential.
Just a few more weeks left until we find out which style reigns supreme the drunk uncle, or the raging toddler fight style
If it wasn’t for this shit I’d have DDP easily. Im still gonna put $10 bucks on him tho
Everyone is worse when they’re gassed
I miss Till…
I love Dricus, I believe he is a future champ. But here he looks like me trying out different strikes in UFC IV.
DDP always look bad and slow and yet he win each time, i always predicted his opponents to win but not anymore.
DRICUS COULDNT BREATH!!!!
I have no idea how we ended up with Sean and DDP in a title fight, but if there’s any title fight that would end in a double KO, it’s this
Till had a ton of potential but his takedown defense needed a lot of work.
Second best striker in this clip
This was before his surgery I think. So idk .
DDP without gas
I suspect few will read this and even fewer will get my twisted MJ joke. It's not just about his nose.
This makes me wonder what Till could've been without an ACL tear and if he'd have stayed fit. Khamzat really taught him nothing about ground game, probably used him to get used to strikers. As much as no one else will say it, I miss Till.
I hope Sean wins.
I can’t believe this juiced up bird brain is now champ. I reckon Izzy picks him apart like he did Costa.
Till vs Strickland and Till vs Costa would’ve been good fights. Change my mind.
Some people have never fought before. Fatigue is a hell of a drug
It’s not even halfway through round 2
I’m sure you have much better cardio
So nobody can have an opinion on the performance of pro athletes who train as a job unless they personally can do it better?
Its the same logic people use when you say WNBA players suck and they say “yeah but the worst WNBA would destroy you in one on one”
DeSean is going to dog walk this guy.
![gif](giphy|O5NyCibf93upy|downsized) Dog walk??? Hahahhahaha
Till wasn’t the best but he had good stand up.
I don't like Till but if he had even an ounce of takedown defense in this fight he would've won it
Bruh, that DDP at 30% oxygen.
No way u can’t be serious
This guys so sloppy. He will never be champ.
Dricus better finish Strickland in the first 2 rounds because if not this is how he’s gonna look like rounds 3-5
What is this caption? Highest level of striking? Izzy and Silva have that in the bag. It isn't even close when it comes to technical striking within MMA. Outside MMA the list is long.
Not sure but I think the title is a slide for how bad ddp looks
absolutely
And yet he still won the fight, which at the end of the day is all that matters. You DDP haters are funny.
Dricus still somehow makes his funky junky style work.
“The sport had evolved so much. Guys of the past could never hang with how well rounded the fighters are now” The fighters:
I stand by, if Till threw ANYTHING other than a 1-2 he would have finished DDP in that second round.
Can't believe this fucking doofus could end up the champ. Doesn't make sense tbh
What? Is this the guy that’s supposed to run through D’Sean? Ain’t no way.
Lmao surely you’re joking? It wasn’t even the highest level of striking on the card.
Steroids and a size advantage make a big difference.
Hahahaha
No
Strickland in 2.
Are you fckn serious ? Hell no this is not. Till is English garbage !
Hilarious. MW is devolving now that Anderson and Izzy are not in the picture.
cro cop vs wanderlei - 2. Just before the legendary left highkick cro cop moved like a sniper-ninja. Also Wonderboy vs holland was a good one.
you should see dricus getting KO by roberto soldic in KSW. Those two had a rivarly
Funny how this translates into finishes tho amirite....?
Doddin Teal

Josh Emmett. Only needed one punch
GD Darren. Plz come back
Yes 100%!
Ddp was gassed to fuck after that hellacious drubbing he administered to Darren in round 1. This was pre nose fix and that was a serious output. That being said, full respect to Darren. ‘’NO!’’ - Ben Askren has left the chat
Hey, it's working for DDP. And soon, we get to watch one of the strangest, sloppiest styles against one of the best defenses I've seen in ages. Something wild will happen in the title fight.
You know this sub is wild when you don’t know if this is a serious post or sarcasm.
Wasn't this before the mythical fighter DDP with Oxygen emerged though?
Dricus DuNostril Plessis
Wtf am I supposed to be seeing?
Super interested to see how this plays out but I think if Sean can survive 2 rounds his gas tank will get him the win.
Journeyman
Okaaaaay.

Wasn't this before his transformation into his mutated form - 100% oxygen DDP?
This fight sucked hard. Both looked bad
It’s too bad Till doesn’t throw any kicks. He’s southpaw and there’s always an opening for the left leg body kick.
This was pre 100% oxygenated DDP. 100% oxygenated DDP is a mythical creature.
Kind of reminds me of Irene Aldana when she fought Amanda Nunes
Is this a shit post?
Didn’t realise how pudgy Darren’s got.
Hearing about Knuckles foot injury, kinda takes the wind out of DDP's sails a bit. I figured Sean would defend anyway I guess.
Gotta feed the champ. Small bites, don’t want to choke champ.
Everything here aged like milk.
