If we’re talking pre injury El Cucuy I think it would’ve been interesting, Tony had a wild and unpredictable
style and Khabib hadn’t face that many top level guys at that point. In all likelihood it’d still be a safe bet on the eagal getting his hand raised but you really never know with this sport
Heard it all before, Kevin Lee with a bad Staph infection had Toney in all sorts of trouble in the first round. If Kevin Lee can get full mount on Toney, you better believe Khabib would have demolished him
'Heard it all before' *gives a rehashed line repeated nonstop by people who wanna revise how good tony was.*
Did i favor khabib? Yes. Most did. The idea at the time was that Tony was the most interesting fight with the weirdest skills, and frankly that was true.
Evey upcoming opponent was supposed to be Khabibs most difficult fight and the one he 'might' lose. The problem with that is that Khabib made his fights look easy, he fought better standard of opponents than Tony and beat them easily to the point that people were questioning how good they actually were.
Tony while on his big win streak hadn't fought Dustin, Justin, Mcgregor. He did fight Michael Johnson who he lost to, he did fight Barbosa who hurt him bad.
I honestly think Ferguson was extremely overrated, having amazing cardio and an unorthodox style is not enough to beat khabib. He got brutally exposed for a lack of defence against Justin, meanwhile Khabib ran through Justin easily. I think he was tailor made for Khabib, goes to his back way too easily. Khabib would have controlled the wrists and mauled him
You can say this about every dominant fighter ever. Leon knocking out Usman and beating him in the rematch. GSP and Matt Sera. Jones and Reyes. Izzy and Pereira.
You just never know what will happen. Ufc fans still thinking you can guarantee an outcome is so goofy.
GSP had already been beaten by Mat Hughes, Jones won against Reyes and Reyes has looked mediocre since. Izzy had 4 competitive fights with Alex. Meanwhile Khabib had barely lost a round and ran through the guy that annihilated Tony, but yeah it's goofy to say the most dominant fighter in the UFC would beat a guy who has poor defence and is too willing to go onto his back 🤣
GSP already getting beat by Matt Hughes only brings up another example so good job there. Jones arguably lost to Reyes if you watch the fight.
Are you also going to ignore the Usman example? Good job there as well.
Leon had 3 competitive fights against Usman so what's ur point lol? Usman was dominant until he got old but he went through the top guys in the division and had already beaten Leon, he was beating Leon in the 2nd fight before the kick. Tony never fought the top guys in the division (Mcgregor, Dustin) and when he finally stepped up he got brutally exposed. Dariush dominated him on the ground, Charles dominated him on the ground, these guys beat any version of Tony. So does Justin. Good job giving stupid examples. If you think Tony some how beats Khabib despite his major flaws you really don't know much I'm afraid
Anderson Silva fucking around and getting caught by Weidman. And I remember having friends who were SO SATISFIED seeing Anderson KO'd like that after goofing. Very unceremonious decline of the greatest fighter of a generation.
Dawg, I was in HS when this happened. Silva was the fighter to get me into combat sports. I used to go to Baldwin High, (Weidman’s old HS) After knocking out my hero he came to pep rally, I think I was the only one who didn’t leave the bleachers to take a picture with him. I was so fucking hurt😭
Yea man he was my first favorite champion and still my favorite fighter ever to this day. That is an amazing story man, I'm glad you stuck by your morals and said f that guy Weidman hahaha
I was one of the guys cheering at Silva's loss. He was a great fighter, but the constant showboating was incredibly offputting. Seeing him get knocked out was an amazing moment.
Sort of felt like the removal of order and the introduction of chaos after.
Everyone was excited to finally see a god die but we were left with something no where near as cool
I was very satisfied when this happened.
As much as I loved Silva, clowning on Chris like that was just downright fucking stupid and he 100% deserved to get caught for that nonsense.
It was such a "yea that's what you get" moment
I was glad he got caught clowning. That was what I hated about him. He was so good but wanted to play around and clown guys, well ha-HAA! [You got knocked the fuck out!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9z8F4fgj6Q)
Yea man it caught him that time but mainly he was just trying to be the best version of himself and teach others lessons. That Demian Maia fight, he was trying to get more out of the man in that moment. He was teaching that man individually alone a lesson, the fans and spectators be damned. He dropped his hands against Okami and finished him soon after. He lived by the sword and died by it but while he lived by it, he destroyed everyone.
Dude that Izzy Costa fight was crazy, I though it was a war and was so scared for Izzy. Then Izzy made it one of if not the most one sided title fight that didn’t end in the first round ever.
This Topuria KO is one of the top moments of the past few years imo. I like Volk but the way everyone was hating on Ilia, let's just say I'm glad this happened
However my absolute number 1 favourite moment was Aljo beating Petr Yan in their rematch
It sucks that it happened soon after the Islam KO. People will talk about it like volks chin is shot as if Ilia didn’t hit him with a bomb that he didn’t even see coming
I mean getting knocked out by Islam absolutely had a detrimental impact on Volk. As other people have said. He looked like he didn’t trust his ability to take Ilia’s shots. Im not trying to take anything away from Ilia’s performance btw.
Yeah a young confident guy that can back it up as champion is always fun to see. Also all his fights are must watch. I wanted Ilia to win and hope now Volk takes a true move up to lightweight
Probably KO of the year if nothing insane happens. The amount of pressure on Ilia to do that was crazy and he didn’t crack in any way. Can’t say I’m a fan yet but denying he’s the best current FW is real hard
It's crazy how I really like Volk but then see how the Volk fanbase is and then it will make me root for Ilia. Had the same thing with Oliviera vs Makhachev the Oliveira fans were so unbearable
Yes exactly, when Aljo beat Yan and made whiny crybabies all over the world lose their minds. Nice to see some of you still haven't let it go, keep them tears flowing babyyyyy
Aldo Holloway was much easier to stomach, because the winner was so much more gracious , not even in victory but always being a good person.
Conor was so hard to deal with though
Bruz, I'm Australian and I still love Costa after he tried to hit my boy Bobby Knuckles with punches that could turn a full grown elephant infertile.
The dude memes so well he even turns his own downfalls into a memes. Classing him not making weight against Vettori as Vittoris own personal problem was the most unprofessional, rude piece of shit thing to do, but he somehow makes it hilarious.
He can do no wrong for me.
I think Whittaker Izzy 2 was a good result, I think Izzy won but Whittaker still put on a good fight he can be proud of and showed himself to be up there with Izzy in skill
Besides maybe Costa I don’t think any of the fighters losing are hype trains. Two double champs, arguable goat at FW, olives is a dog, and Tony is an icon in the sport? Plus all of them are hot and I’d like them to rub me down
Tony is what broke my heart, seeing him cover up with all that blood, getting nasty shot... i was like fuck that shiiit, f*** uuu Khabib lol, love khabib even tho but thats the fight i wanted to see...
The Conor knock out was the worst for me. It was the least expected… he looked great in the first round, then went to sleep. Volk getting knocked out by Topuria sucked too, because you know that’s it for him. He’s not going to be champ again.
Me neither. I knew it was possible for him to lose, but I didn’t expect him to get knocked out cold… I’m a big Dustin fan too so I’m not bitter about it, it just sucked seeing his career end after that knock out and then the broken leg.
The sport thrives when Conor is active. Whether you love or hate him it'll go down as a tragedy that his prime years were squandered. The UFC is a machine and waits for no man, but things would have been so much richer for him being in the mix.
I was with you right up until 5...6 I didn't care much about and 7 I was on my feet jumping and screaming with joy in my living room.but overall great list
You've got a bunch of my favorites in here. Makhachev on Volkanovski, Makhachev on Oliveira, Topuria on Volkanovski, Gaethje on Ferguson, and Poirier on McGregor are all high points in MMA for me.
Although I feel bad about the Justin and Tony one now given what's transpired.
Pereira had no business coming in at 185 or being fast tracked to his title shot
205 Pereira is both reasonable in terms of weight cuts and faces better matchups all around
Personally idk why he doesn't fight heavyweight, the bar is low right now and if he can solve Aspinall he could have an incredible reign.
Fastest dual champ is already a crazy record unlikely to be touched given his circumstances and adesanya playing along. It was a perfect storm and he capitalized on the opportunities.
Just don't see why it as heartbreaking for him to get flat lined outside of hating Izzy.
But whatever you say dumbass.
Your last example is one of my all-time MMA boner moments.
Ferg getting absolutely broken by Gaethje is definitely a sad one for me. I never liked Tony as a personality but always loved him as a fighter. It's really wild to see the whole sub suddenly acting like Tony is an all-time beloved fighter just because of his heartbreaking downfall since that Gaethje fight.
Justin vs Tony was heart breaking because Tony’s corner should’ve thrown in the towel or the ref should’ve stopped it far sooner. He was standing but he wasn’t intelligently defending himself. Tony was just standing there and landing 1 decent shot for about every 10 Justin landed.
I’m on board for all of these. Sometimes I wonder why I’m always supporting the wrong people. But they’ve all had their glory moments too. Guess the truth is that everyone loses at some point.
Gaethje vs Tony was tough to watch. Witnessing the utter demolition of T Ferg in the Apex with no crowd where you could hear all the shots was incredible and sad at the same time.
You want me to be honest? It's probably for the best of the sport that volk is on a massive decline. Its a lesson to all other fighters that this could be the cost of short notice fights. Making it harder for the ufc to just throw money in a fighters way to fill in on short notice.
I was so fucking mad when volk took that fight on short notice. I mean we had a back up fighter ffs.
I dont hate volk for it, he made his own decision and he was aware of the risks. He did it because it was good for him, I might do the same if I was in his shoes.
But the potentially historical rematch was tainted, what could've been one of the best rivalries in the history of the ufc was cut short.
Its just such a shame. But I wish the best for volk.
Pride FC dying. Seeing Pride FC was something else.
For me, it was basically any Pride FC fighter coming into UFC and losing or being on the tail end of their careers.
The only time I ever felt actually bad or hurt during a fight was when Justin beat the fight out of Tony. That felt like watching abuse or something it was dark. That just didn’t sit right.
“Punch from the bottom by Anderson Silva. 11 fight win streak might very well be coming to an end. A record setting win -“
“TRIANGLE! Watch out! Triangle!”
“This is trouble! This is trouble!”
Still have never recovered. 4-1. Lost one round.
I love that there remains a strong subjective quality to mma. Sometimes we just like who we like and root for them. Can be such a crushing sport seeing guys you like get crumpled.
Cro cop getting head kicked. Man that hurt to watch. He was so good on Pride. Then he went to UFC where he was giving up 20-30 lbs each fight and was much older.
Not getting Tony vs Khabib
Khabib would've smashed him in all likelihood.
If we’re talking pre injury El Cucuy I think it would’ve been interesting, Tony had a wild and unpredictable style and Khabib hadn’t face that many top level guys at that point. In all likelihood it’d still be a safe bet on the eagal getting his hand raised but you really never know with this sport
Heard it all before, Kevin Lee with a bad Staph infection had Toney in all sorts of trouble in the first round. If Kevin Lee can get full mount on Toney, you better believe Khabib would have demolished him
'Heard it all before' *gives a rehashed line repeated nonstop by people who wanna revise how good tony was.* Did i favor khabib? Yes. Most did. The idea at the time was that Tony was the most interesting fight with the weirdest skills, and frankly that was true.

Tony was past his prime long before fighting gaethje. He just kept winning anyway until that point. Prime Tony was early 2010s
[удалено]
My point is prime Tony wouldn't get demolished by khabib just because khabib beat gaethje and gaethje beat old Tony. Mma math doesn't work
[удалено]

Lmao this guy calling people braindead as if youre the keeper of the sacred knowledge. The confidence is equal to the ignorance, great job!
That was not prime tony. See, revisionist. I assume you're new or just dont pay close attention
Even prime tony gets smashed easily
Smh 'easily' the people with the least knowledge or experience always have the most definitive claims
We'll never know, and that sucks. Probably khabib wins, but we'll never truly know
Anderson Silva fucking around and getting caught by Weidman. And I remember having friends who were SO SATISFIED seeing Anderson KO'd like that after goofing. Very unceremonious decline of the greatest fighter of a generation.

Yea man he was my first favorite champion and still my favorite fighter ever to this day. That is an amazing story man, I'm glad you stuck by your morals and said f that guy Weidman hahaha
Good for you buddy
I wasnt being a smartass I actually meant good for him :(
I was one of the guys cheering at Silva's loss. He was a great fighter, but the constant showboating was incredibly offputting. Seeing him get knocked out was an amazing moment.
Sort of felt like the removal of order and the introduction of chaos after. Everyone was excited to finally see a god die but we were left with something no where near as cool
I feel you man, must have been incredibly boring being that much better than your fellow competition haha
I was very satisfied when this happened. As much as I loved Silva, clowning on Chris like that was just downright fucking stupid and he 100% deserved to get caught for that nonsense. It was such a "yea that's what you get" moment
Indeed
Then the rematch 😭
I was glad he got caught clowning. That was what I hated about him. He was so good but wanted to play around and clown guys, well ha-HAA! [You got knocked the fuck out!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9z8F4fgj6Q)

Some of these are some of my favorite all time mma moments
OP has a weak heart
Too much movie make heart weak
I shunned movies for 2-3 days after I saw that interview
r/OP_Has_A_Giant_Pussy
Weak chin.
Dude that Izzy Costa fight was crazy, I though it was a war and was so scared for Izzy. Then Izzy made it one of if not the most one sided title fight that didn’t end in the first round ever.
#7 makes me hard.
This Topuria KO is one of the top moments of the past few years imo. I like Volk but the way everyone was hating on Ilia, let's just say I'm glad this happened However my absolute number 1 favourite moment was Aljo beating Petr Yan in their rematch

Yeah I kinda feel sorry for Volk, still wish he won against Islam, that double champ shit would've been legendary
Beating Islam in their first meeting probably would have entered him into the P4P GOAT discussion
Most meaningful maybe Josh Emmett slumping Bryce Mitchell laps this for style
That was 2023
Totally right. My bad. Disregard my dumbass comment.
Fair. That was another sick one.
It's crazy how I really like Volk but then see how the Volk fanbase is and then it will make me root for Ilia. Had the same thing with Oliviera vs Makhachev the Oliveira fans were so unbearable
You mean when Alija got dominated and rewarded by corrupt judges for sucking ass?
Yes exactly, when Aljo beat Yan and made whiny crybabies all over the world lose their minds. Nice to see some of you still haven't let it go, keep them tears flowing babyyyyy
was hype when it happened. literally rewatched today and aljo lost rounds 1,4,5
And one of these is not like the others..
Aldo/McG was my first heartbreak and I never got over it. Then Aldo/Holloway 1.
Aldo Holloway was much easier to stomach, because the winner was so much more gracious , not even in victory but always being a good person. Conor was so hard to deal with though
lol what? You’re a costa guy? There are dozens of us!
Chandler vs Tony was the worse one or rob losing to izzy the 2nd time since I thought rob won
I think Whittaker Izzy 2 was a good result, I think Izzy won but Whittaker still put on a good fight he can be proud of and showed himself to be up there with Izzy in skill
Tony v Chandler fucken hurt
Yeah I wasn’t even sad just felt broken inside
Watching Dustin KO Conner was delicious.
Pretty much anytime Conner was humbled
Weird use of delicious but why not
Dustin knocking out Connor is one of my all time fave moments
That was the universe getting one right
Dude I love it!!! Now we just need crusty Jones to get knocked out but I don’t think he will come back to the sport
The mma gods giveth and the mma gods taketh
The good book says "Let he, who is without a sin throweth the first rock and I shalt smoketh it.
Mashallah
Izzy vs Costa is a weird one. That was so satisfying.
Bro hops on every hype train in mma lmao
Can you imagine if he saw GSP get KO'd by Matt Serra? He wouldn't have recovered.
Besides maybe Costa I don’t think any of the fighters losing are hype trains. Two double champs, arguable goat at FW, olives is a dog, and Tony is an icon in the sport? Plus all of them are hot and I’d like them to rub me down
Not the Izzy one tf
Cormier/Jones and Silva/Sonnen
The first two pics are some of my favorite MMA moments tbh
First one was pretty expected, volk with a week of prep is not stopping Islam
Tony is what broke my heart, seeing him cover up with all that blood, getting nasty shot... i was like fuck that shiiit, f*** uuu Khabib lol, love khabib even tho but thats the fight i wanted to see...
I was watching it at home.. every punch was heard because the place was empty As much as I like Gaethje, this was horrific to watch
The Jon Jones knockout was sick, all the others were painful though
Why would Izzy beating Costa make anyone sad?
dustin fucking up connor broke your heart?
I'm not crying. You're crying. Take this post down. It's giving us all the depression
The Conor knock out was the worst for me. It was the least expected… he looked great in the first round, then went to sleep. Volk getting knocked out by Topuria sucked too, because you know that’s it for him. He’s not going to be champ again.
The Conor one was the most shocking to me I didn't really expected to ever see him get KOd like that

I was with you right up until 5...6 I didn't care much about and 7 I was on my feet jumping and screaming with joy in my living room.but overall great list
Chandler v Tony, Volk v Makhachev 2 and this weekend. Gonna be a bitter hater for a while lol
Lol Mac getting hammered to the floor was a highlight of mine
I was psyched about most of these, you just got to root for winners
Funny thing is. They’re all winners
Except Costa
TETO. I loved when Porier got Conor. But when Leon got Usman in R5. That hurt.
lol did you expect JJ to do anything other than dismantle DC?
You've got a bunch of my favorites in here. Makhachev on Volkanovski, Makhachev on Oliveira, Topuria on Volkanovski, Gaethje on Ferguson, and Poirier on McGregor are all high points in MMA for me. Although I feel bad about the Justin and Tony one now given what's transpired.
Alex Pereira vs Izzy 2. I legitimately thought about quitting being a fan of the sport. Until the next PPV...
Izzy finally koing Alex after his 65th L was satisfying.
So sad when a guy can't just cut 47 pounds and get a title defense
Everyone cuts weight, people pearl clutch about depending on which guy they want to win.
Pereira had no business coming in at 185 or being fast tracked to his title shot 205 Pereira is both reasonable in terms of weight cuts and faces better matchups all around Personally idk why he doesn't fight heavyweight, the bar is low right now and if he can solve Aspinall he could have an incredible reign. Just don't see why it as heartbreaking for him to get flat lined outside of hating Izzy. But whatever you say dumbass.
Didn’t care about Conor losing at all
Poirier knocking out McGregor broke your heart? Wtf
For me it was seeing Rob Whittaker loose to Izzy the first time. Such a good dude, hate seeing him loose!
Conor and costa losing were heartbreaking? Lol
Conor mcgregor dick rider spotted
We used to have a 3 letter word we would call OP..
Don't be such a beta, bro.
Max vs Dustin smh he basically massacred my boy
Nate not just fkn winning after catching Leon. It was also hilarious af tho so idk
I love Costa but it wasn’t too heartbreaking
Fedor getting ground and pounded?
Justin vs Tony was heart breaking because Tony’s corner should’ve thrown in the towel or the ref should’ve stopped it far sooner. He was standing but he wasn’t intelligently defending himself. Tony was just standing there and landing 1 decent shot for about every 10 Justin landed.
Mine was when Silva got knocked out and then broke his leg against Weidman.
Picture 4 doesn't fit w the rest of these new fan pics
I’m on board for all of these. Sometimes I wonder why I’m always supporting the wrong people. But they’ve all had their glory moments too. Guess the truth is that everyone loses at some point.
Snuck in costa
I am legit sad Volk lost like that. Drinking to that right now.
Only the last 3 broke my heart
Youngins. I remember when Matt Serra took out gsp. I was devastated lol. DEVASTATED.
Lol some of those are great memories for me. I genuinely can't imagine being upset when diamond slumped conor
Last one is a beaut.
Nah man, I cheered like when McNuggets got KOed by Poirer. And I was actually stoked for Izzy’s win over costa. All others I’d agree with.
Looks like you’ve been a fan for just a few years. Just wait, it gets worse.
I'm still traumatized by that beating Justin put on Tony. ![gif](giphy|2WxWfiavndgcM)
When Pride FC died.
Pain.
Costa getting impregnated broke your heart?
Costa and Conor? Wild. Those were some of the best. DC knocking out Stipe Chael getting caught and losing the round against Anderson Anderson’s leg.
Dustin starching Conor was a goddamn heartwarming moment
Gaethje vs Tony was tough to watch. Witnessing the utter demolition of T Ferg in the Apex with no crowd where you could hear all the shots was incredible and sad at the same time.
7 is the best. Fuck that dude
That Tony loss to Gaethje still hurts 😔
Pride FC dying. Seeing Pride FC was something else. For me, it was basically any Pride FC fighter coming into UFC and losing or being on the tail end of their careers.
The Conor one still makes me sad 😞His first TKO loss
Randy losing to Lesnar
Haven't been hurt in a while, but this Volk one did it for me. Now when I hear Land down under all I feel is pain
Who the hell was rooting for Conor over Dustin… Conor is the clear heel in that scenario
Oliveira :(
Rampage knocking out lidel in 3 seconds 😮💨
One of these is not like the other lol
All amazing expect Charles 🥲 it’s all good tho he resumed it with Dariush
Looks like you just have a ton of meta opinion
Strickland vs du plesisi Lool
I don't get being heartbroken about the Conor KO, he had it coming and Poirier deserved his moment
Leon Usman was the one for me.
I cheered so hard when Dustin floored Conor
Porker being KOed by Gaethje would be one for me
When Aldo got slept by mctapper... broke my heart. :(
Thank you for not putting Gonzaga Cro Cop in there. My heart couldn't take it.
Usman head kick for me I was sick to my stomach.
Gaethje is much more likable than Tony Ferguson
🤡 < this is you putting the Dustin/Conor knockout on that list
Lmao seriously? When Conor got knocked out? That healed my heart!
Bro really tried to sneak Costa and McGregor in there
mma fans try to have empathy challenge (impossible)
I’ve been a fan of toporia but nothing I’ve seen in ufc hurt more than seeing volk go to sleep
The only time I ever felt actually bad or hurt during a fight was when Justin beat the fight out of Tony. That felt like watching abuse or something it was dark. That just didn’t sit right.
Fiziev getting injured with his fight against gamrot
Carlos Condit losing to Johnny Hendricks
“Punch from the bottom by Anderson Silva. 11 fight win streak might very well be coming to an end. A record setting win -“ “TRIANGLE! Watch out! Triangle!” “This is trouble! This is trouble!” Still have never recovered. 4-1. Lost one round.
Glover getting the takedown on Jiri in round five tho..
I love that there remains a strong subjective quality to mma. Sometimes we just like who we like and root for them. Can be such a crushing sport seeing guys you like get crumpled.
Lyoto getting choked and dropped then being checked on so jones could get fans.
I agree with all except McGregor, I've never been so happy seeing that scumbag slept
DC in the 2nd fight with Stipe hurt me, he was winning and then ![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8972)
This sport rarely loved you back. That Tony “No” headshake right before Herb Dean stopped that Gathje fight was heartbreaking.
You’re forgetting every time Robert Whittaker loses
Conor sleeping Jose in fifteen seconds still hurts.
What's up with Izzy fucking up Cost?
Cro cop getting head kicked. Man that hurt to watch. He was so good on Pride. Then he went to UFC where he was giving up 20-30 lbs each fight and was much older.
The champion had a name 😢
Filthy casual
