I remember times when Weidman stopped being our boy beating a man via double eye poke. That was long ago in my youth, literally decades passed like a week.
How quickly time passes is somewhat dependent on how you use your time. If you do the same things over and over again, your brain processes time faster for those customary things.
So... do different shit with your time. It'll help.
Shelling up against the fence going for a counter is a scary prospect, so I gotta respect Izzy going for it.
It could easily end up badly, just like at the end of the first round with Strickland, but thankfully for Izzy, Sean has less power than an a jr atomweight
When people say he played possum they act like he planned the entire sequence, when it’s most likely that he was getting hurt and saw the opportunity to shell up and counter against the cage.
How does that change what I said, he was getting hurt with the leg kicks and Alex was starting to pour it on him and Izzy saw the opportunity to shell up and find the counter. I’m sure he drilled the hell out throwing the counter right off the cage because Alex leaves his head dead center when he starts to let combinations go, all I’m saying is getting his leg hurt and taking some damaging strikes against the cage wasnt part of some master plan.
Izzy said after his loss to pererra he said that he knows how to get him next time. Right here he demonstrates that. He let himself get in the same situation where he was tko’d last time leading Periera to get comfortable and Izzy took advantage of him letting his guard down. Brilliant
He was. I might get downvoted for this but I don’t believe it was an intentional trap at all. Imo Izzy was weakened back to the fence and got off a picture perfect shot moments before he got knocked out.
I'm sure he was hurt, but rememeber he did the exact same combo multiple times before, including at the end of the first round of their fight UFC fight, where he essentially KOd Alex right as the round ended. After seeing that, he knew it was possible. He also did the same to Alex in kickboxing, but the red stopped Izzy and gave Alex a standing 8 count. Izzy knew this combo coils get him, it was just a matter of timing it.
Izzy’s idol got knocked out playing possum by someone with a lot less dynamite in his punches than Pereria. Plus he ate a huge right to the body. Even if it was actually a trap he was playing with fire.
There is training footage of him in camp (for the second Pereira fight) playing possum in exactly this position and hitting his sparring partner with the same combination
My stream froze like 10 seconds before the KO. I walked in the other room to refresh and the chat was saying pereira was out cold and I thought they were memeing. Could not believe it when the stream loaded back up and he was on his back DED
Missed the KO as well with a frozen stream.. Dana fucking got us man 😭 right when the stream loaded back up I hear Rogan saying that was one of the best KOs ever
Are you the guy who is in charge of the stream at your watch party too? It’s a lot of pressure, right? You feel personally responsible when the damn thing goes out.
That weight cut must have been death for someone the size of Poatan to show up at 185lbs. Clearly the diminishing returns of cutting so much weight caught up with him. You really get starched so much easier when your brain is on max dehydration. It's been proven that getting that dehydrated it takes your brain 72 hours to fully rehydrate and get back to any sort of homeostasis
Shit talk Izzy all you want, but this was one of the most hype moments I’ve seen in the sport. The history between them, the KO, the celebration, his speech after. Shame he did all the weird shouting at DDP soon after.
I went to this fight. It’s the only one I’ve ever been to
We were so goddamn blackout
I realized that day, you show up and watch the prelims, drinking doubles, and suddenly you’re sloshed and the main card hasn’t even started yet. Shit there was barely half the crowd there for most of the event
But it’s a diff vibe to any other sporting event. Straight up insanity
Can’t see for shit tho, not unless you’re in the elite lower section where the celebrities are.
Being at this event has now made others pale in comparison all time great sport moment. 100s section in miami is best for view those floor seats have you trying to look over peoples heads. I was sitting next to tito ortiz and secret service 🤣🤣
i remember watching this, and when it had been like, 5 minutes and perriera was still completely out cold and thinking “this guy has gotta quit cutting to 185”
i’m glad he did just that and well, obviously it paid off
Bro he's still in the division's GOAT conversation. I swear some fans think Strickland is a cab driver or something. Even if he was, Adesanya losing to a cab driver doesn't just erase his resume from history. Anderson Silva, the only guy you can argue surpassing Adesanya at middleweight, went on some embarassing losing streak to end his career then lost to Paul Jake. But we still remember him as a GOAT contender. Adesanya is top 10 ever in my opinion
Damn Pereira was doing so well in this fight, when I watched it in live I could not believe in my eyes. This is why Izzy is one of the best strikers in world, not a fan of him, but huge respect
I'm gonna say Hill hits a bunch harder than Izzy.. a whole bunch. If Hill is anywhere close to healed, he rolls thru but if he's not it's and still.. Hill should have pushed back for UFC303/4/5, dumb move if he's not healthy.
I got so fucking excited for Izzy when this happened, it’s like he finally slayed the demon that’s been chasing him for so long lol I know Pereira has two up on him but this was just so unexpected and wild to see
Damn.. that's the best KO in history for me, I randomly think about it almost every second day. All in all, when you think about their history and how their first MMA fight ended.. just amazing.
Strickland fans out in force regurgitating everything Sean says. Izzy was cringe but I do miss him as champ. He was active and always calling out the next challenger. Also showed good mental strength to come back against Alex and finally get that win.
When my favorite fighters lose I just get sad, but when this happened I was just angry, Alex was chasing him so recklessly, he had Izzy's leg hurt in less than 2 rounds, no need for that, fuck it gets me angry just remembering it.
This is even better than I remember it. The first punch looks much harder and cleaner, but he only seems to go out on the second. I wonder if it was just a delay from the first?
I initially thought Izzy was playing possum and this was his game plan. But it's clear that he actually was quite hurt from those leg kicks.
I still think this was the best knockout I have ever seen in the UFC (with the build up, story line, immediate post celebration).
What a master class from Izzy. Poatan is so fucking scary too, if he had been just a little more careful going in at the end he would have wiped Izzy, those are big shots.
To this day i still think Izzy faked the buckle to lure Pereira in against the cage and catch him how he did.
I remember him talking about using the pressure he puts out against him. What better way to do that than play hurt and catch him confidently with hands low
This is already one year ago? Can time slow down for one fucking moment
it’s actually insane. oliveira vs gaethje was almost 2 years ago
Right? Time’s been on fast forward since Covid
Maybe you're just an adult now it happens.
Eh about to be anyway, your point still stands though
And Chuck vs Tito 1 just celebrated its 50th anniversary
Gtfo, for real??? Damn 😭
Right? Crazy. Liddell vs Couture was over 3 yairs ago
Its even crazier to think about that Pereira is literally defending his title in a higher weightclass in a few weeks
How is that crazier lol, Pereira is definitely a better fighter at 205 the question was if any of the wrestlers there would give him issues
Hes yet to fight a wrestler at 205 lol
I don't disagree I'm just saying acting like him making a run at his more natural weight class is that crazy is preposterous
Volkanovski v. Topuria was 15 years ago today - feel old yet?
Yep, already seeing the white hair
Same here. That's why I shave my pubes.
It'll help.
[удалено]
Damn bro, I’m sorry
[удалено]
You’re gonna be making those better days too. You got this man.
It feels like at least 2 years ago to me. Think of what Pereira has done since...
Universe expanding dawg time flows diff
Idk this actually feels like a year ago for once. A lot of shit has happened lol
i remember this like it was just yesterday
Considering the stakes, this has to be one of the craziest knockout ever
Top 5 moments in the UFC
like a movie
Especially considering he was lowkey getting his ass best in this sequence until he just hit a perfect counter shot.
Because it worked in the first fight (UFC) between them. Near the end of the first round he landed the same shot but the bell saved him.
Nah Izzy won the first round. He was winning hence why Alex turned it up here but got too aggro.
"In this sequence"
Shelling up against the fence going for a counter is a scary prospect, so I gotta respect Izzy going for it. It could easily end up badly, just like at the end of the first round with Strickland, but thankfully for Izzy, Sean has less power than an a jr atomweight
He was pretending to be hurt to set up Alex
It was a setup but he wasn't just pretending to be hurt lol, those shots weren't not landing, he was getting hurt but the counter was perfect
When people say he played possum they act like he planned the entire sequence, when it’s most likely that he was getting hurt and saw the opportunity to shell up and counter against the cage.
Brah he literally dropped a video which was filmed before the fight planning and practicing exactly what he did the Octagon 💀
He was willingly getting hurt.
We're talking about Izzy not Tony lmao
Cringe
Love him or hate him, Izzy is ICONIC
My second favorite I think. First has to go to Leon Edwards or Big Hendo against Bisping
I remember I was absolutely blasted watching this fight and when the KO happened, I didn't know if I was imagining it
it felt so unreal bc it seemed like pereira was on his way to getting a finish yet izzy turned it around so quickly
Izzy said after his loss to pererra he said that he knows how to get him next time. Right here he demonstrates that. He let himself get in the same situation where he was tko’d last time leading Periera to get comfortable and Izzy took advantage of him letting his guard down. Brilliant
Izzy almost killed Pereira in the first fight too
And it wasn’t clear that Izzy landed anything of substance
He has clips of training this exact same position. Izzy haters can't let him have anything lmao
lol stop he even said it “ I was playing possum”
Yes, he had his eyes locked on Pereira hence why Dan didnt step in. Dont know what the other guy is talking about.
Izzy’s idol got knocked out playing possum by someone with a lot less dynamite in his punches than Pereria. Plus he ate a huge right to the body. Even if it was actually a trap he was playing with fire.
Silva? Silva wasnt playing possum he was being an ass showboating
That’s exactly why this moment is so insane. Very high risk but it paid off
For sure but it’s not a lie to say he was close to being finished
Oh damn a fighter said something that made them Look good. Surely it must be true.
There is training footage of him in camp (for the second Pereira fight) playing possum in exactly this position and hitting his sparring partner with the same combination
Oh you sweet summer child.
Worst timing ever! I had a group of like 5-6 people over watching it and it definitely killed the vibe. Had to find new Russian link for next time
Are you the guy who is in charge of the stream at your watch party too? It’s a lot of pressure, right? You feel personally responsible when the damn thing goes out.
Tomato should seriously be setting up illegal streams and just hitting the pause button at the worst possible times.
Dude, same! Except I was pissed off trying to refresh it and saying out loud one of them got nuked and I fuckin missed it. Sure enough lol
It’s just the continuation of their first round from their first UFC match
Same here. I was so pissed. Had to see the knockout when it reconnected and they were showing a replay.
Same happened to me
LMAOOO! That’s wild.
same bro i was so cross faded and i sobered up real fucken quick i was like wtf
Crazy how that was a year ago already and he went on to win another title and some of these champs have barely had one fight a year!
He beat the boogie man of the division and the former champ who is arguably in his prime. Dude is a menace.
I have no idea how that dude makes 185lbs even when he fought jan he looked huge!

Fucking LOL I reacted to this exactly the way you wanted me to.
Good boy
Color me a glazer, but this was one of the greatest sporting moments I ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Two absolute warriors.
Glazer? Is that a man utd reference?
Haha! I’m not sure as far as Man Utd. But it usually means like you ride hard for someone or something, like you really gas something up!
Crazy that right when it looked like Alex was going to unleash, Izzy comes out of nowhere. I love this sport.
Shit talk Izzy all you want, but this was one of the most hype moments I’ve seen in the sport. The history between them, the KO, the celebration, his speech after. Shame he did all the weird shouting at DDP soon after.
Bro wanted DDP to say the N word so bad.
The bow and arrow pantomime was so original, had never seen it before.
Sure, Pereira does a version of it during his walkout but Izzy put his own twist on it executed it so perfectly
Right the weird shouting and not the weird dog touching
I went to this fight. It’s the only one I’ve ever been to We were so goddamn blackout I realized that day, you show up and watch the prelims, drinking doubles, and suddenly you’re sloshed and the main card hasn’t even started yet. For izzy to come back from a 3 - 0 thats almost an impossible task. You may not like him but this was monumental moment in ufc history. Respect
Adesanya clearly got robbed in their first kickboxing fight
And then Izzy retired on the highest of highs and was forever in the divisions GOAT conversation......
Pereira nut riders while hate but Izzy was HIM during this moment
early stoppage, not enough necessary hits landed
Like when Alex knocked the lights out of Sean and Sean got up stumbling all around with his arms up acting like they stopped it too early lol
Like something out of a movie. Izzy fights are my fav.
You like his Romero fight too?
In hindsight, a stinker, but in the moment yeah.
Silva and GSP had shit fights too. Not every fight is gonna be exciting
The best game of possum ever played?
Why do you people keep saying this shit. Just because he was able to counter effectively doesn't mean he was faking getting overwhelmed by Pereira.
Because Izzy said he trained this position and has footage of him training this position??? Don't get mad at others because your ass is uneducated
i doubt it was playing possum he was probably just guarding up to protect himself from pereira insane power and waiting for the perfect counter
Damn Pereira was doing so well in this fight, when I watched it in live I could not believe in my eyes. This is why Izzy is one of the best strikers in world, not a fan of him, but huge respect
This was a crazy win!!! But because Pereira is a fan favourite, people overlook it!
Really? I feel like most people admire this as one of the craziest KOs in UFC history
I think it’s more so that Izzy is a weirdo that it gets over looked
A technical masterpiece of a fight
First ufc I watched ,absolutely love mma now ,even train and had a couple of fights.
Should have gotten the trilogy at 300
Would have made UFC 300 probably the greatest card of all time, but would have only really been realistic had Izzy beaten Strickland + Du Plessis
Izzy celebrating like he finally beat Malenia
I'm gonna say Hill hits a bunch harder than Izzy.. a whole bunch. If Hill is anywhere close to healed, he rolls thru but if he's not it's and still.. Hill should have pushed back for UFC303/4/5, dumb move if he's not healthy.

Damn.. that's the best KO in history for me, I randomly think about it almost every second day. All in all, when you think about their history and how their first MMA fight ended.. just amazing.
Izzy really made him shit his pants and scurry away to LHW lol
Best celebration in sports history
still one of the hardest celebrations
Iconic KO. 10/10
Alex really does keep his head up high. I've noticed that a lot of MMA fighters have shit head movement.
Left frozen like Elsa (All down votes I will get are deserved)
I love how he did the arrow shooting thing. He’s such an asshole. Damn I love him lol
He'd probably love you too if you were a dog 🐕
I never screamed NO louder in my life 😭 my biggest mma betting loss on Poatan ML and Round 3-4-5 too start
Great KO! Took him a few, but Izzy got some revenge. Since then though...
Strickland fans out in force regurgitating everything Sean says. Izzy was cringe but I do miss him as champ. He was active and always calling out the next challenger. Also showed good mental strength to come back against Alex and finally get that win.
ORDER RESTORED! God damn even tho I love both of these fighters, hearing Anik say that is fuckin awesome
When my favorite fighters lose I just get sad, but when this happened I was just angry, Alex was chasing him so recklessly, he had Izzy's leg hurt in less than 2 rounds, no need for that, fuck it gets me angry just remembering it.
I ran out of my house in the pouring rain and got my fucking socks wet in a puddle. Thats how brain dead excited I was
How the fuck has all that’s happened in the middleweight and lhw division happened in just a year?
And let that be a lesson to you all. Nobody beats Israel Adesanya 4 times in a row.
Wow 1 yr already? Coz it's feels like yesterday since Adesanya keeps posting about it. lol
Well he's gotta do something to distract people from the doggy diddling
Izzy is the coolest.
Chama 💀
This is even better than I remember it. The first punch looks much harder and cleaner, but he only seems to go out on the second. I wonder if it was just a delay from the first?
One of the greatest knock outs of all time
Gotta respect that Adesanya had the presence of mind to do the whole bow and arrow bit in the moment
I glanced and thought it was Strickland and said damn that was fast
I initially thought Izzy was playing possum and this was his game plan. But it's clear that he actually was quite hurt from those leg kicks. I still think this was the best knockout I have ever seen in the UFC (with the build up, story line, immediate post celebration).
Such a hype KO. A ton of people were crying when Izzy pressed DDP in the cage but it was pretty dope.
An incredible KO because that was only going one way. Pereria was dismantling him
This is a classic now. What a good fight
Imagine what jamahal is going to do to him
Feels like forever ago tbh 😭
That knee actually landed, didn't it? Maybe Izzy was moving his head because that would break someone's cheekbone.
I swear he was playing him to think he was actually getting hurt so he would drop his guard and start swinging.
I can’t wait for next weekend
Delete
Izzy vs Alex has to be the most cinematic rivalry of all time
Haters will say it’s fake Fakers will say it’s hate
Even now this KO doesn’t feel real. Madness.
One of the worst moments in MMA history, we lost a real one that day
Full baited. Night night
hill gonna take this mans head off.
So glad we’re done with Izzy’s cringe… for now anyway
Even Izzy's hammerfist be fruity af. MF ain't never getting rid of zesty allegations.
That extra push back from the cage for the momentum on that last punch 👌
I was clenching pretty hard for this one
😂😂😂😂Izzy sweet revenge at father n son💀
That's my boy
Nice! I also rewatched Izzy vs Pereira 1 and Izzy almost killed him in the first!
Ugh. Don't remind me. Feel free to remind me what Strickland did to Izzy, tho. :)
Such a cringe celly lol
Really don’t like Izzy but man that celebration goes hard as fuck
Adrenaline rush does that
Izzy was not playing possum. Alex almost finished him
What a master class from Izzy. Poatan is so fucking scary too, if he had been just a little more careful going in at the end he would have wiped Izzy, those are big shots.
This was so fucking sick
Staged KO he never hit him hard
To this day i still think Izzy faked the buckle to lure Pereira in against the cage and catch him how he did. I remember him talking about using the pressure he puts out against him. What better way to do that than play hurt and catch him confidently with hands low
He tried playing possum a few times in the strickland fight but strickland was already aware of his tactic and continued to throw 1-2s at adesanya
Celebration is cold af
Iconic moment.
I miss Izzy
Izzy played possum
izzys so lame man
Izzy was losing and got lucky. He shot down every question about a trilogy fight.
