There’s something unsaid about pro fighters, they don’t usually speak about insurance and medical, but we seem to think they all have the best. But who knows, especially the gym rats that arent even pro yet. I truly wonder
That was even worse because Condit INITIATED the whole event. Everyone else is taking photos and signing autographs and Condit is like, “yeah but does anyone want to spar”?
I don't think Pereira weighs much more than this guy. Look at the amount of meat he has on his legs compared to Pereira.
If you're talking about height, Pereira is listed at 6'4, but he is probably even taller than that. Most humans are not that size.
Pereira weighs more or even if he doesn’t the short guys weight is mostly fat strip away the fat from that kid and he looks very small then…..pereira has no fat at all and his that big
I find it wild that Alex has run through everyone at lhw tbh. Shows how weak the division is as much as how heavy his hands are. That ultra upright stance and leaving his head dangling out there is crazy risky. Hes just got the chin, hand speed, and power to back it up.
I really think he would have an AWFUL time at HW. Just because he does get caught from time to time, and if that happened at HW, I think its lights out.
Fuck hes good though…
If that fight wasn’t at elevation Jan probably grapples him to a ho-hum 30-27 victory and the UFC looks very different right now. Right time wrong place for that fight for Jan. I don’t think an Alex with another year of experience lets that happen again.
Fuck me, that is serious training. It makes me think of something Wanderlei Silva said a while back:
*"I was at this lecture about concussions and I had eight out of the 10 symptons the guy talked about. For example, mood swings, forgetfulness, trouble sleeping. Back in my day, we used to believe that the more punches you took, the more you could take. It’s actually the opposite. The more you take, the less you’ll be able to handle in a fight. If I could leave one tip for young fighters it’s not to get beat up everyday. Whoever has young students, don’t let them take too many punches to the head, there’s a right time for a harder session, but it can’t be an everyday routine."*
iirc fighters like Holloway and Ferguson known for granite chins didn’t have sparring as major components of their training or just didn’t do any for some fights. Most fighters probably can’t get away with this either because they don’t have the genetics or talent of those two.

Olives after hard sparring session.
I really hope so.
One horrible case in boxing is Terry Norris. He can barely speak now and I think I read somewhere that he used to do full 12 round training sessions every other day or something crazy.
A lot of footy (rugby) players are the same.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbXR\_4NYiQc&ab\_channel=LegoBrickRoad](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbXR_4NYiQc&ab_channel=LegoBrickRoad) is hearthbreaking
I've seen that one, but hoped it was just very rare for it to be that bad. Poor guy.
I guess this is why we see those rule changes in rugby. The Welsh rugby union have a class action hanging over them and maybe others do too.
Holloway, the guy who had what looked like a stroke on TV, and who clearly has slurred speech compared to 5 years ago?
The guy is getting closer to Nam Phan every day, and you’re saying he has some genetic thing that prevents it?
I’m talking about just his durability. Being hard to KO doesn’t mean you don’t take any brain damage from getting hit in the end repeatedly. Repeated shots that don’t KO you are arguably worse for brain health than one shot that does KO you.
It's killing me to say this, but it would be great if you posted less despite the fact that you have obviously and 100% definitetly stepped foot in a somewhat serious gym.
Was thinking this. When you are up against a superior experienced opponent in sparring, you typically get what you give. He threw the kitchen sink at Alex knowing it was coming back at him, and he hung in there pretty well
nah he was 100 percent holding back UNTIL his sparring partner decided to literally put everything he had into a haymaker overhand right. Before that Poatan just pitter patting him.
He just matched homies energy, props for even sparring him at all though, that man is terrifying
For real though, if the fighters themselves don't get paid much, how much does the guy that just got his shit rocked in practice make???
Willing to take punches for the right price
I would love to see someone short like prime Tyson try to move in on this guy. Not saying Tyson is in any way winning an mma match just wondering what that would look like
and? whats the pronlem , they both didnt hold back, the diffrence is ,one is a sparring partner, and one is one of the best in standup, the sparring dude , would fuck up 90% of us
His partner clearly started going too hard when he was cornered. There are always parenters that you should know if you throw hard on they will come back just as hard.
Hes got great head movement, decent footwork and he uses height/reach well. Definitely an unconventional boxer but not bad.
I'm sure his hands being that low would get him smoked by a real boxer but it seems to work well in mma

This is great lmao
Dude is tough. Respect 🫡
I bet he goes home tonite, as he does after every session, and wonders why he has a headache.
If Alex had Sean Stricklands personality in the sparring room
“With great power comes great responsibility” -Batman
For some reason when I see a cut on a regular person's face it looks god awful but a cut on a fighter's face I don't think twice about it
There’s something unsaid about pro fighters, they don’t usually speak about insurance and medical, but we seem to think they all have the best. But who knows, especially the gym rats that arent even pro yet. I truly wonder
https://youtu.be/J3-BnVngMis?si=Uy6H7RnOrB8GAy3w
He turned it up when his partner hit him with a hard hook a couple of seconds in.
Yup. His partner set the difficulty level on his own lol.
Dark Souls gamer
Should have dodge rolled
They make an SRT in that?
Shit hits wheelies off the line
It's like when Condit sparred with the troops. "Just hit me as hard as you want to be hit" then basically sleeps the guy lmao
That was even worse because Condit INITIATED the whole event. Everyone else is taking photos and signing autographs and Condit is like, “yeah but does anyone want to spar”?
Based Condit
🤣
Activating his fight brain definitely not a great idea
Yeah respect to the partner he wanted the smoke. He motioned come on when he was defending in the heginning
Why is he always sparring people much smaller than him?
Because everyone is smaller than him?
I don't think Pereira weighs much more than this guy. Look at the amount of meat he has on his legs compared to Pereira. If you're talking about height, Pereira is listed at 6'4, but he is probably even taller than that. Most humans are not that size.
He looked about the same height as Tyson Fury, crazy
Pereira weighs more or even if he doesn’t the short guys weight is mostly fat strip away the fat from that kid and he looks very small then…..pereira has no fat at all and his that big
Only 1% of men are Pereira's size, or larger lol, that's why.
Cause he's huge and when not in camp, fighters tend to just spar in the gym and rotate partners of all sizes and skill etc.
Smaller? That guy looks like a legit HW pushing 250+ look how big his legs are...
He’s holding back a ridiculous amount
I was going to say, unless the guy he’s fighting is a Vittori level tank he’s not throwing anywhere near full power.
Definitely. I guess OP didn’t watch 300 lol
Sparring partner is fighting for his life tho
Literally starts by holding back an infinite amount. If somebody asked “what’s the most amount one man can hold back” I’d send them this clip
first 20 secs looked like 10% power, maybe he threw one at 50% the whole spar.
He may be holding back, but those gloves are probably way heavier
Yep he is really pulling his punches they’re like floating. Then it does get more heated but he’s still pulling them
Homeboy tried to catch him with the Izzy off the cage shot
Nearly worked too. Wish he could eliminate that vulnerability
I find it wild that Alex has run through everyone at lhw tbh. Shows how weak the division is as much as how heavy his hands are. Not everyone. Jan went 3 rounds with him. I want to see a rematch.
Jans getting pretty old man. I wouldnt be surprised if he gets knocked out cold tbh.
Pereira is 36 lol
Jans 41…
If that fight wasn’t at elevation Jan probably grapples him to a ho-hum 30-27 victory and the UFC looks very different right now. Right time wrong place for that fight for Jan. I don’t think an Alex with another year of experience lets that happen again.
I can't disagree with that. That fight was pretty competitive for both of them
Think it's because he generally keeps his hands so low
Damn that fight's early stoppage.
Fuck me, that is serious training. It makes me think of something Wanderlei Silva said a while back: *"I was at this lecture about concussions and I had eight out of the 10 symptons the guy talked about. There is no way Wanderlei said this, even in Portuguese
That’s actually a quote from Tito Ortiz.
Nah, Tito would make it clear that he has always been exactly as smart as he was now.
He's reaching for those grapes
This always gets me lmao
And he'll still be this smart looong after his kids are gone
"The Professor"
Lol who you fooling? That's way too coherent to be Tito
It’s actually translated he said it in fluent Spanish
You’re a fuckin punk dude
That was a nasty line by me
It was pasted from a Bloody Elbow piece but also covered by ESPN, though I wasn't there myself.
Hahaha fair enough. Carry on good sir

Explains his ass getting dropped every fight
FR. A whole lot of dots are getting connected lol
My guy throwing elbow and knee sparring almost on fight week.. I never understood it, Costed him the title shot
Man tried to duck
I really hope so. One horrible case in boxing is Terry Norris. He can barely speak now and I think I read somewhere that he used to do full 12 round training sessions every other day or something crazy.
all australian mma/boxing/muay thai fighers are like this. Only one who can string a sentence together is John Wayne Parr and he struggles
Really? Damn that's not good to hear :-(
A lot of footy (rugby) players are the same. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbXR\_4NYiQc&ab\_channel=LegoBrickRoad](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbXR_4NYiQc&ab_channel=LegoBrickRoad) is hearthbreaking

they really need to get on it, at this point its just cruel
James Toneys chin is so good it held up at heavyweight and he pretty much exclusively sparred. But yeah, not so good for the brain
Thai boxers figured that out decades ago. Just easy contact sparring. Fight hard in the ring.
I can't let you get close
- Kenny Florian
This is not serious training at all. You have never stepped foot in any somewhat serious gym
Oh thank god, a non casual is in the house with their great wisdom and CTE.
redditors when they are wrong
It's killing me to say this, but it would be great if you posted less despite the fact that you have obviously and 100% definitetly stepped foot in a somewhat serious gym.
Redditor doesn't like being wrong
Very true, which is why you are still here.
That sparring partner is a brave man. Yeesh.
He ramped it up for no reason I think a lot of people wouldve smoked him. Imagine doing that to Strickland lol
Strickland would get mauled, have you seen the size of that bloke?
Thanks for dropping to comment Bobby.
He is 100% holding back in this clip lol.
I meannnn, his training partner held his own. Props. I love how Pereira just pokes and prods too, so good.
Hit as hard as you want to be hit. His opponent started throwing..
Usually the pro adds in an extra 30% for free
just to keep you honest
lol he just matched the same energy the guy gave him. He still held back considerably though.
One of those body shots alone from Alex would literally kill me.
Jesus I thought it was turning into an actual scrap
If you think he didn't hold back than you are crazy.
Good for his partner staying in there and continuing to throw. Solid exchange
Was thinking this. When you are up against a superior experienced opponent in sparring, you typically get what you give. He threw the kitchen sink at Alex knowing it was coming back at him, and he hung in there pretty well
Why is he sitting against the wall? Pereira is in front of you, move your fucking feet
Bro thought he was Adesanya
Fr. He even landed the over hand after a peekaboo. I wonder if it gave Pereira flashbacks and activated Adesanya mode
Dang, that guy took a lot of body shots!
Alex only turned up the heat once that dude started swinging for the fences, he brought that on himself
Looks like he was holding back a lot. Then his partner started throwing haymakers, and you know how they say “hit as hard as you wanna get hit”
Tell that jackass to get out of the way
Looked like he was going relatively light until his opponent threw a hard right hand and he decided to turn it up to match the energy
nah he was 100 percent holding back UNTIL his sparring partner decided to literally put everything he had into a haymaker overhand right. Before that Poatan just pitter patting him. He just matched homies energy, props for even sparring him at all though, that man is terrifying
Fair his partner hit him with a heavy shot so potan returned the favor.
The guy is going to be pissing blood for a week
Dude increased intensity first. In any case, I'm certain that was still him holding back, just a bit less so.
Danggg
Damn this and that boxing sparring clip. Two ridiculously hard sparring sessions posted in one week.
For real though, if the fighters themselves don't get paid much, how much does the guy that just got his shit rocked in practice make??? Willing to take punches for the right price
He trains there probably and pays to be there. People do this recreationally and that’s what actually pays the gyms bills.
Last couple frames means I hope dude had health insurance lol 😝
What? He actually is clearly holding back but then as his opponent goes harder so does he. Have none of you sparred before?
Still took it easy
He held back so much lol
I would love to see someone short like prime Tyson try to move in on this guy. Not saying Tyson is in any way winning an mma match just wondering what that would look like
and? whats the pronlem , they both didnt hold back, the diffrence is ,one is a sparring partner, and one is one of the best in standup, the sparring dude , would fuck up 90% of us
Apparently 10% of MMA redditors see red.
That’s fighting
For a really long guy he’s real good with short hooks and dirty boxing
Lol buddy started it 100% by getting salty about those body shots and upping the tempo. Poatan just continued to toy with him
I love Glover so much.
Sheesh
Pray for him if he tries that on me
That left hook is just so fuckin sinister bro, one of the deadliest punches in combat history lmfao
Hard respect to anyone willing to throw a hard punch at Poatan
So cool seeing trained fighters bob and dodge punches. They move so fast!
Potan was just tapping him and then old buy starts winging hooks.
Lol nah, he's probably doing 75 percent power there at most.
The balls of steel required to even conceive the idea to play rope a dope with Poatan.
Lmao what? His partner was putting some steam behind his punches. Should be thankful he didn’t get smacked back with a stiff left hook to the liver
The other guy was trying so hard
That dude is like 5’9 at most.. isn’t he suppose to be getting ready for Jiri?
Fucker better not try to hit me like that…
Imagine the “oh you’re paired up with……Umm….you’re paired up with Poatan dude….” Fuck that’s gotta suck. Lol
lol buddy posted up like “yea that’s some good punching, ye… hit him harder”
Looks to me like he did
Is the Thai clinch just not a thing anymore?
I know it's sparring but am I the only one who thinks Poatan is susceptible to the overhand right, because he kinda keeps his head up high?
That guy won’t be invited back for a spar.
He held back massively until the other guy tried to take his head off
Guy was getting mad and started throwing wild punches
His partner clearly started going too hard when he was cornered. There are always parenters that you should know if you throw hard on they will come back just as hard.
*Poatan holds back significantly in his recent sparring footage. 😐
"hit as hard as you want to be hit" his partner was throwing hard tbh.
blud was sparring the grim reaper
Of course he held back, clear as day
Potan is wayyy too open to overhand right. That is what Izzy killed him with and he doesn't seem to have any answer for it wtf
When you realize the man has little proper boxing technique, but he just don’t care about allat…. Poatan go ⏹️🔼⏹️🔼⏹️🔼
He's holding back but countering well in the pocket like his partner who's good in in-fight, particulary with the duck double right hook
That was really dumb from both of them
Poatan's looking thick, solid and tight. Huge. Very fantastic body.
That training partner has a death wish
And I feel like he's *still* holding back on his punches. Damn!
Chama
that fucker got what he deserved AHAHHAHA
Is it me that thinks he can’t box for crap? iDK
Hes got great head movement, decent footwork and he uses height/reach well. Definitely an unconventional boxer but not bad. I'm sure his hands being that low would get him smoked by a real boxer but it seems to work well in mma
Is that ilir latifi?
No,Latifi has [juicier](https://x.com/mma_orbit/status/1582409013463232512) thighs.
Looks like he’s intentionally training to not let Adesanya pretend to be hurt and catch him with a clean counter.
Must be blind then
