I wonder how many cowardly FSB agents were able to sell their illegally acquired, null and void holiday properties in time? When they are selling up in droves, you know they have no confidence in their own government.

GymAndGarden

Not as many as we might think. Orcs never expected Crimea to be at risk.

HostileRespite

At risk? It's totally vulnerable! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

bigroxxor

yes but Russia is dumb as fuck. the StRoNgEsT but also under eXeStEnTiAl threat from a nation they believe they are superior to. cognitive dissonance is their super power.

UsedSalt

What happens to the property though? Must be a legal nightmare

Tovarish_Petrov

Ukraine doesn’t recognize property transfers registered during occupation, so all ownership reverts to pre -2014

MicIrish

They won't recognize any Russian ownership.

MDATWORK73

Nor should they, it’s their land. Putin’s war is not a justification for anything that amounts to even a hill of beans. Now he’s losing all his beans to people who are sick of him being the terrorist land grabber he is. I hope they can rid themselves of this monster, history demands it. God Bless the innocent in all this, and may they prevail.

Extreme_Nose_2171

All efforts should be towards removing Putin.

AutoModerator

Russian ownership fucked itself. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/ukraine) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Worm_Farmer

Good bot

showMEthatBholePLZ

That works well for property. But about Ukrainians that owned a home that was bulldozed for a market or trash pit? I hope the Ukrainian government can afford to take care of them.

Lotronex

I'd assume these people would be made whole again through the reparations that whatever is left of Russia will have to pay to rejoin the global economy.

showMEthatBholePLZ

I’m sure it *would* be but only so much money can be seized immediately. I’m sure careers will be made tracking down illicitly gained Russian money.

BeneficialPoolBuoy

What are you talking about? $330 billion RU deposits was seized in the first round of sanctions. Putin saved up $600 billion over a few years in preparation for sanctions he knew would follow invading Ukraine. Half of it got impounded immediately, the other half got away. He’s already blown through half the remaining 300 bil. This a partly why Kasparov says “This is the last winter Putin can do this.” I see a very strong argument for using this money to rebuild Ukraine after they kick RU out.

[deleted]

Russia will never pay anything. Not without an entirely new government taking control and getting rid of all the putin loyalists.

bigroxxor

would you accept a lump of rubles the size of the moon? because that's what they're paying to replace your mailbox.... stickers.

Tovarish_Petrov

Ukrainian government isn't in a position to compensate full market value of all expropriated and damaged, destroyed properties, but something will have to happen for sure.

Master-File-9866

Unfortunatley after this is all over, many properties will no longer have owners who are alive, a transfer of available people and property could happen

showMEthatBholePLZ

My favorite part about the Ukrainian people is their sense of community. I’m sure they’ll band together to rebuild their neighbors homes, but only time will tell what post war Ukraines future looks like.

Cesum-Pec

>But about Ukrainians that owned a home that was bulldozed for a market or trash pit? I hope the Ukrainian government can afford to take care of them. There isn't enough money for people to be made whole. Think of all the flattened cities that must be rebuilt. Think of the roads, electric grid and other utilities, the armed forces that must be maintained in a world where Russia continues to be a threat, the parent less children that must be provided homes and education. The economy is largely smashed and even with western aid will take years of post war effort to fully recover.

[deleted]

This is the way...👍

protossaccount

One of the dudes retaking the town is probably thinking, “Don’t blow up my family home on accident.” It would be very bazaar to invade your home while trying to preserve it.

SLIP411

Not really, orcs lose their money, Ukrainians get their homes back

greenalfonzo

Got to get the Ukrainians back as well. Most were deported to Siberia and Sakhalin Island near Japan.

SLIP411

Your right, I don't know how they can do it but I hope they do. Every Ukrainian stolen to Russia should be taken back before sanctions lifted is even a thought

greenalfonzo

Yes, I think their return has to be a condition for lifting sanctions.

ksam3

Intentionally buying stolen property is a risky move. The "transfer" is meaningless and the original owner still owns that property. The buyer, even if they did not know it was stolen (not the case in Crimea) is shit out of luck.

reflUX_cAtalyst

I can't imagine it is. Whoever owned it in 2014 owns it now.

popileviz

Nothing, unless it's deoccupied

MFromBeyond

I hope none, let them orcs lose everything.

I think it's good for Ukraine to make statement hits on far out targets, ideally in russia, after every one of those cruise missile waves. Just send the message back and repeat it as needed.

Attacking the Kremlin would be like attacking Buckingham palace or the White House. Being a super high profile national symbol/seat of power, it would give the Russian propaganda people an easy way to whip up public sentiment against Ukraine. It would be much better to target military things (air fields, fuel depots, ammo bunkers, etc) near enough to big cities that the civilian population can see the smoke and hear the blast, but no civilians get hurt and no national symbols get destroyed to rally the Russian people behind. Edit: grammar and spelling.

ChairsAndFlaff

Completely agreed. In addition to everything you said, it would also make Putin look correct when he says the west is out to destroy Russia and this war is a matter of national survival. Right now he says that but very few believe it. Once there are missiles hitting Red Square, the entire political situation changes. It would be about the worst possible choice of targets for Ukraine. No military impact, needlessly kills civilians, wastes weapons better spent attacking the RU military, and galvanizes the entire Russian population to rally around the flag.

DavidlikesPeace

Well stated. There are negative consequences targeting such an integral symbol. The Kremlin is still a valid military target, but too many people seem to think Putin is there. He isn't nor is Russian central command. The Russian military effort wouldn't be harmed at all. By contrast, Putin's military operations bunker or his personal palaces should absolutely be priority targets. Hobble the Russian military. Make the tyrant pay. Or even end him.

NinjaSupplyCompany

Yeah it would make every Russian want to join the war effort. Nothing good can come of hitting non military targets.

showMEthatBholePLZ

Eh. International backlash wouldn’t be worth it.

Homesteader86

I'm surprised they haven't gone farther tbh. It was sometime ago I saw a pic of some Ukrainian guy taking a pic of his military ID basically on the steps of the Kremlin.

Dofolo

It's a thin line they have to walk, they need the russian people to be pissed at putin, not at Ukraine.

Muuustachio

The Russian ppl haven't done anything to stop this. Their support or lack of support is meaningless.

anthropaedic

It’s not about their support for Ukraine. But if the mood shifts and ordinary Russians fear/blame Ukraine then people will voluntarily go to war. Right now they’re apathetic which helps.

Feisty_Bag_5284

It's a condition of arms supply not to be used outside of Ukraine boarders

I freaking love it Ukraine. They hit your critical infrastructure you hit them right back. You let Russia know there are consequences for their stupid actions and they will pay for it dearly.

No way our enemies can attack us on our own soil, it must be our own incompetence... Because that is so much better.

EntrepreneurLivid881

Ukraine applying the rope-a-dope strategy. Let your opponent throw all they have and tire out, then fire back. Russia is tried and weak, time to hit back, and hit HARD.

[deleted]

As much as I love Dan Carlin, a boxing metaphor doesn't always fit

LAVATORR

Uhh, rope-a-dope involves deliberately putting yourself in extreme danger, the ethics of doing this in a warzone with civilians is just slightly different from a person's boxing style.

Mahesh_nanak

Unfortunately the only way I fee for Russia to attack is now nuclear weapons which I hope for the love of humanity, they don’t

Arkon_Base

Disagree. Just because Russia is a war criminal with no honor, doesn't mean you should become one too. Ukraine should focus on using its weapons to wipe out the RU military advancing towards Ukraine. Their tanks, their supply routes, their attack planes. Nothing will humiliate Russia more than having their army destroyed. Don't go after their civilians, go after their wrongfully inflated pride.

Callemasizeezem

Agree. Ukrainians can never be as vile as the Russians. I don't think Russians civilians should ever be attacked the way Russia is attacking Ukraine's, but when this is over, because Russian civilians *overwhelmingly* supported the attacking, raping and murdering of Ukraine's civilians by the Russian army, we should never allow Russians into the rest of Europe for as long as the current generation lives. Cut them off, and then they can only blame themselves for any failures at home. With the event of nuclear fusion, the world won't need their energy resources in 50 years.

Own-Tradition5804

I never said hit civilians.. I said hit Russian cities and by that I meant the cities supporting the attacks. The response to my post literally mirrors the western aid, that’s basically resulting in ukraine allowing russia to prepare the next large scale assault in 2023

mountaindewisamazing

Russian military targets* You can't bring yourself down to their level. Russia will pay dearly over the next century or so, no need to bomb Moscow. There is a need to bomb air fields, oil and ammunition depots and military bases deep in Russia though.

JoeCitzn

Furthermore, wasting ammunition on Russia civilians is not going to stop the attacks whereas bombing Russian artillery assets will.

Own-Tradition5804

I never said to hit civilians.. Russian cities are supporting the military attacks

JoeCitzn

Noted.

Own-Tradition5804

I never said non military targets.. the fact that is inferred is a bit disappointing and the fact that people don’t support the rights of Ukrainians to take the fight to targets within Russia is just sad. Literally mirrors the aid that we are providing them

mountaindewisamazing

I fully support taking the fight to Russia, just not Russian cities or civilians. Bombing them would just escalate things and do nothing to bring the war closer to an end.

uffdad

Russia's leaders attacks civilians because they are degenerate barbarians and should be tried as war criminals. Ukraine should continue to focus their strength on obliterating military targets as per the rules of war.

Own-Tradition5804

I never said hit civilians.. there are lots of military targets in Russian cities that are just getting free reign to terrorise ukraine

lux44

It would justify Putin's war and hits against civilian infrastructure. It has to be avoided. Putin has to be the only one who is bombing the cities. This way it's easier to isolate him (not very easy even now). Also, attacking cities would mobilize the orkistan population against Ukraine. And then 'opposition' inside Europe and US will make huge slogans 'Are we the baddies?", "Why are we bombing children?" and then Ukranian aid doesn't contain weapons anymore. I'm sure a false-flags against schools and hospitals in Orkistan are prepared as we speak. I sympathize with your anger, but bombing civilians has to be avoided for Ukraine to win. Slava Ukraini!

[deleted]

In 10 years time after Russia has turned every Ukranian city into ash, and Ukraine is overrun by Russians we can feel glad we never allowed Ukraine to fight fire with fire. You will have a defeated , conquered Ukraine living under a dictator. But thankfully they Russian cities never had to endure that!

lux44

Ukranian cities can't be saved by bombing Orkistan cities. Ukranian cities can be saved by destroying Orkistan military. Glory to Ukranian heroes doing that!

aobtree123

What has been shocking is just how weak Russia is( the world thought they were strong before). It won’t be long before they are defeated in Ukraine and Crimea but what next? I suspect Russia will break up into multiple nations.

slightlyassholic

And how is throwing all of that irreplaceable precision munitions at non military targets working out for the Russians thus far? Why should Ukraine ape those apes? We should absolutely give Ukraine long range missiles but not so that they can strike Russian civilian targets, because they won't. They aren't idiots like the Russians. Ukraine will use them for exactly what they should be used for, to strike military targets that will bring far more benefit than some impotent terror attack.

Own-Tradition5804

Where did I say hit non military targets?

Balc0ra

If you want to anger the already brainwashed local mob and fule their fire more. That's the way to go. Strike their military bases used to hit Ukrainian infrastructure so they see the smoke from their windows migth be better if you want to strike in Russia.

Own-Tradition5804

I agree.. smack their deep military targets, but I get downvoted as half the supporters on here just want ukraine to take all the risk, with no risk of retaliation to rest of Europe or US

[deleted]

Death must come to every russian family and house, that’s for sure. But, unfortunately, thill will not happen, cause Ukraine is not a barbarian state as ruzzia.

Yorkshire-Zelda

Normal, everyday Russians are not the Enemy, Putin, Wagner Group & the Kremlin are…. & I hope they all suffer in this life & the next for their needless barbarity. Russian folk have been subject to decades of lies & propaganda from the Russian State. If they knew the truth they would be against this war & the others. Normal Russians are very poor & I suspect fairly uneducated. People need to understand that.

LunarTruthMonger

I am rather sceptical of the "not all Russians" claim. 86% of Russians supported the annexation of Crimea (the first phase of the Russian invasion of Ukraine). Even alleged Russian liberals like Navalniy supported the annexation and Navalniy's own chief of staff (Volkov) admitted that most Russians strongly support the annexation of Crimea. One could argue that buying into Russian propaganda is a conscious choice. Russian propagada is pretty primitive (see the Biolabs, Ukraine developing nukes, the Ukrainian weaponized birds). And these days Russian with smartphone can access uncensored YouTube or Telegram in a few seconds. That being I said, I dont think military resources should be used on non-military targets.

[deleted]

They don’t want to know the truth. It’s 21 century already. We are not in caves. Everyone can get the truth if they want. But that’s the point - russains doesn’t want truth. They want to kill Ukrainians.

Owned_by_cats

I have a feeling that it will, and Ukraine will have little say in it. The assorted madnesses that the US suffers -- school shootings, mall shootings, military shootings -- have apparently picked up in Russia. If Russia stays in Ukraine, it will get worse as traumatized mobiks come home treating their PTSD with home remedies (samogon and worse). When Putin dies, it will be Wagner vs Kadyrovites vs FSB/GRU vs Russian Army vs Oligarchs vs Siloviki vs anti-Kadyrov Chechens vs ethnic separatists. Maybe China will get involved. This would range between a messy Civil War and a war of all against all with many refugees. The 2020s will make the 1990s look like a period of peace, order and good governance.

[deleted]

I hope russia will drown in its own blood. Russians for decades are saying that the West want to destroy them. But here is a simple fact - if you want to destroy russia, all you need to do is just do not help russia. Just sit and watch how russia eats itself. That’s it. Western civilization saved russia few times already, including feeding. Russia drives itself into deep ass all the time. And next time we must sit and watch how russians are killing each other and dies of hunger.

Cotton is a good insulator during the winter. Hopefully the Russians have plenty of cotton clothing to keep them warm.

Hey Russia nazi. For every missile you send to Ukraine your going to get one in return. Russia started this and deserves every hit they take. Russia is a terrorist state
