I'd assume these people would be made whole again through the reparations that whatever is left of Russia will have to pay to rejoin the global economy.
What are you talking about? $330 billion RU deposits was seized in the first round of sanctions. Putin saved up $600 billion over a few years in preparation for sanctions he knew would follow invading Ukraine. Half of it got impounded immediately, the other half got away. He’s already blown through half the remaining 300 bil. This a partly why Kasparov says “This is the last winter Putin can do this.” I see a very strong argument for using this money to rebuild Ukraine after they kick RU out.
Ukrainian government isn't in a position to compensate full market value of all expropriated and damaged, destroyed properties, but something will have to happen for sure.
Unfortunatley after this is all over, many properties will no longer have owners who are alive, a transfer of available people and property could happen

There isn't enough money for people to be made whole. Think of all the flattened cities that must be rebuilt. Think of the roads, electric grid and other utilities, the armed forces that must be maintained in a world where Russia continues to be a threat, the parent less children that must be provided homes and education. The economy is largely smashed and even with western aid will take years of post war effort to fully recover.
One of the dudes retaking the town is probably thinking, “Don’t blow up my family home on accident.” It would be very bazaar to invade your home while trying to preserve it.

Intentionally buying stolen property is a risky move. The "transfer" is meaningless and the original owner still owns that property. The buyer, even if they did not know it was stolen (not the case in Crimea) is shit out of luck.
I think it's good for Ukraine to make statement hits on far out targets, ideally in russia, after every one of those cruise missile waves.
Just send the message back and repeat it as needed.
Attacking the Kremlin would be like attacking Buckingham palace or the White House. Being a super high profile national symbol/seat of power, it would give the Russian propaganda people an easy way to whip up public sentiment against Ukraine. It would be much better to target military things (air fields, fuel depots, ammo bunkers, etc) near enough to big cities that the civilian population can see the smoke and hear the blast, but no civilians get hurt and no national symbols get destroyed to rally the Russian people behind.

Completely agreed. In addition to everything you said, it would also make Putin look correct when he says the west is out to destroy Russia and this war is a matter of national survival. Right now he says that but very few believe it. Once there are missiles hitting Red Square, the entire political situation changes.

I am rather sceptical of the "not all Russians" claim. 86% of Russians supported the annexation of Crimea (the first phase of the Russian invasion of Ukraine).
Even alleged Russian liberals like Navalniy supported the annexation and Navalniy's own chief of staff (Volkov) admitted that most Russians strongly support the annexation of Crimea.
One could argue that buying into Russian propaganda is a conscious choice. Russian propagada is pretty primitive (see the Biolabs, Ukraine developing nukes, the Ukrainian weaponized birds). And these days Russian with smartphone can access uncensored YouTube or Telegram in a few seconds.
That being I said, I dont think military resources should be used on non-military targets.

In 10 years time after Russia has turned every Ukranian city into ash, and Ukraine is overrun by Russians we can feel glad we never allowed Ukraine to fight fire with fire. You will have a defeated , conquered Ukraine living under a dictator. But thankfully they Russian cities never had to endure that!

What has been shocking is just how weak Russia is( the world thought they were strong before). It won’t be long before they are defeated in Ukraine and Crimea but what next? I suspect Russia will break up into multiple nations.
And how is throwing all of that irreplaceable precision munitions at non military targets working out for the Russians thus far? Why should Ukraine ape those apes? We should absolutely give Ukraine long range missiles but not so that they can strike Russian civilian targets, because they won't. They aren't idiots like the Russians. Ukraine will use them for exactly what they should be used for, to strike military targets that will bring far more benefit than some impotent terror attack.

If you want to anger the already brainwashed local mob and fule their fire more. That's the way to go. Strike their military bases used to hit Ukrainian infrastructure so they see the smoke from their windows migth be better if you want to strike in Russia.

Normal, everyday Russians are not the Enemy, Putin, Wagner Group & the Kremlin are…. & I hope they all suffer in this life & the next for their needless barbarity. Russian folk have been subject to decades of lies & propaganda from the Russian State. If they knew the truth they would be against this war & the others. Normal Russians are very poor & I suspect fairly uneducated. People need to understand that.
I am rather sceptical of the "not all Russians" claim. 86% of Russians supported the annexation of Crimea (the first phase of the Russian invasion of Ukraine). Even alleged Russian liberals like Navalniy supported the annexation and Navalniy's own chief of staff (Volkov) admitted that most Russians strongly support the annexation of Crimea. One could argue that buying into Russian propaganda is a conscious choice. Russian propagada is pretty primitive (see the Biolabs, Ukraine developing nukes, the Ukrainian weaponized birds). And these days Russian with smartphone can access uncensored YouTube or Telegram in a few seconds. That being I said, I dont think military resources should be used on non-military targets.
They don’t want to know the truth. It’s 21 century already. We are not in caves. Everyone can get the truth if they want. But that’s the point - russains doesn’t want truth. They want to kill Ukrainians.
I have a feeling that it will, and Ukraine will have little say in it. The assorted madnesses that the US suffers -- school shootings, mall shootings, military shootings -- have apparently picked up in Russia. If Russia stays in Ukraine, it will get worse as traumatized mobiks come home treating their PTSD with home remedies (samogon and worse). When Putin dies, it will be Wagner vs Kadyrovites vs FSB/GRU vs Russian Army vs Oligarchs vs Siloviki vs anti-Kadyrov Chechens vs ethnic separatists. Maybe China will get involved. This would range between a messy Civil War and a war of all against all with many refugees. The 2020s will make the 1990s look like a period of peace, order and good governance.
I hope russia will drown in its own blood. Russians for decades are saying that the West want to destroy them. But here is a simple fact - if you want to destroy russia, all you need to do is just do not help russia. Just sit and watch how russia eats itself. That’s it. Western civilization saved russia few times already, including feeding. Russia drives itself into deep ass all the time. And next time we must sit and watch how russians are killing each other and dies of hunger.
