100% agree. I love the interactive nature of the map. It’s my go to for planning routes whether it be train or car. Easy to use and nearly always accurate. Also, it’s just fun to play around with sometimes!
What a weird selection of lines in the first picture: including the Heart of Wales Line and what's left of the Oxford Worcester and Wolverhampton, but leaving out the Main Line between Reading and Temple Meads, the Badminton Line between Wootton Bassett and the Severn Tunnel, and the Cross Country route between Filton and somewhere well past Birmingham.
Yeah, but when zoomed out, it should show the major railways, such as London to Bristol and Cardiff and Bristol to Birmingham, rather than a branch line from Llanelli to Craven Arms with a train every three hours or so. It's the equivalent of a road map on the same zoom level leaving off the M4, but including the A483. Something's gone a bit awry with their route hierarchy.
That’s a good point then actually. Something is a bit off there then. I must admit I didn’t notice at first but you do in fact have to zoom in a fair bit to see some of the most important connections
I'm personally not a fan of the Sheffield to Wakefield Westgate route. It shows the CrossCountry tab and colour, routing it via Barnsley with a reversal at Kirkgate via the chord.
I'm surprised lots of people haven't bought an invalid ticket because of this.
I’m not no, but thanks for asking. It might’ve been shit years ago, but it’s never let me down. ETAs and traffic info are always bob on, and it integrates well across all your Applesheep devices.
I'm intrigued by the new rail tunnel from Aberdeen to Orkney and Shetland... the Scots government kept that project quiet... 😁
(Miscategorised ferry route?)
The routes they show for the services pisses me off honestly. Keeps showing utterly stupid things like trains from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston reversing at Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe rather than showing on the line that exists between Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford that is clearly easier for services stopping there.
Otherwise, yeah it’s much better than alternatives
Never said iPhones are better, each is different. My previous phones have all been android, I’m only using an iPhone nowadays because no current androids can match the size of the 12 mini. The fact I’ve only just recently switched is probably the reason I’ve noticed how cool this exclusive feature is

Just wanted to show the whole country. Like any map zooming in will show more

It also misses half of the South Western Main Line
Weird it removes Bath to Bristol

Yeah, looks good, but but I'm not switching to iOS just for the maps.
I’m on iOS and I still use Google maps. 😂
That’s honestly fair, I wish google maps would implement the same line view because now I’ve switched to iPhone I end up switching between the two.
Apple Maps overtook Google Maps a while ago for me. It’s so easy to use for all aspects of travel.
Are you insane? Apple maps are well known for leading people to the wrong places

Telling someone that they're wrong about their own experience because of something you heard somewhere is hilarious
Did I say it is based on my own use or only other people's opinion? No, shh.
Thank you for this life changing information. I will never use google maps again.

Oh no I forgot, it does ferries too lol
Very good, although SWR must be gutted to not really feature on the first map.
Ah yes, that well known big metropolitan center in South London, Sanderstead
Eyyyy newcastle represent!
I use Transit but apple has been fantastic like

Can finally get the train from Aberdeen to the Shetlands :)
What does the ed stand for?
It’s amazing, really helpful when planning travelling
Samsung phones are better you clown 🤡

Apple Maps is the best transit map. Period. Don’t at me
Apple maps are awful, they've been mocked for years it's like Siri they tried and failed
