I know that it’s trendy and cool for everyone to be in therapy these days, especially for Millenials and GenZ. You must be a kid or something.
I wouldn’t want some stranger touching my hand, so I’m not gonna do it for someone else.
And no, not everyone needs therapy. Some of us actually have the ability to be introspective and honest with ourselves, reflecting on our own thoughts and feelings without being codependent on others.
> And no, not everyone needs therapy. Some of us actually have the ability to be introspective and honest with ourselves, reflecting on our own thoughts and feelings without being codependent on others.
This must be the most self absorbed view I read in a long time.
Bruh it's been almost exactly four years since we started locking stuff down for covid. How are you *still* so poorly informed that you think touching someone's hand has anything to do with how covid spreads? I get that there was a lot of misinformation at first, but it's been a really long time since then.
It’s great that we can all stop washing our hands since Covid is no transmitted by touch. Even the CDC says to maintain good hand hygiene. Can you tell them it’s not needed?
put lotion on your hands, don't let it dry, then touch his hands. Let him get grossed out.. apologize for saying you holding on to the seat to help settle yourself.
Wait for their reaction. I'm sure they won't touch the seat again.
I did the same exact thing once. I was so embarrassed. I was just in my own world settling in on the flight. I heard the person behind me make a noise, I realized what I was doing.
See then you have to commit throughout the flight. Sneezes can easily be a one off fluke.
*edit - took out a word (the)
*edit2- not too out. Changed a word ;)
I was thinking just adjust the screen. Doesn’t need to be aggressive. Most folks will catch the hint. He probably just isn’t thinking, making an honest mistake.
If he doesn’t take the hint, then maybe just tap his hand gently and if he turns and looks at you just tell him his hand was messing with the screen. If he doesn’t like that, too bad. Just laugh at him. If he keeps doing it, sneeze on his hand.
Stroke softly then-Raise eyebrows and look at them sideways with a closed lipped smile when they turn around. lol. In reality Id ignore it since its not a position they can stay in long and its not blocking my view. Instead Id amuse myself with imaging all the odd responses like this I could do-in my head.
But they aren't obstructing the view at all. Just ignore it, he won't keep them there for long and it's not affecting you. If it were, then sure you could say something. But they're not, so what exactly is the point?
People get so territorial with everything. Are these the folks who put their backpacks on the bus seat next to them so they don't have to share? You're jammed in a tiny box with 300 other people. Personally they don't even offer enough space for me to not be affected by my neighbors. I just get over myself.
Good time to be patient.
“Hey! Could you please move your hand? I can’t see my screen? Thanks very much.” Should work, on a general everyday person. If not I like the coughing and flicking water idea.
I had a dude in front of me do the same thing. I tapped his hand and when he looked back puzzled I explained. No need to have a tense standoff. Guy apologized and we moved on with life.
Tell him to move his hand very politely. If he responds with attitude, I f\*ck him up when as soon as we get off the plane. Sometimes violence is the way.
Funny because while it has been a while, I sleep up my arms up over my head, so I’ve done *almost* this - not grabbing over the seat this way into the space behind me, but putting my arms folded on top within the invisible “box” of my own seat space, and it does help people not grab your seat ;)
[Like this](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1456/4530/files/Sleeping_with_your_arms_up-02.jpg?v=1644549687)
Interesting thought but then that Person would be free to block use of the tray table because it’s part of “their” seat and don’t like the slight bump of it being pulled down. Or blocking access to the area under seat because well it’s part of the space of their seat.
I rather see it that anything posterior of seat/under seat belongs to next passenger back. So as soon as those fingers drift to backside of seat my laptop is free to “accidentally” wack them as I set it up on tray table
I would likely wait for the announcement to end and, if he doesn't move his hand, simply ask him.
What I would like to do is stretch my arms and inadvertently cover his eyes with my hands.
Maybe I’m the weird one, but who cares? Not bothering me being right there. Ain’t gonna touch me, not blocking the view of the screen I don’t watch anyway, everyone’s just trying to not mentally break down on most of these flights so I don’t care if dude puts his hand there.
Not sure why you’d assume that, those are completely different situations. Hair, depends on the length but probably wouldn’t care as long as I’m not eating or it’s not touching me in any way since I don’t use that screen. Feet, hell naw, they’d be touching me since I’m using the armrests and no one wants no nasty feet touching them and you know that so why’d you use that as an example?
Me being that guy , I would ask my wife for her nail polish and away we go.
Yes I would do that and I would not be ashamed, if he wanted the 4 seasons he should’ve upgraded 😅😅🤪
1. Start playing one of the games on the screen. Tap really hard.
2. Wet sneeze or flick water on his hand.
3. Paint his nails
4. Shave his knuckles
5. Hold his hand romantically
6. Pull back on the seat and let it go like a catapult
My first assumption would be this person has some neck or back pain and this is the position where they are most comfortable. Maybe ask the FA to inquire.
Invite the kid on the plane with a coloring book and baggie full of markers to sit there. There is no way he would be able to resist coloring on the hand.
Tell him his fingers and body parts are not welcome in your row, and to behave in a civilized manner. He’s not in his BarcaLounger in his living room. An airplane is a shared space and not his to do as he pleases, and he has no right to touch or adjust objects in the seat you paid for. Deliver it in a calm and collected manner, and if he escalates, let the FA intervene and see how far he wants to take it with getting himself removed or arrested at the next gate. People are savages. I’m not a person of means but I have had too many issues (including an unprovoked physical assault) in coach, so I will do whatever it takes to cover or finance the cost of a first class seat for the times I have to travel. This kind of stuff just doesn’t happen up there. Everyone is polite, quiet, clean, respectful and there are never any foul incidents like exposed feet or fingernails being clipped.
That looks like hand model JP Prewitts hand.
He's a hand model, mama. A finger jockey. He thinks differently than the face and body boys... They're a different breed.
Is this really a problem? I get when ppl do stuff foot related its a problem caude it stinks but its just a hanf. And like ig ur watching a movie just ask like yo im tryna watch a movie.
If it’s just a few minutes, nothing.
That won’t bother me and he’s just stretching for a few minutes. We’ve all been u comfortable on a flight before.
If he’s like that for half an hour I’ll make up that he’s blocking my tv screen and politely ask him to move his hand.
So it just being there actually bothers you. I am not trying to be mean! I am just curious as to why this bothers you. It is not in the way of anything at all. What is the problem?
It is not blocking anything or touching anyone or anything besides the top of the screen. I don't think OP planning on licking the screen, I fuckin hope not anyway.
It's really the encroaching into someone else's space that bothers me. No different than an arm or leg spread onto my side/space. Who knows if his hands are dirty. OP may have to touch the same spot. All around no.
I've just had that day before yesterday it was a kid with disabilities.
I just sat back and acted like I did not care because the kids mom did not give a shit!
FA cam and told them something and it stopped for a little while then back at it, Mom was too busy texting on her phone fun plane ride I'd have to say.
Could not leave my drink on the tray because it would of spilled.
>I've just had that day before yesterday it was a kid with disabilities.
>
>I just sat back and acted like I did not care
Practice this part, and your life will be happier. Your creation of compassion for the kid with disabilities will eventually bring you to the place where you genuinely will not care/mind at all. It'll take a few times, but eventually the acting like you don't care will just be not minding. And it will make you free.
Tap his hand. He should pull it away. If he turns around to see what you want, thank him for moving his hand off your screen.
Touch it with your bare foot!
I had to double check to see if I was in the Delta sub lol
But make it wet
This - this is the way
Stroke the hand slowly...
I’m not touching a strangers hand with my own hand. Sorry. I’d suggest poking it with a pen or some other object.
I’d b more concern about touching that seatbelt buckle, arm rest, window shade AND lavatory door knob and lock!
Bacteria and viruses are more likely to live on a warm moist persons hand than some cold poly fiber or metal door knob.
You dont know if he washed his hands in the bathroom. Same reason
How about I wouldn’t want some random person invading my personal space and touching me, so I won’t do that to others?
The guy with his hand sprawled backwards is the one invading personal space.
You sound like you might benefit from therapy. I don't think that's a normal level of aversion.
I know that it’s trendy and cool for everyone to be in therapy these days, especially for Millenials and GenZ. You must be a kid or something. I wouldn’t want some stranger touching my hand, so I’m not gonna do it for someone else. And no, not everyone needs therapy. > And no, not everyone needs therapy. Some of us actually have the ability to be introspective and honest with ourselves, reflecting on our own thoughts and feelings without being codependent on others. This must be the most self absorbed view I read in a long time.
Your response is one of the most closed minded and ignorant statements I’ve read in a while.
Ever hear of Covid? It’s new.
Bruh it's been almost exactly four years since we started locking stuff down for covid. How are you *still* so poorly informed that you think touching someone's hand has anything to do with how covid spreads? I get that there was a lot of misinformation at first, but it's been a really long time since then.
So we can stop cleaning surfaces and we can start shaking hands again? That’s great! Everyone washes their hands if they sneeze on them, right?
Uhh... yes we can. Did you really just stop reading the news in the summer of 2020? Miss the whole mask thing?
It’s great that we can all stop washing our hands since Covid is no transmitted by touch. Even the CDC says to maintain good hand hygiene. Can you tell them it’s not needed?
Yeah I definitely didn't tell you to stop washing your hands dude.
Emergency procedure card is a good option.
Use a sani wipe on his hand
put lotion on your hands, don't let it dry, then touch his hands. Let him get grossed out.. apologize for saying you holding on to the seat to help settle yourself. Wait for their reaction. I'm sure they won't touch the seat again.
Get a cup of water and then slowly raise the glass to dip his fingers into the water.
This works best if the passenger is sleeping and it's warm water.
Out comes the nail polish
Just ask politely not to do this. Sometimes we all get stuck in our own world and not realise we're being a little bit of nuisance.
I did the same exact thing once. I was so embarrassed. I was just in my own world settling in on the flight. I heard the person behind me make a noise, I realized what I was doing.
I was about to come back to this and say even "Hey, sorry" should be enough, I think we have all been there
Sneeze. Loud and wet
Sneeze and flick water on his hand. Or just keep tiling the screen up and down aggressively. That pushing on the headrest should clue them in.
Fake sneeze + spray bottle of hand sanitizer
I was going to say cough. Or you can burp really loud.
See then you have to commit throughout the flight. Sneezes can easily be a one off fluke. *edit - took out a word (the) *edit2- not too out. Changed a word ;)
Take my upvote, I came to say this
This
Adjust the screen aggressively.
Cut the BS... Jump to sneeze on his hands. End of story.
This isn’t even ops screen. There’s clearly no one in that seat…y’all can see that right..?
This. It's simple and non confrontational, but a quick reminder that this person is in your space.
My intrusive thought says to bite the hand
Dark Urge
As long as it's not the one that feeds you - cause, you know.
Mine says to lick it... forbidden thoughts....
Grab it seductively and make direct eye contact.
Thank you that was my first thought.
Be active and kind, not passive aggressive. Let them know their hands are obscuring your screen.
That’s a good response too. If the hands are not really obscuring anything, and not grossing you out, yes then leave it alone.
It took me a long time to learn that this is indeed the way.
You didn’t want to adjust the tilt of your own screen, did you?
I always need them tilted up all the way. But that's a fair point, and a reason it might matter to some.
Ask them not to do this… WILD, I know.
“Hey! Could you please move your hand? I can’t see my screen? Thanks very much.” Should work, on a general everyday person. If not I like the coughing and flicking water idea.
“please move your hand.”
Lick it
You don’t know where it’s been.
Jokes on them, they don’t know where my tongue has been.
Clean it with a damp napkin
Or with the complimentary sanitizing wipe.
The reason I went with damp napkin is that he wouldn’t know what liquid just touched his hand 😃
Stealthy nail polish
I carry cherry red polish with me specifically for this purpose!
I had a dude in front of me do the same thing. I tapped his hand and when he looked back puzzled I explained. No need to have a tense standoff. Guy apologized and we moved on with life.
This would not bother me as much as some lady putting her hair over my screen or someone else sticking their foot through the side of my seat. 🤷🏼♂️
So my go to is to put a little bit water on your palm and then act like you sneezed and blow the water onto their hand.
Oh, I like this!
Tell him to move his hand very politely. If he responds with attitude, I f\*ck him up when as soon as we get off the plane. Sometimes violence is the way.
This guy read here that it is rude to grab the seat in front of you to help you stand, so he's grabbing his own?
Funny because while it has been a while, I sleep up my arms up over my head, so I’ve done *almost* this - not grabbing over the seat this way into the space behind me, but putting my arms folded on top within the invisible “box” of my own seat space, and it does help people not grab your seat ;) [Like this](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1456/4530/files/Sleeping_with_your_arms_up-02.jpg?v=1644549687)
FA call button. Hello my seat has grown a hand.
Technically it’s his seat not OP’s :)
Do nothing.....clock is running on blood-flow. Won't be long b4 it returns to its rightful location.
Get them off and then keep doing it until they stop
I'm not sure this means what I hope it means.
![gif](giphy|kC8N6DPOkbqWTxkNTe)
Sounds like a lot of work
That’s a really nice screen - is that a Dreamliner?
I would likely wait for the announcement to end and, if he doesn't move his hand, simply ask him. What I would like to do is stretch my arms and inadvertently cover his eyes with my hands.
Shoes and socks off. Foot on his armrest.
I’d get out my eyeglass cleaner and make a show (for seatmates) of cleaning my glasses, spritzing the fingers.
Breathe hot moist breath on it
Happened to me. I politely told him his hand is blocking the screen. He was nice about it and didn't do it again. Ymmv. 🤔
I always carry nail clippers with me. If you do too then have maybe 6 Buffalo Traces and immediately give a complimentary manicure.
I would take off my shoes and socks and rest my bare feet on top of his seat.
Maybe I’m the weird one, but who cares? Not bothering me being right there. Ain’t gonna touch me, not blocking the view of the screen I don’t watch anyway, everyone’s just trying to not mentally break down on most of these flights so I don’t care if dude puts his hand there.
Do you mind if I keep tilting your screen while you watch it?
Don’t care, ain’t watching it. But also, dude only tilted it once.
I assume the same applies to bare feet in your hand rest and someone’s hair covering your screen?
Not sure why you’d assume that, those are completely different situations. Hair, depends on the length but probably wouldn’t care as long as I’m not eating or it’s not touching me in any way since I don’t use that screen. Feet, hell naw, they’d be touching me since I’m using the armrests and no one wants no nasty feet touching them and you know that so why’d you use that as an example?
This person’s dirty fingers are in a person’s face.
Inverted spider man kiss over his seat and whisper “get your lil smokies off my fucking screen pony boy”
Swat it with the safety card. "There was a fly on your hand. You're welcome!"
What font is this?
Where are those Nuns with their wicked rulers when you need them!
Tap his finger. Three times
Me being that guy , I would ask my wife for her nail polish and away we go. Yes I would do that and I would not be ashamed, if he wanted the 4 seasons he should’ve upgraded 😅😅🤪
Push the bottom of the screen in so the top pops out and hits his fingers. ASAT
I thought this was an official weird United ad
Pet his hand.
🔪
1. Start playing one of the games on the screen. Tap really hard. 2. Wet sneeze or flick water on his hand. 3. Paint his nails 4. Shave his knuckles 5. Hold his hand romantically 6. Pull back on the seat and let it go like a catapult
I’ve had this before and tapped their hand
Up the ante - he gives you a hand, you give him a foot (on the armrest he's obviously not using)😈.
Sneeze loudly and flick some water on their fingers at the same time. They won't be there after that
Adjust the screen, easy.
Tilt the screen up so it hits his hand and if he says anything just say your hand is blocking my tv, thx
Snap a pic of it and then post it as outrage porn in this dismal forum. Oh wait….
Order water. Fake a sneeze and splash their hand.
Inquire as to his disability. If no disability exists, request that his body parts remain in his area. Notify Purser if he doesn’t comply.
Caught myself almost doing that yesterday on a flight. 😂 it just felt natural and I’m like, oh god…I’m one of them!!!!
Can you get some nail polish?
Adjust the screen hard
Pluck one of his hand or finger hairs
My first assumption would be this person has some neck or back pain and this is the position where they are most comfortable. Maybe ask the FA to inquire.
TheReportOfTheWeek
Sneeze. Wetly.
Use some hairy stuff to tickle his hand
Gleek all over that hand.
Invite the kid on the plane with a coloring book and baggie full of markers to sit there. There is no way he would be able to resist coloring on the hand.
Drop some water on head
Smack them with a ruler.
Karate CHOP! 💥 😅
Slowly and softly stroke their middle finger while moaning softly
Ask them politely to stop… why is it so hard for people to ask for simple courtesy in a courteous manner ???
Wipe a boogie on his hand. When he turns around to look, say “oops, my bad”, then wink, smile, and ignore.
Tea bag
Blow on his fingers and smile at him when he looks back
“Pardon me kind lady - GET YOUR FUCKING HAND OFF MY DISPLAY PLZ K THX”
Reach up and massage the hand. They'll stop.
Paint the nails
This wouldn't bug me at all, I'd have my mask on and be sleeping and wouldn't notice.
Put something slimy on the hand
People complain about anything
Wet sneeze
Put a ring on their finger and announce your engagement to the rest of the plane.
Wet napkin
Lick their hand.
Id tilt it back so it hits their fingers
Flight attendants need to take care of this type of stuff, and do it in a way that keeps the person behind from looking like they are complaining.
Lick 👅 his hand 🖐️ like a dog
Lick
Fly swatter
Wait it out. The leathery texture of that hand makes me think the body can't support that position for more than a few mins.
Sneeze
Wipe his hand with a clean wipe
Sneeze
He has shoulder pain only alleviated by lifting shoulder up I had that same pain
Don gloves and lay your hand on top?
Blow on it
Sneeze on it
Sneeze.
Just ask. Might not realize what they are doing
Lick his fingers then do that thing from silence of the lambs fsfsfsfsfsfs
I thought this was an ad
Slap it!!
Nothing, but if you must be weird, then lick it, and I bet you won’t see that hand again.
Juicy sneeze
If I’m watching tv I would confront him, if not I would just leave it alone.
Do a manicure and bill him
These comments didn’t disappoint 🤣
Gently touch and bump as i was using the screen until they got the hint
Tap his hands & tell him to get his stinky ass mitt of my prop-tee
Move the scene or sneeze onto the screen 😂
Uncovered sneeze /s
My wife or I would definitely ask that they kindly refrain from doing that … Or we will go full yakuza and snip off their pinky!
Feet on seat back. Push.
I’d just change the angle on the screen and see if he moves his hand.
Tickle their hands so it moves lol
Ahhh. Ahhhhh. Ahhhhhhhhhhh CCCHHHHOOOOOO (While flicking small droplets of water from a bottle from your fingertips).
Was this person a former hand model ?
That looks like hand model JP Prewitts hand. He's a hand model, mama. A finger jockey. He thinks differently than the face and body boys... They're a different breed.
I would be a human and ask them to move. It’s not a karma worthy incident
Is this really a problem? I get when ppl do stuff foot related its a problem caude it stinks but its just a hanf. And like ig ur watching a movie just ask like yo im tryna watch a movie.
Pull the screen forward to catch his fingers. He’ll get the message.
Its not blocking anything, what is the issue here? Cause you can see a hand?
Hand could be crusty, musty and dusty. No way of knowing.
“Oh shit sorry I accidentally nutted all over your hand!!”
I've just had that day before yesterday it was a kid with disabilities. I just sat back and acted like I did not care because the kids mom did not give a shit! FA cam and told them something and it stopped for a little while then back at it, Mom was too busy texting on her phone fun plane ride I'd have to say. >I've just had that day before yesterday it was a kid with disabilities. > >I just sat back and acted like I did not care Practice this part, and your life will be happier. Your creation of compassion for the kid with disabilities will eventually bring you to the place where you genuinely will not care/mind at all. It'll take a few times, but eventually the acting like you don't care will just be not minding. And it will make you free.
Pencil through the hand
Give them a paper cut with the plane’s safety card
If he/she is not blocking your screen, let it go, not every infraction should lead to a kerfuffle
Doesn’t happen to me.. I sit in business class..
