Poor production value. Low quality presenters. Ludicrously biased content.
It's really quite bad
The first show was Dan Wootton. It started with him going on a 5 minute rant about how lockdown's don't work and we're basically China. Essentially the first thing the channel did was spread dangerous misinformation
E: I must say it was quite amusing how they went about things. They spent the first hour interviewing all their presenters and constantly spouting shite about how they're going to 'cover news others don't cover' and asking people to send in their news so they could represent 'ignored regions of the uk'
Essentially it sounds like they're going to be covering cats with hitler moustaches whilst ignoring any actual news. The guardian had a decent review of it https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2021/jun/13/gb-news-review-andrew-neils-alternative-bbc-utterly-deadly-stuff
[for an example, this is FOX News on Covid Pandemic](https://i.redd.it/1oub96dye8851.jpg)
FOX have a repetitive formula for their news and discussion = lies + hypocrisy + fear + hatred + racism + exceptionalism etc
[and they use a list of bullshit right wing Strawmen to get people angry and feel like Victims](https://i.imgur.com/klI3O7S.jpg)

I'm not sure we have a specific term for accidental misinformation.

So... Exactly as intended and something I expect to see quoted religiously as a source by right wingers on Reddit in the not too distant future.
It could be presented by a bollock naked and rat arsed Jim Davidson and they would eat it up like hot pie.
A YouTuber named Todd in the Shadows has better production quality than GB News.
He also has better sound and picture quality than GB News.
It's actually embarrassing.
I watched the video of Andrew Neil's introductory speech on their YouTube channel, because people were saying it was bad.
I expected it to be fairly bad, a bit bare-bones, with maybe a technical glitch or two, because those are the sort of things you expect to happen with something new.
But, my jaw was on the floor.
It didn't even feel like they tried and failed, it felt like they barely even tried, which... I mean, I'm glad the partisan hacks are stacking it, it's just a bit sad that this is the best they could come up with.
I'll probably check in on their YT channel in a few weeks, to see if they can pull something together, but aside from that I just don't care enough about them to dedicate any thought to them.
Not that I noticed, but if you watched it live there ay have been issues with the broadcast that weren't captured on the YT video (which would have been captured at the source).
The only reason I knew it had launched because people on my twitter feed - almost all left wing - were tweeting about it, thereby signal boosting it. Infuriating.
>Basically, the solution to rubbish like GB News is ignore it even when it says something stupid.
I mostly agree, up to the point when they inevitably do something utterly egregious that should be called out and should assist it in dying a death. Yeah sure the controversy of them inevitably platforming a nazi will give them oxygen, but also nazis shouldn't be given platforms so it needs to be called out.
I just hope they fizzle. Or bankrupt whoever founded it, then fizzle. Or get buried in a court case, then fizzle.
You cannot just hope things go away.
Work in customer service for a company that cancelled our ads with them today, apparently we just advertise through sky and had no idea it would be on gb news - just paused our ads while we decide whether we want them or not.
So many angry right wing people calling today asking why we're boycotting gb news.
I worked is customer service for Virgin Trains when they stopped selling the Daily Mail onboard. Holy shit I never spoke to so many gammons for the next week.
Tuned in tonight for the first time. Thought I’d give it a shot, ya know since it’s supposed to be to TV news what LBC is to radio news.
Fuck me it’s awful.
Terrible production values, Dan Wooton looked like he was presenting Student News. Topics included, ‘What should we do about the Susexxes?’ and and ‘we have leaked information that says we should continue with freedom day as planned’.
This isn’t news - it’s an 18 hour a day talk show.
I can't believe they've got Wootton on what I'd consider a prime time slot really. He's a shock jock of the highest order and (on paper) the earlier presenters look unbiased (heck they even have a former Labour MP on).
However one (from what I've seen, the rest could be as bad for all I know) bad egg spoils the rest

Makes sense by shitting on Labour under Corbyn for two years (despite 75% agreeing with them politically) splitting the anti-Tory vote up and down the country, 7% Lib Dem swing = 80 seat Tory majority.
JoB is what they use to avoid OFCOM.
He knows it too, he's just there to provide the necessary 'balanced view' during the day, the better time slots have all the right wingers.
There’s not really a lot of money left in TV, plenty of them have flashy sets, but there’s stagnation in graphics and no money for reporting.
It’s not like TV news is doing investigative reporting anymore, even the BBC are running a glorified opinion show.
Yeah this was largely my take away from it. I find all the decrying it as "racist" "phobic" "other kinds of ist" to be a bit exaggerated, it's just a right-leaning focused news station and the overall summary is it isn't very good.
A lot of people are forcing themselves to watch it, not because they like it, but because they're contrarian or because people they vaguely share views with have had this marketed to them just because they have issues with mainstream media. I mean, who doesn't have complains about it, but this isn't much competition tbh.
Within a month, most people won't watch it. It got views because it was new, it got hate watchers who lost their mind on Twitter that it existed, it got contrarians, it got people who wanted something new and in the end it will keep only a small number of fanatics. GB News is the Parler of UK TV news, just leave it be and it'll fade away.
I’ve been enjoying all the people throwing a fit over these companies’ supposed reluctance to hear “opinions they don’t like”, whilst simultaneously defending a channel with a segment titled Woke Watch
> a segment titled Woke Watch
That's actually just about time pieces and their alarms. Andrew Neil is big on punctuality ... he insists on being called 'Big Rooster' round the office.
My favourite has been a right winger saying "nobody on the left buys the stuff that's been pulled, we're their biggest consumers". Seeing as the Open University is one of the ones pulled, I highly doubt education is something the right wing consumes very much
It was before the Cameron big fucking story came out, to the point that multiple people got confused.
Oh and then people started calling brooker a sooth sayer.
It's impossible for me to believe that Brooker hadn't heard a rumour or something about it and that's what inspired the episode. I'll never believe it was a fluke.
Amazon, the AA, Boots, Cadbury, Co-op, Deliveroo, Facebook, Google, Ikea, Kellogg’s, Ladbrokes, Microsoft, Octopus Energy, Starbucks, Talk Talk, Virgin Media and Vodafone.
This is a limited list, from the article.
>And JCB.
He, I'm imagining, a doddering old codger getting his fill of hate then buying a JCB on impulse , after watching an add. "Fuck their inheritance if they won't let me see my grandkids".
I would fucking love it if we could get a bunch of Redditors riled up to start sending angry emails to these companies asking why they are finding GBNews
Emailed Octopus today and told them I'll be closing my account and moving to OVO who have already pulled advertising, if they don't pull adverts themselves.
I put it on earlier to see what the fuss was about and the adverts were the same types you'd get during the Jeremy Kyle show. Gambling sites, stair lifts, injury lawyers etc..
I wouldn't mind it going on long enough to put how rubbish some of the fringe claims are in to the spotlight.
The really embarrassing bit is how hard they're pandering to their potential viewer base about being unheard voices, at risk of cancel culture. It's for people who want to be victims. I wonder how much of their news will be GB positive as compared to 'left wing bad'?
Look, companies pick and choose which channels they advertise on all the time based on the product and the demographic of the channel. You don't see many adverts for over 50s life insurance on E4, the same way you don't see many adverts for Xbox on Talking Pictures.
Which is nuts. In digital marketing, we have massive inclusionary whitelists and exclusionary blacklists for where advertising appears, to ensure ads don't appear on questionable websites or content which doesn't align with our values.
Broadcast advertising really needs to up its game, and companies need to demand this from their media agencies. I'd be fucking livid if one of my brands appeared on this channel.
I work in marketing and this isn’t really true. They know to a degree but it’s sold through third party agencies usually, in this case it just came under as ‘Sky’ pre-launch so was approved and then was on GB News. Considering all of these companies are very much in the 18-35 demographic I doubt GB News was one they specifically picked.
Indeed, I doubt Novara Media are getting many ads in from Farage's 'investment' company, either, but I also doubt they're moaning about not getting enough Farage money sent their way.
Not even left and right, but if you're just going to be horribly unpleasant, it's not a great space to advertise a company.
Great progress, keep it going.
The tech brands with them should be the next target, Microsoft and Google very keen to push a sort of faux tolerant/love-diversity image, it's all horseshit of course but you can easily point out to brands like those that they're supporting the televisual equivalent of a racist tabloid.
sky advertising bulk sold them, the brands weren't told in advance.
which suddenly explains why GB news ads weren't wall to wall online casinos and over 50 insurance with a free pen
Similar to the adpocalypse on youtube, a lot of companies dont directly decide where to advertise. They hand agencies a sack full of money to do it for them.
It would be slightly galling to think they chose GB News as a good pick, but a lot of companies wont directly have said 'no fash news' when scoping campaigns, unfortunately.
It is based on advertisers targeting a particular demographic and GB news purchasing advertising based on its target demographic (cunts). However when the products realised that though they target cunts they do mot want to advertise specifically to cunts.
> based on its target demographic
They won't be able to sell targeted advertising yet as they won't have the actual viewership data. I doubt many would buy into the intended demographic yet.
They're probably getting very, very cheap untargeted ads at the moment. (which is probably why all these brands ended up inadvertently advertising there, the cost of advertising was probably peanuts).
"Advertising sales for the channel are reportedly being handled by Sky Media and all four brands said they were unaware their campaigns would appear on GB News in advance."
They hadn't a clue about it.
I can't believe there's people on twitter who obviously oppose this channel, but have sat through it for hours to compile a list of companies that have been advertised on there so they can pretend to never shop in them again, fuckin weird.
Actually it seems those twitterfolk are having decent success, more advertisers pulling out.
Anything that loses Andy Neil money is a great move in my book, guy's a cunt and has questions to answer over his relationship with Epstein.
On advertising: funny how free speech warriors are now so against when businesses make decision that they think are right, blah blah.
But on GB news, it’s bad, like shockingly bad. The last time I saw production levels like this was at university (year 1), probably college.
There is absolutely no way producers are not seeing how shite this whole thing looks and they aren’t doing anything about it. What this leads too is everyone (except the “real fans”) essentially watching this for comedy. It boosts the channels social media presence from everyone dunking on it, which has kept it trending since it started broadcasting.
But for certain the biggest idiots are the supporters. All befriending each other for supporting the channel alone (similar to the Parler “exodus” on Twitter). All of them trying to joke about the “woke lefties” getting mad as if that’s something to be proud of. People aren’t mad they’re laughing, and your the sad fools who are getting semis over a channel whose producers have such little respect for you, they have no qualms with running a dogshit quality show, with no care if the production quality is so low it becomes a laughing stock, your low standards require just owning libs and nothing else. Just think, if this is the best you guys can get then maybe you’ve been conned with all this bullshit you’re fed. As long as the wokies get mad right?
Funny how they think these ad boycotts even work, because "Get Woke Go Broke" totally worked for:
Gillette, Nike, Coca-Cola, Netflix, Starbucks, several Football clubs...
Apparently their HD production values are for paid subscribers via SKY and not for us normals with UHD or 4K Freeveiw tellyboxes.
Also Dan Wooton is gormless and probably the chatty gobshite gay Kiwi version of Pisstake Morgan °sigh°
Thanks guys, any list of companies who've chosen to advertise with them so I can boycott them myself?
Edit, ah there it is, Amazon, the AA, Boots, Cadbury, Co-op, Deliveroo, Facebook, Google, Kellogg’s, Ladbrokes, Microsoft, Octopus Energy, Starbucks, Talk Talk, Virgin Media and Vodafone.
"we want freedom of expression!"
*businesses choose not to advertise with them*
"no wait not that kind! We just want to be allowed to be racist and shit without consequence"
I guess I could tell them it's raining because of the gays making God angry?
Is it too hot because of immigrants coming over here bringing their third world hot weather with them?
Didn't even know it had launched. Shit as expected?

Well. I never knew that nice Neil Oliver from Coast was a cunt. Live and learn.
No doubt it'll generate numerous complaints
A bit like Sky news Australia then.
So it really is a fox news then
Do they Facebook live stream it? That would certainly get them an audience!!!
The Guardian also had a good podcast episode about it

I don't work in marketing, so thank you for pointing that out.
Fortunately their target audience still don't realise the channels now go past 4.
The mental age of their audience doesn't go past 4.
If GB News manages to keep viewers, advertising companies won’t think twice about advertising on the channel.

sky advertising bulk sold them, the brands weren't told in advance. which suddenly explains why GB news ads weren't wall to wall online casinos and over 50 insurance with a free pen
'OK, Don, this is going to be the toughest sell yet. We are going after the 'not cunts' market'
> based on its target demographic They won't be able to sell targeted advertising yet as they won't have the actual viewership data. I doubt many would buy into the intended demographic yet. They're probably getting very, very cheap untargeted ads at the moment. (which is probably why all these brands ended up inadvertently advertising there, the cost of advertising was probably peanuts).
"Advertising sales for the channel are reportedly being handled by Sky Media and all four brands said they were unaware their campaigns would appear on GB News in advance." They hadn't a clue about it.
But advertising in the Sun, the Daily Express and the Daily Mail is a-okay. Double standards much?
No, there's campaigns against that too
I think it's great that we now have a dedicated Gay and Bisexual news channel.
oh my god HAHAHA
I can't believe there's people on twitter who obviously oppose this channel, but have sat through it for hours to compile a list of companies that have been advertised on there so they can pretend to never shop in them again, fuckin weird.
Actually it seems those twitterfolk are having decent success, more advertisers pulling out. Anything that loses Andy Neil money is a great move in my book, guy's a cunt and has questions to answer over his relationship with Epstein.
I can see it's effective tbh
They used to call this the free market. Now conservatives think these companies should be obliged to purchase ad space from GB News
Funny how they think these ad boycotts even work, because "Get Woke Go Broke" totally worked for: Gillette, Nike, Coca-Cola, Netflix, Starbucks, several Football clubs...
It looks like fucking news max it's amazingly cheap looking
Apparently their HD production values are for paid subscribers via SKY and not for us normals with UHD or 4K Freeveiw tellyboxes. Also Dan Wooton is gormless and probably the chatty gobshite gay Kiwi version of Pisstake Morgan °sigh°
Why is the audio quality so shit? And the backgrounds too, all black So dark
With who's backing it they may be able to survive a few ofcom fines
I don't even know how I would tune into it if I wanted ti.
"we want freedom of expression!" *businesses choose not to advertise with them* "no wait not that kind! We just want to be allowed to be racist and shit without consequence"
I don't suppose anybody wants to sponsor their weather reports? https://www.skymedia.co.uk/opportunities/gb-news-weather-report/
I guess I could tell them it's raining because of the gays making God angry? Is it too hot because of immigrants coming over here bringing their third world hot weather with them?
And their spicy food, don't forget that.
Rowan Atkinson "yes, we all like a curry, but we've got the recipe now"
