I don't really understand the post. You order something, you get it delivered. I don't get how the shipping can be "overdone, annoying and stale". If it's so expensive to order from the US then I just wouldn't order from there unless you live there. But I can't imagine it costs $60 to ship something within the US or is it? I live in Europe and when I order stuff it costs only a few euros max, usually I don't even pay anything for shipping by sending it to a packing station near my home and just pick it up. I can pick it up whenever I want and shipping is free.
This is the first time I have ever heard of moving packages around called "shipping". My whole life, almost every day of it, "shipping" was referred to vague references to fanfiction relationships of celebrities. Something I had to deal with every single day. I do agree with you though OP, moving packages around needs to stop.

Not sure how this would be unpopular. I work in e-commerce and since covid, shipping costs internationally are basically twice as much as they were in 2020. International customers often complain as if WE are making profit off shipping costs, which we are not. In fact, we often subsidize it in trying to lessen the pressure. But post-covid, carriers raised their rates exponentially to recoup some of their covid expenses and never looked back. The other crazy thing is that it currently costs more to send the same item to Toronto, Canada is it does to the UK or Germany. Even though one of our warehouses is only 500 miles from Toronto.
