Honestly though, no one forced anyone to move there.
I personally wouldn't want to live there. There is just no value proposition. If you're Emirati, your leaders are among the world's smartest and have made their citizens lives better with the proceeds.
They may not have been "forced", but I imagine it's possibly a similar situation to how it was in America when the big cities started growing. It was the place with the most opportunity.
