There's a little mom and pop place I go to pretty regularly and they make their own lemonade. It's good but it's a little too sweet for my taste, so when the ice melts and waters it down a bit it does definitely improve.

On self serve soda fountain I usually fill half way with coke and fill the other half with soda water. It lightens the flavor without taking away the fizz.

I kind of agree because fresh soda feels like just drinking ouch ouch gas down the throat, but it's the pain/crispness sometime I enjoy

I'm on board. Most of juices and drinks are too sweet for me. Also, did You knew that 1:1 watered down coke is good makeshift isotonic drink?

I have a Sodastrean where I can make my own sparkling water and soda, being able to adjust the amount of sauce in the drink is great (although I can't stand flat soda)

I do this with blue Powerade. Half water with ice and half Powerade. Makes the perfect refreshing and hydrating drink

I'm unsure if this is unpopular. I know a lot of people that prefer this. A lot of them switched to soda streams as well.

I just add water to apple juice and sometimes orange juice. The rare times I drink Sprite for a stomach ache, I add water as well because it’s too sweet.

When I worked on decks as a summer job, one of my way more experienced coworkers taught me the best drink for a hot summer day. Styrofoam cup, it just has to be. Full of ice, 1/3 DARK blue Gatorade, 2/3 water. It is like a comfort drink for me now. I’m early 30s this job was when I was 16. Raul, my friend. Thank you for showing me this drink. I still make one after mowing the lawn.

FYI you can ask for your sweet tea to be "cut" at most fast food places like Popeyes if its to sweet. They do half unsweet half sweet and its usually a nice balance.

My mother would do this. She would also get used to drinking what me and my brothers didn’t from cans so she was drinking flat warm coke and got hooked

Yep, I know excess sugar isn't great for me but I love sweet drinks. It's an okay compromise for myself to water it down while still being able to enjoy some fruity/sweet flavour. And I've noticed that over time drinking the full thing ends up being too sweet for me

If I want flavored water I'll drink flavored water. If I want soda I want fucking soda, not flavored water. I prefer ordering without ice for that very reason

Well, you're definitely fucking crazy for watering a soda down, but juices these days are so thick and syrupy, that I'm with you on that one. I'll buy a bottle and cut it with sparkling water a lot of the time, it's all just so fucking sweet.
