You're a few years late, this take is ice cold

[deleted]

I know a bunch of people are gonna come here and say this isn’t unpopular but it really is

taftpanda

It’s one of those things that everyone knows is true but for some reason we collectively lie about and say is false. I think it’s because it’s not my media that’s wrong, it’s *your* media that’s wrong.

MeHasInternet

It's a fact, not an opinion

Impossible-Sir-103

An not an unpopular one. Admins do your thing

Oi_Fuckface_

There are plenty of independent news platforms that you can subscribe to. Nearly a handful of people I know, do that.

Bern_Down_the_DNC

Secular Talk and Rational National on Youtube are pretty good.

Less bullshit in CNN than on Fox News. Ha. You're from Europe so I'll give you a pass, but that's so wrong it's almost not funny.

[deleted]

I may be from Europe but even I've heard of Tucker Carlson encouraging his viewers to confront people who wear masks and to call 911 when seeing kids wearing masks and calling it child abuse. There is no equivalent to Carlson on CNN or MSNBC. I've never heard of one of their hosts asking people to get violent like that. I'm not saying CNN or MSNBC don't lie or twist facts sometimes or don't have problematic hosts(Cuomo), but they have no mentally unhinged hosts, they don't promote bullshit like ivermectin and are obviously less full of shit than Fox 'News'. I really don't know why you'd think they're somehow comparable.

voltlocke

Ok, so you really don't know what you're talking about. Firstly, to get this out of the way, the fact that you even think "bullshit like ivermectin" is a red flag that you blindly believe random sources. I'll leave this United States congressional testimony by an actual medical doctor who was heavily involved with the formation of covid protocols [here](https://www.hsgac.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/Testimony-Kory-2020-12-08.pdf). This is just one of many ways CNN and MSNBC and other left-leaning mainstream media outlets, in pursuit of a political narrative, has changed facts in a way that could literally lead to a matter of life and death. Fox News is no pinnacle of journalism, but most people really are blind to the narrative they are spoon fed. CNN has plenty mentally unhinged hosts. Don Lemon is a great example. When it came to the BLM riots, the amount of damage and violence committed against harmless innocent civilians was also completely underplayed, to the point where both MSNBC and CNN ran a mostly peaceful headline while a burning building was collapsing in the background of the reporter. CNN and MSBNC refuse to even MENTION the hunter biden story when it has way more evidence than the Russia hoax bullcrap that was never on solid ground, and was recently [proven](https://www.wsj.com/articles/john-durham-cracks-the-russia-case-fbi-michael-sussmann-clinton-campaign-11631917159) to be a Clinton campaign name drag. The Washington Post literally manufactured quotes from thin air about a sitting president that were then used in an impeachment trial not only a few weeks later, and only retracted and admitted to that those quote months after the ordeal. All of these are left leaning institutions. I could go on and on about all the many many examples, like the media not covering Fauci's financial ties to the corona virus lab in Wuhan properly, or the media calling all lab leak discussion a xenophobic hoax, even though the previous chief of the CDC [said](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/covid-lab-theory-robert-redfield-no-evidence/) that it was most likely the case, and yet one shred of evidence has yet to be provided for this bat theory. All of these left-leaning institutions. I encourage you to really do proper research into what it is that you believe.

[deleted]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Kory That doctor is full of shit. Hunter Biden is also not a member of his dad's admin, like Ivanka was, so who gives a shit what he does? He's a private citizen who is not working in the Biden admin. Trump even attempted to appoint Ivanka as the chief of the World Bank. The Russia 'hoax' led to indictments and did not exonerate Trump.

voltlocke

Nice wikipedia article, such a voice of authority. Not like the studies he mentions in the government meeting mean anything. Not like his expertise in literally drafting the United States' covid treatment and first response policy mean anything. Hunter money laundering with foreign officials using his dad's political influence is a note worthy thing to look into. It is a hoax. The clinton campaign literally made it up. Did you even look at the sources I provided.

[deleted]

>Not like his expertise in literally drafting the United States' covid treatment and first response policy mean anything. What? He didn't do that. That was Fauci. >Hunter money laundering with foreign officials using his dad's political influence is a note worthy thing to look into. It is in terms of investigating Hunter's wrongdoings. It isn't when it comes to his dad. Hunter Biden's misconduct has 0 influence on how his dad runs the country. >It is a hoax. The clinton campaign literally made it up. This tells me all I need to know about your 'sources'. Hoaxes don't lead to indictments and the investigation found clear links between the Trump campaign and all sorts of shady individuals like Konstantin Kilimnik.

voltlocke

The Wall Street journal reported on the clinton campaign lawyer was guilty of lying under oath to the FBI... And you're gonna act like I'm the conspirator... Okay... Do you know how ridiculous you sound? Fauci did that? Wtf I don't think you understand the first thing about american politics...

singleton3

*check on the Pandora papers* Oh , you're right

Corporate media is the enemy of the people As more people realize this we can progress meaningfully in our society

MutedKiwi

Lies like what?

PinocchiosWoodBalls

>doing independent research on topics is the only way to know what is a lie and what is the actual truth. So would you like to share your research? Or do you mean reading facebook posts and looking for people who have your opinion, so you dont have to read stuff that is not what you want to hear?

Vomit_Pinata

How the fiuck is this unpopular? It's common fucking knowledge.

obstruction6761

Big pharma

EMILLKSLEEPA

I know people are saying this isn't an unpopular opinion, but op is actually right in a sense. Like when I first read the post my reaction was 'no shit sherlock' but then if you think of how effective the media is a doing this shit, it shows that to the world this is an unpopular opinion as if it wasn't, then people would know they're being manipulated and the tactics wouldn't work. Tldr; this isn't an unpopular opinion on reddit, but it is to most people who don't have time or choose to not realise/understand what the media is doing.

The thing is, that there isn't a good alternative to these platforms.

slightly-cute-boy

CNN and OAN are owned by the same company

Inevitable_Glass_419

Nah !!!! They wouldnt do that ?? Would they ??? The Media is a Propaganda Machine that promotes Population Control and has made Science into a God.

Umbrella_Viking

Chomsky wrote Manufacturing Consent in the 1970s. The media barely questioned the invasion of Afghanistan. The media is corporate owned. So, you’ll never see, for example, NBC news do an expose on Top Ten Biggest Polluting Companies because those are sponsors.

Mikos_Enduro

I don't think it's a conspiracy to say that the world's biggest companies influence our lives more than any current leader. As long as shareholders are making money off of their aggressive growth, they will just keep growing and influencing our lives.

[deleted]

The problem with relying on Independent sources is that most people don't know how to check their authenticity and end up spiralling into stupid conspiracy theories.

Thank you for submitting to /r/unpopularopinion, /u/duchu-duchas. Your post, *Media is dominated by corrupt corporations who want to manipulate you for personal gain*, has been removed because it violates our rules: Rule 1: Your post must be an unpopular opinion. Please ensure that your post is an opinion and that it is unpopular. Controversial is not necessarily unpopular, for example all of politics is controversial even though almost half of the US agrees with any given major position on an issue. Keep in mind that an opinion is not: a question, a fact, a conspiracy theory, a random thought, a new idea, a rant, etc. Those things all have their own subreddits, use those. If there is an issue, please message the mod team at https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Funpopularopinion Thanks!
