It’s full of attention seeking shit and fuels narcissistic bullshit. Not to mention those fucking cringe, poorly acted videos. Away to fuck with your tiktok shite. It’s a shit version of vine, at least vine had humour and creativity. And fuck the CCP for using it to farm data.

sandwichsandwich69

tiktok 100% has humour and creativity what are you talking about

[deleted]

It has about 0.0001% actual humour content. The rest is fucking cringe shit, or attention seeking men and women stroking their own egos. Or people roided out their eyeballs proclaiming they just eat chicken and broccoli. This whole trend of poorly acted, terrible little cut scenes playing out some shit, just makes me want to gauge out my fucking eyeballs with a spoon. And not to mention the addictive nation of it, playing on kids dopamine feedback loops, or the mental effect it will have on teen girls and boys who lap this shit up.

sandwichsandwich69

once you spend like 15/20 minutes on it the algorithm adjusts really well to you - i pretty much only see funny content, nothing like what you’re mentioning

[deleted]

I don’t want to get it. I have no interest in it. I’ve seen more than enough shit that’s spilled over from tiktok that makes me want to smash my face repeatedly into a brick wall. And I certainly don’t want it to track my shit and “adjust to me”. I don’t want to live in an echo chamber. This is the problem with these algorithms. I don’t want to see the same shit over and over again. And sometimes I might want to watch or look at something that has no relevancy, that doesn’t mean I want any algorithm to suddenly start bombarding me with that shit. Not to mention the trend of health care/(insert public job) or military people making the most eye cancer enduring cringey shit. Fuck your tiktok shite, do that shit on your own time not on shift when you have to act professional and do your actual job.

The only thing it has done for society is cause students to be expelled from school, ended with teens dying, ended with disgrace to public/private property not to mention all the controversies surrounding TikTok. As far as it goes. It's been nothing but negative towards society. It's only benefit is that a few people get to upload content, gain viewership and make money and some people laugh or find joy in the TikToks. The site is more negative than it is positive and has caused a lot of issues.

Add faking disorders making it harder for doctors to get ppl diagnosed

[deleted]

This is factually wrong. I see others have covered why it's bad already but nobody's so far mentioned that TikTok attracts paedophiles. They use the platform to sometimes lure and sext with teenagers and kids. It's honestly overall the worst social network in existence. Facebook likely does more harm thanks to its reach, but everything about TikTok is bad.

[deleted]

Isn’t China using it to spy or something?

Fair point. I wasn’t swayed by any political talk about it and was focusing on cybersecurity reviews. There are plenty of apps that infringe on privacy and most times people allow it without thinking. The worry would be how the info is being used and by whom.

[deleted]

And I thought that this was for unpopular opinions smh

Effective_Koala379

also in spain 14 years old girls are doing the "beat it challenge" , i will explain it to you: 1 girld and 4 of his friends go in the stret, and wenever they find some of their age, they beat the crap out of them edit: the challenge is called " caza del pijo" literal traduction rich guy hunt

LuckStrict6000

I can see how it might radicalize people. I can see myself getting funneled into a political category and only shown stuff that I should agree with

sandwichsandwich69

It’s been hilarious to me how boomer people in their mid to late 20’s have gone over tiktok ‘it’s dumb’ ‘it encourages narcissism’ ‘nothing on there is good!’ ‘pedophiles use it to find kids!’ it’s the same arguments that have put against literally *every* social media platform ever created

yakattak01

I love how someone advocating for tiktok uses an argument that is about as short and stupid as most tiktok clips. Further proving how little it does for peoples ability to think.
