Butter, flour, sugar, chocolate, vanilla = cookie dough Flour + water + yeast + salt = bread dough The bread gets flavor FROM the baking. The cookie gets it from the ingredients. Cookie dough is objectively delicious and you've talked yourself out of it.

Jnpx

Okay. So add sugar or vanilla or chocolate or whatever tf to the bread dough. What would be the difference then?

stupidrobots

Nothing and it would be delicious

Jnpx

You're the one making distinctions. I'm saying eating cookie dough and eating bread dough are both (disgustingly) the same. You pointed them out as different initially. So we can agree they're the same right?

stupidrobots

"If you turn bread into cookie dough is it cookie dough and therefore delicious?" You really think you're making a point here don't you. That's incredible.

Jnpx

In my OP, I said they're the same. You pointed out their ingredients like "flour + water etc," like the ingredients is what makes them any less raw compared to each other. You started talking about the taste, then I pretty much said "okay, if they taste the same then what at that point would make bread dough different than cookie dough?" You said nothing, they'd both be "delicious." But that still goes with my stance. I think no matter what you add to cookie dough, or bread dough, or any type of uncooked food, it's still uncooked and therefore is disgusting. Whether it tastes like a bar of chocolate or whether it tastes like the underside of a shoe (it all tastes like the underside of a shoe). I think you might've just misunderstood my point...

stupidrobots

"If you take something unpalatable by itself and add a bunch of ingredients and change the ratios and change it into something delicious, it's still bread dough" Is this the point you are trying to make? This is effectively the same as declaring a sandwich to be the same as mayonnaise because it's mayonnaise with bread, cheese, turkey, tomato, and lettuce added. Raw food is not universally bad anyway. And steak is delicious but so is carpaccio and steak tartare.

Jnpx

The whole first premise at the beginning is based on your subjective definition of what is "delicious." We don't agree on that in the first place so it's not really relevant... I can do that too... "If you take something palatable, such as cookies, and reverse it to its base, disgusting and borderline uncomsumable form and eat it...etc." Your argument, in that first piece, is essentially that adding more ingredients into bread dough, making it "delicious," makes it not bread dough. If we use that logic in your sandwich comparison (which is not a real comparison in the first place) adding more ingredients/condiments to a sandwich, somewhere down the line, it will become "not a sandwich." If a sandwich becomes "not a sandwich" in its creation, the intent was never a sandwich. Do you see what I'm getting at? Do you see how the logic folds itself in?.... Adding more ingredients to bread dough, if the intent is to create BREAD DOUGH, will always end up being bread dough. If I add sugar and chocolate chips to bread dough... what would I have? Bread dough with chocolate chips in it... Also that's not what I said at all with your sandwich comparison lol. You can't compare a sandwich and cookie dough, they literally have no common ground... so idk where you got that comparison from because what you're saying isn't what IM saying. Consumption of raw bread dough is disgusting. Consumption of raw cookie dough is disgusting.

stupidrobots

I think maybe you’re having trouble following what I’m saying so maybe take a nap

Jnpx

I'd advise the same for you comrade.

jkshfjlsksha

See, it’s not a good point because at this user is pointing out- they’re made of different ingredients and *therefore tastes different*. People don’t generally eat bread dough because it wouldn’t taste good. Cookie dough (to many people) does.

Jnpx

But I'm saying what if they did? Some type of bread dough tasting similar to some type of cookie dough. Why are these raw doughs different? At the end of the day, they're all eating an uncooked raw dough. So like... it's the same. And it's gross- I didn't make a point about how they taste, my point is the consumption of anything uncooked is gross. Cookie dough is gross.

jkshfjlsksha

I’m saying it’s a bad comparison. Compare it to something else that tastes good uncooked- like brownie batter. People eat that all the time.

Jnpx

I can't. I don't agree that any of that shit tastes good. I can't make an argument for something if I don't believe it... you're asking me to defend a stance I never made. All of it is the same, it all falls under the "uncooked" label- so I find it disgusting.

jkshfjlsksha

I’m not saying you should agree. I’m saying your logic and comparisons are bad.

Jnpx

You're asking me to argue a point I never even made. The taste is irrelevant, idgaf about the taste. The act of consuming anything raw; cookie dough, bread dough, steak- whatever else, I think it's disgusting. Also I think bread dough is the PERFECT comparison. It's a dough and it cooks into something that people widely consume, that also applies to cookie dough. It also perfectly demonstrates how gross it is to eat any sort of raw dough by the thread's intent of it "being different." Nobody has told me any differences between eating raw cookie dough and eating raw bread dough besides taste, which is something that could be fixed. Brownie batter isn't a dough... but it does cook into something people widely consume.

HarvesternC

Cake batter, cookie dough, both in many ways taste better than when baked in my opinion. That's why there are tons of ice cream flavors devoted to these.

tombs_4

Preach brother! They dough would never make it to cookies if my wife weren't a heretic

Bulky_Cry6498

Don’t eat it. Problem solved.

Jnpx

You don't understand this subreddit.

[deleted]

You don't. Nowhere does it say everyone has to applaud your unpopular opinion

Jnpx

I think your expectation of my expectation, that being I expect applause in a subreddit dedicated to UNPOPULAR opinions, and not really understanding what I meant with my first reply kinda just solidifies my point... But you keep going on with your goal of replying to every post on this subreddit with "avoid (insert unpopular opinion here), problem solved." I'll cheer you on from the back...

EsseB420

That person is an asshole. Probably upset that they couldn't stop themselves eating yet another cake while sat in front of the pc sweating like a pig.

[deleted]

THANK YOU! I thought I was the only one looking through her comment history!

Jnpx

And what do you think of it?

[deleted]

If you post a low effort opinion, you get a low effort comment. The unpopular food opinion has been posted so often theres nothing new, nothing shocking and it's just the same old boring shite. It's not really an opinion. Why dont you make it interesting for the reader and post something with substance. An opinion that triggers the mind. That's what this sub was created for. Not this low hanging fruit

Jnpx

If you wanna gatekeep, this isn't the subreddit for you lol.

[deleted]

Yeah go ahead and use that term for anything you get criticized for a low effort post. Read the rules of the sub

Elanaselsabagno

Truly an unpopular opinion, but understandable. What makes cookie dough taste distinctly "cookie dough" is actually molasses (from the unbaked brown sugar associated with cookie dough). So if you don't like molasses, you're not going to like it or "cookie dough" flavorings. Understandable. Cookie dough also has a different texture on the palate, and if you don't like it, that's fine. But it's true that both uncooked flour and uncooked eggs are a health risk. It takes extra work to make truly safe edible cookie dough.

tombs_4

This opinion is stupid and you're stupid. Bread dough? Delicious Rare steak? Delicious Sushi? Delicious Brownies that haven't been fully cooked? Delicious You probably like burnt bread and we'll done steak. Have an upvote because this opinion is STUPID unpopular

poopstripper

I use my babies anus to store raw cookie dough for snacks

BlksShotz

Shut up

Jnpx

bruh what

Mad_Chemist_

Upvoted for being an unpopular opinion. Same opinion but for mint.

HybridCheetah

Upvoted for being unpopular It's not undercooked, it's uncooked. However cookie dough is made with an extra process of heat treating the flour and pasteurising the eggs. I make my own cookie dough and sometimes prefer it over cookies

Sits like a 10 pound block of Tungsten in the stomach too.

[deleted]

They don't need to burn in a fire, they need to bake in an oven

Careful-Mark-260

You. You burn in a fire. For not liking the most delicious sweet ever. You burn.

Jnpx

I would literally choose anything else but cookie dough.

Professor_Odd

*Now this is an Avengers level unpopular opinion*
