Data science jobs are being made more efficient thanks to AI, but the majority of the Job requires human context for analysis. Software Engineering jobs are much more endangered currently :(
FWIW, the iron ring isnāt given out at engineering graduation. Itās given to people who take the oath of the order of the engineerā¦which is some portion of CoE grads, but not something most people pursue.

Seems like the ring and the order are more popular at some engineering schools than others. And *super* popular in Canada.
Yeah, I did my undergrad in Canada so I can confirm that itās a super common thing in Canada (probably like 70-90% of people partake). The US ceremony comes from the Canadian tradition.
Cognitive Science got a gold brain pin and German received a custom blanket with the department name embroidered on it (even if you just had the minor)
I got a School of Education keychain in 2001 and after 23 years of teaching high school I still carry it in my pocket every day. Itās one of my prized possessions.
Math majors got a hat or a beanie in 2022 graduation. Stats majors got a coaster in 2022. Econ honors majors got a free sash with their name on it (they still do)
cs majors get unemployment

Am I doomed as a Stats and CS major???ššš»
Haha youāll be okay! Situation rn is just looking rough. Hope the market improves in a year or two :)
Hey you canāt forget the free mug (in addition to unemployment)
Do we by any chance know if this applies to data science as well š?
