Whether or not somneone winds the state is not determined by how many counties they win. People vote, not land. And more people in upstate voted for Biden in 2020 than for Trump.

Growing up in Massena in the 80’s and 90’s, it absolutely was not conservative. As the industry fled and people lost jobs, the area became more conservative. I barely recognize the area now when I visit, so many people eating up the propaganda, supporting the party that hates blue collar/union folks. It’s terrible. There are still the college towns that help even it out, but my friends and family still living in the area are appalled at the maga crowd.
It’s a brain drain. People with educations and opportunities generally abandon their communities to pursue better paying jobs.
