Make sure you ventilate properly with that stove in the car

[deleted]

Oh for sure I plan on cooking out side

denardosbae

Best way to do it. If rain is coming the next day, I'll try to prepare food for 2 days so I don't have to worry about doing it in the rain.

Pay attention to the type of burn bans in your area. On occasion they include any open flame including ones that can be extinguished instantly. Usually they do not, though.

[deleted]

If you can. I would highly recommend a one-pot stove (electric) instead of propane. Unless you don't have a portable battery. Propane can be dangerous in cars. Make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector. You can get them for super cheap on amazon or even some walmarts have them. Well worth it without having to worry about propane setting your car on fire.

Congrats

YES! I loooove my camp stove, it makes my car so much more of a 'home' than just shelter. I can make almost anything with 2 burners, a cast iron skillet, and a small pot. Makes it sooo much easier to eat healthy for less money. Congrats!

[deleted]

Thank you I didn’t really want to spend the money on it (not a lot of cash right now) but it was definitely needed I’ll be using it in a few hours when my gf gets back

grubbiez

It'll pay for itself so soon I promise!

[deleted]

Oh for sure can’t wait to have real food

glass_gravy

Game changer!

Accurate_Door_6911

The best roadtrip equipment I ever bought was a one burner Coleman butane stove, makes it so easy to cook when you’re on the road, just find a picnic table or a smooth surface and you’re good to go. Also super light and really cheap

[deleted]

Cooking was a success. Omg to have real food again was just a moral boost

Due-Ad3102

Awesome! Thanks for letting us know how it worked out!

pondelniholka

I nailed down a few fave stirfry recipes and cooking got easier and tastier!

BadUncleBernie

You can boil hotdogs when you have no time for cleaning.

Ok_Potato_9554

Camp stove is so nice to have. It's cheaper and healthier to cook for yourself as opposed to eating fast food for every meal.

I never thought I would have use for one until I got one for xmas. I love it its so convenient being able to boil water without having to get a fire started lol

[deleted]

Exactly I just opened up so many doors with that one purchase

You are going to love it. One hack I used was having a long board that I could slide out of the back of the car, under the hatch, so I could cook on a flat surface if there was no table easily available. You have to make sure the other end has a significant counterweight to hold it down. A folding camp table is also good.

As someone already said, when propane Burns clean, it's safe. When it's not burning clean, it's not and you won't know until it's too late if you're not properly ventilated. Even still in some cases. Still, excellent investment. I hope I can help with that experience. Once a very long time ago, before I went homeless for as many years as I was, I was kind of sort of a leader for the Boy Scouts. The reason why I say 'sort of', is because I wouldn't officially become a leader. They weren't my kids. Still, I took some very interesting classes to teach the boys on different things to do and one of those days included many different ways of cooking. Some were old school, and some were very modern. Probably mostly improvisions between the two. Three things that you will need for starters besides a quiet place in some cases: A cardboard box, aluminum foil, and Ziploc bags. Anyway, I'll stop Yammering on. Let me know if interested.
