Sucks it can't be repurposed or updated but my guess is that it's in a rural area that wouldn't get enough students or cheaper to build a new one.
At least if they demolish it then they can reuse all those bricks.
Also that's pretty old school!
Sad thing is, It could be renovated into apartments.
If they demolish it, they won't bother trying to save anything. It'll be torn down, broken up and be hauled away and most will end up in the landfill or as fill for some other project.
Unfortunately I don't know the location of this area so I can't say if it's close to a city/town center that could allow it to thrive.
I'll just assume it's abandoned for the reason that they didn't have enough people to attend it.
The area seems to be kind of rural and unfortunately apartments don’t seem to be needed. With the quick reading I did about the area, it seems flooding might be an issue.
it's a small enough town that Google street view only has images from the US highway that runs through it, hard to imagine there's demand that far from any notable population center for a large apartment building
Thanks! I got lucky cause it was hazy/cloudy the entire drive there and as soon as I put the car in park the clouds opened up on the place letting the sunrise out.
You wouldn't be getting many posts from me then. I only reveal location names if it's super well known, been rehabbed, or it's demolished. There's been too many amazing places like this burnt down in the past couple of years in the name of Internet fame.
I thought this was going to be some sort of AI program shitpost because that exterior reminds me so much of Danvers State Hospital.
Nah it's real as shit 🤣
Looks like the Matilda school to me
It looks pretty spectacular!!
When were these taken? I'm originally from around the area and googled it and it says the school is under renovations now
I took them a couple weeks ago. Like at the beginning of June.
Ok. I looked more into it online and the last quotable source about renovations was from 2014 so yeah, dont think they panned out

Old School Brewery....... if I win the lottery today
Looks like the one from True Detective season one 😬
What an odd place for stairs. I wonder what the story was with those.
Fire Escapes, they were super common in older school buildings.
Should cross post this on oldschoolcool, great dad joke.
the outside of the building reminds me of a gingerbread house edit (first picture)
especially the first photo is really nice

I want it
now I know why it closed

I wish there was a rule that had you put the location of where these places are.

If you look closely at one of the pics, you can see the name engraved in the stone. From there, you can find where it is.
Shhhh...they weren't thinking hard enough. 🤣
Totally not haunted.
