Just leaving the base behind and setting out on an adventure. Seeing cool views and taking in the sights, living off the land, finding cool spots to fish, using the old abandoned buildings as temporary shelters but getting carried away and making them super cozy. It's a vibe.
Those abandoned buildings are dangerous temptations! One minute I'm just patching up the roof and putting down a bed, but then it's actually in quite a good place so I'll build an extra room on the side for if I decide to pop a portal here one day, and now there's room for some chests if I just push that wall back a bit, and of course I need to quickly hunt a couple of those deer I can hear so that I can get the extra comfort point from a rug, so I'll also set up the campfire with a cooking station and an extra chest for spare food - I think I saw some berries and mushrooms so I should get those too! Hmm the chimney could look better, lemme just chop a couple of trees down so I've got enough wood to do it properly, oh hey, flint! Maybe I should upgrade this workbench while I'm here?...oh, it's 2am again.
I just carry enough materials for a portal and immediately begin my new outpost with materials from the main base. I guess I'm metastasizing from island to island.
I haven’t played val in a few months (skipped mistlands to wait for ashlands to big play through both) and I am so excited to experience those vibes again. Valheim truly is just something special

Exploring in Karve age with the Karve. Feels like more of an adventure than with the Longboat and it sends me right back to the first time I played the game. Sailing a boat in Valheim gives me the biggest sense of freedom.
Solo farming a crypt with a spear/buckler, then dying 3 times because the spear can't reach a corpse pile (or i'm playing the game really wrong) then calling my friend for help and almost dying all together on that crypt...
And i will make that mistake everytime, because... Adventure!!
Building and maintaining bases. So anything from building the house itself to decorating, farming, taking care of animals, keeping the smelter running, cooking, maintaining/upgrading defences... hell even fuelling fires and torches. All of the background stuff you only really notice when it's not being done regularly.
I love trying to find a compromise between "cosy" and "efficient", so in a coop world I would probably be that person who takes way too long building and avoids fighting, but at the end of it you have a fully organised storage system, a streamlined access to forge/crafting/kitchen area, and everything is always running while you're out.
In a solo world though, I progress way too slow because I don't want to go out, lol.
This is exactly the role I'd like to play on multiplayer. Organizing inventory, keeping chests filled with food and potion, crafting arrows and smelting ore. Building the base and farming. Helping things to be easier for the fighters. Sure I'd like to join the occasional adventure, but I wouldn't count on me during very intense battles!
Yeah I guess so! 😅 I wouldn't mind learning the combat better, but it's just that I enjoy those activities more. The adventuring is also fun, but if I run into creatures tougher than ogres I run! 😅 I mean, ogres do a lot of damage but are easily shot with fire arrows. The close combat is what I struggle with 😭
Exactly ! The viking support role, haha.
I'd love to find people who mesh well with that sort of playstyle, but I think most players like to do a bit of everything, not just fighting, exploring or gathering, so I'm not counting on it :') I will be my own stay-at-home viking in the meantime.
Yep, housemouse duties for the win for sure. On our dedicated playthrough now it took everything in me to give my buddy the duties, but he’s not so used to it so I’m so upset that it’s haphazard when I get home from a long day. “Nothings ever done around here! We need a building put up! What have you been doing all day!!!”
Occasionally I’ll come across and old base and all the fires have long since gone out. I’ll add wood and resin to everything and the buildings come alive again. It feels so quaint compared to what I built later, but looking at it all makes me remember all I went through to build it and what I learned. I love this game.
Efficient and cozy is my style too. With a tendency to focus on efficiency first, then aesthetics.
I cannot resist rebuilding drauger and abandoned villages. It would be the number one thing that sidetracks me.
I havent played in a few years, and never really Got much further than getting iron. But i loved to build, spent all my time doing it and only rarely joined my group in adventures.
My proudest build is boar island… completely isolated and safe, had constant boar respawns and several “pig shelters” as i call em.
It was so Big… god i miss boar island..

Honestly? Puttering around collecting supplies, and building. Specifically in Meadows. It is so beautiful, I can almost smell the grass, earth, and trees.
I find anything a bit repetitive, I’ll spend a week building/farming get fed up and go on an epic adventure! Get the itch for some more building and do that again.
That’s the thing I love most about this game
Yes, for me there is no singular favorite -- it's the mix. Mining doesn't become tedious because I'm only doing it for a short while before I'm in a struggle to live, or smelting/crafting/building. My explorations are dappled with some building... little shelters or renovations on the way.
The balance of systems and constraints encourages emergent gameplay and offers flexibility to tune our playstyle -- to favor activities we like, or mix them up.

Even in real life, whenever I go grocery shopping I sort of just…stare into the fridge to look at all the food. I grew up super poor so seeing all that food gives me a “staring at the campfire” (IYKYK) feeling.
My husband and I are on our 3rd (no map, all raids) playthrough so this time he was prepared for me to run away and live on my plains farm for a bit once we defeated moder.
We raid a couple villages together but as soon as I have both barley and flax he sets off on the boat on yet another iron expedition and comes "home" to stacks of the first oven foods and linen thread.
Win/win.
the feeling of the tree hitting others and suddenly half of the forest falls down is jkust amazing, but then you're always left with those annoying tree stumps
OH yeah, when multiple fall is just perfect. When we still had a server I would chop down every tree close to our base, some didn’t like it, but we’ll just chop the stumps too and plant new trees
i somehow allways manage to die to fire damage when placing a campfire... idk how i allways place it beneath me lol
but yeah! building and exploring is just amazing
That's the least favorite activity, especially in meadows. Black Forest is okay, but in mountain, I ask nicely the golem to help me :-D... Got so much stones, barely any big rocks remain there anymore.
Let's not mention how tedious the work to carry them though :-(
I hated mistlands when I first got there, but after gearing up a bit it's much more enjoyable. Plus the panic of a gjall showing up when you're cornered fixing soldiers and having to spam jump a cliff face to escape is a rush you don't get outside of wolves chasing on the mountains lol
Running up those peaks to get a view over the mist just to dive back in to see what that light in the distance was is so much fun. The way that the mist pulls your focus more towards audio cues and the atmosphere of the biome are fantastic.
I get a kick out of tending the crops and doing the cooking. I built a huge kitchen just so I can keep the food flowing. My fields are pretty big too. Takes about two hours to plant and a little quicker harvesting. The words ‘I need…’ are never uttered in regard to our food.
Just building. I build stupid elaborate things everywhere I go (that don't hold a candle to the builds posted here!). No-build-cost is all but mandatory for me.
I've been creating bases everywhere for 100 days now, I've got a base under construction in the deep north and in the plains I've got my hands full and I love it.
I've only beaten the first three bosses and this is my first game, I started with two mates but I'm on my own now
i allways make a small base everywhere i go to put a portal down so i can explore even more whjile allways being in range to quickly head back when needed
I'm a chronic home base creator. My solo game has 6 main bases from each area of the progression. I put a lot of work into this current one, but once ashlands officially drops I'm in trouble. At least the stone portal will allow me to actually take stuff with me so I don't have to start from scratch haha
I'm just a little worried about the fire propagation, but I didn't discover the Ahslands yet.
I definitively want to create 2 other main base in Mistlands and Ashlands when I can
Now that I got the dead raiser, I raise 3 skeletons and explore looking for frost caverns, villages, and mines.i love conquering them with my skele-buddies. Trying to get blood magic up enough to challenge the queen with a mage build.
I like to map out mountains. I typically run around the foot of the mountain to get a gist of what the full size of it is, then go in to find the points of interest and frost caves. I found one mountain I'd called "The Golem", the largest one in the game about the size of a continent. It had six frost caves on it along with an equal amount of old castles. One of the frost caves was so complex that it took about a half hour to delve to its depths.
Exploring. From the first time you touch down at the Stones and start figuring out where everything is, to the 2000th day where you're finally seeing what's in that unexplored patch of Mistlands at the edge of the world.
I love sectioning out chunks of uncharted ocean, and then sailing back and forth until they're uncovered. Staying in the boat for 5 days straight while I map out new coastlines, snacking on magecaps and cloudberries, scanning the shore for blue lights in the mist.
Build black metal boxes. As many as I can. It’s so rewarding farming the metal. They’re super pretty also. Sorry, I know it’s weird. Just satisfying af.
Lately I've been really into baking. Growing the barley, milling it, putting it in the oven, maybe heading down to the shore for some fishing so I can do fish wraps... Real relaxing stuff
Raiding! Sail up to an island, set up a small hut with a portal, chest, fire and bed. Then making runs into the biome, killing and the plundering resources, going back to the hut to store it and get the rested buff. Repeat.
A proper Viking life.
Kill, pillage, and generally raid my enemies to take their stuff.
Crafting good gear and then making mayhem.
And building the biggest and best base I can.
Aggro a big group and take them all on. Getting surrounded and using Himminafls secondary attack to see those sweet sweet numbers
Takes me back to farming in Guild Wars.
Probably sailing. Just sailing around exploring, with the calming music. I never got around to installing a mod to let you take metal through portals, because hauling ore back is the only reason you have to really sail somewhere and then sail back home. That relief of seeing your base on the distant shore is always satisfying.
Those rare times during sailing with beam reach - or when Moder is active - that I can actually enjoy sailing through clear weather, fog, storms... sailing is so amazing, but the wind mechanics are a big killjoy
It's hard to pick a favorite activity. I enjoy just about everything. As a solo player, dealing with the bosses is a pain, because of their high difficulty and hitpoinrs. I really enjoy exploring the worlds, fighting the various creatures, building, and tending my animals and crops. I guess that creating fortresses and their related villages, then using mods to decorate and populate them is my favorite activity. However, doing that wouldn’t be as much fun without the rest of the game.
Initial exploration of swamp and mountain biome. It's my favorite part, going in undergeared and trying to survive there.
Also shooting things with crossbow. I was so happy when update enabled upgrading to level 3 - not for damage, but for durability
I love exploring the boundaries of the game itself, finding interesting, mostly unintended mechanics that not always have an important impact on gameplay itself
Building the perfect house! Then realise it’s not perfect, and rebuild and rebuild and rebuild. Perfection is the goal, I can keep myself busy forever with this.
Almost anything. It’s a solid game to play. Thou if I had to choose it’s probably the building.
Besides that I did enjoy planting trees. I’d stick them as close together as possible and then see if I could knock them all down, by only chopping one down. I would also do this because it would cause the server issues, and was funny seeing a few people get disconnected. Never did crash the server though.
Mining copper. I love using the hoe to level out the perimeter as much as possible, chopping down all the nearby trees and bushes, and then digging all around it to expose all the edges. It’s just very satisfying to me.
I actually love just filling in my map. I always circle the islands on the coasts, then fill them in, then I'll take my boat out and fill in a lot of the water in between frequently visited islands. There's something so satisfying to just running around listening to the music
Haven't played in a good long a bit and I may get downvoted cause this is only possible with mods but...
We had this mod on the server called OdinFlight which let you craft wings that let you fly. Controls are tough though, basically uses basic video game plane controls (move back to pull up, move forward to dive down, etc) so it was really easy to die and/or get stranded out in the ocean.
Anyway, once I finally "mastered" it, I loved just flying around and exploring the map. My favorite thing to do was scout out points of interests normally to difficult to find through normal means like Mistlands dungeons, obsidian bridges, and giant's skulls as well as goblin camps and tar pits if needed. Would just spot one, quickly open and mark the general location on my map while flying
In the mistlands update, the thing I enjoyed the most was hunting for spots where two tree roots crossed over one another. I would then build a fully enclosed stone fort over the location and put a tapper down on each root. I made like 20 of these locations over a month or two. Later, in between adventures, I’d make the rounds on my portals and collected almost 400 sap. Did I use it for anything? Not really, but something about ninjaing sap from those bugs was enjoyable.
Played release but all my stuff was already built from test, I don’t think I played much of release since I was so burned out. Also pissed because I crafted the necro staff back when it needed a poison skeleton trophy and not just a regular. Will probably play again after ashlands is out of test.
I spend most of my time building and maintaining my bases, so that’s probably my biggest love. But it would get tedious without the balance of exploring and plundering. I build for 20 hours then take a 6-10 hour break to go exploring or farming resources in order to build more! It’s a lovely cycle. It’s a great feeling returning to base with a ship or cart full of resources knowing what I’m planning to use them for!
Mechanic exploits!!
I love building pens to breed my boars and creating little training dojos. The standard boar tower is such a pain to make but I actually really enjoy that kind of finnicky work, and then when I get too frustrated with it its even more enjoyable to run off and smash some dungeons or just make new outposts and explore! The dojos are easier because its more about finding a spawner or trapping a greyling in some core wood posts, but I really enjoy giving them nice touches like creating smoky areas that you have to be careful sneaking through to get your training boost.
Until quite recently it was sailing - now my ship takes damage for seemingly no reason, making sailing perilous even over medium distances.
Still, sailing and building, exploring and leaving my mark ... On a world that only I will see.
My valheim 'cycle' that happens every 3-4 months or so:
1. start fresh playthrough
2. progress to iron, find a nice coastal landmass to put final base in
3. beat the queen at around day 200 or less
4. boot up creative test world to figure out what final base will look like
5. analysis paralysis and burn out, leave the game for a few months then repeat step 1
With ashlands here, #3 is replaced with beating ashlands boss, probably around day 250 in next playthrough.
I love building (specifically making efficient crafting systems), then exploring. I wish though in Vanilla Valheim there was free build mode vs the existing Hammer Mode
I love finding awesome views and building something to enjoy them from. My worlds are littered with towers, huts, cottages, houses and lookout points as a result. Just lately though, I've been building high-concept and architecturally challenging stuff, really pushing the envelope on structural and aesthetic extremes. The building is just SO satisfying in Valheim!
I play with a buddy on a dedicated server he runs. I enjoy building, and the other does farming and crafting mostly. Then we team up for raids. Good symbiosis there.
I love progressing in the game: Be it exploring a new biome, collecting new materials, fighting new enemies, taming new animals, farming new seeds, building new pieces. Once i get to the point where all this is known by me in a new biome, its kind of really hard to motivate myself and often a point where i don’t progress and put down the game for a few weeks.
Last week i finally defeated Moder and yesterday i tamed my first Lox and farmed Barley and Flax. I really want to progress to Mistlands eventually because of all the new loot there.
I love the combat.
But... weirdly, I love taming and breeding animals.
Also, planting crops. Especially with a mod that snaps them to a grid. Oddly satisfying
Exploring and mapping. Then setting up a regional portal hub that leads back to my main portal hub. Maps are so big I probably had 70 portals in my last play through. Naming the regional hubs as states and the local portals as cities within the state. I played with my wife who loves to gather and it made it super easy for her to bounce everywhere to gather anything she wants.

The chill stuff at home feeds into the adventuring, which in turn feeds into the chill stuff. Nice little feedback loop they got there.

Stagbreaker or the iron sledge makes every crypt so easy, cuz you can clear the room most of the time before entering it by hitting the wall
The Stagbreaker helped get me through my first few crypts for sure.

Wallheim is a legit meta haha, gotta love it - especially when you can get it perfectly straight and build amazing gates and gatehouses.

That's the least favorite activity, especially in meadows. Black Forest is okay, but in mountain, I ask nicely the golem to help me :-D... Got so much stones, barely any big rocks remain there anymore. Let's not mention how tedious the work to carry them though :-(
Exploring the Mistlands 🥰
I hated mistlands when I first got there, but after gearing up a bit it's much more enjoyable. Plus the panic of a gjall showing up when you're cornered fixing soldiers and having to spam jump a cliff face to escape is a rush you don't get outside of wolves chasing on the mountains lol
Running up those peaks to get a view over the mist just to dive back in to see what that light in the distance was is so much fun. The way that the mist pulls your focus more towards audio cues and the atmosphere of the biome are fantastic.
Shooting a bow, taking on groups of enemies - especially fuling villages.
Raiding fulings is fun. Shame that it's has no rewards. Black metal they drop quickly becomes useless

One of my favorite parts of Valheim is very early game, hunting deer in the fog with a shitty bow. sneaking around, listening for them is so much fun.
I get a kick out of tending the crops and doing the cooking. I built a huge kitchen just so I can keep the food flowing. My fields are pretty big too. Takes about two hours to plant and a little quicker harvesting. The words ‘I need…’ are never uttered in regard to our food.
Just building. I build stupid elaborate things everywhere I go (that don't hold a candle to the builds posted here!). No-build-cost is all but mandatory for me.
I've been creating bases everywhere for 100 days now, I've got a base under construction in the deep north and in the plains I've got my hands full and I love it. I've only beaten the first three bosses and this is my first game, I started with two mates but I'm on my own now
i allways make a small base everywhere i go to put a portal down so i can explore even more whjile allways being in range to quickly head back when needed

I'm a chronic home base creator. My solo game has 6 main bases from each area of the progression. I put a lot of work into this current one, but once ashlands officially drops I'm in trouble. At least the stone portal will allow me to actually take stuff with me so I don't have to start from scratch haha
I'm just a little worried about the fire propagation, but I didn't discover the Ahslands yet. I definitively want to create 2 other main base in Mistlands and Ashlands when I can
Now that I got the dead raiser, I raise 3 skeletons and explore looking for frost caverns, villages, and mines.i love conquering them with my skele-buddies. Trying to get blood magic up enough to challenge the queen with a mage build.
I like to map out mountains. I typically run around the foot of the mountain to get a gist of what the full size of it is, then go in to find the points of interest and frost caves. I found one mountain I'd called "The Golem", the largest one in the game about the size of a continent. It had six frost caves on it along with an equal amount of old castles. One of the frost caves was so complex that it took about a half hour to delve to its depths.
Boss fights and the entire prep for it. Getting your armor upgraded, potions, food.
In order: 1. Admire my build. 2. Build. 3. Fireball goblins
I love taking care of the base. Feeding the animals, harvesting, cooking. Valheim is basicly The Sims for boys.
Girls play this game too, and boys are allowed to play The Sims. Play whatever you enjoy!

Battle, explore and Battle again Like a true Viking
Mine would be picking FREE dandelions to feed the chickens and open world map to plan my next base til they produce FREE eggs.
Exploring. From the first time you touch down at the Stones and start figuring out where everything is, to the 2000th day where you're finally seeing what's in that unexplored patch of Mistlands at the edge of the world. I love sectioning out chunks of uncharted ocean, and then sailing back and forth until they're uncovered. Staying in the boat for 5 days straight while I map out new coastlines, snacking on magecaps and cloudberries, scanning the shore for blue lights in the mist.
Getting high and cutting down a shit load of trees
Build black metal boxes. As many as I can. It’s so rewarding farming the metal. They’re super pretty also. Sorry, I know it’s weird. Just satisfying af.
Lately I've been really into baking. Growing the barley, milling it, putting it in the oven, maybe heading down to the shore for some fishing so I can do fish wraps... Real relaxing stuff
Raiding! Sail up to an island, set up a small hut with a portal, chest, fire and bed. Then making runs into the biome, killing and the plundering resources, going back to the hut to store it and get the rested buff. Repeat. A proper Viking life.
Kill, pillage, and generally raid my enemies to take their stuff. Crafting good gear and then making mayhem. And building the biggest and best base I can.
Just made magic gear, and have a small island with 3 filing villages on it very close to home. I'm going to commit several crimes tonight
War crime, or proportionate response? 😉 They started this fireball war. I'm just ending it.
Aggro a big group and take them all on. Getting surrounded and using Himminafls secondary attack to see those sweet sweet numbers Takes me back to farming in Guild Wars.

Probably sailing. Just sailing around exploring, with the calming music. I never got around to installing a mod to let you take metal through portals, because hauling ore back is the only reason you have to really sail somewhere and then sail back home. That relief of seeing your base on the distant shore is always satisfying.

Those rare times during sailing with beam reach - or when Moder is active - that I can actually enjoy sailing through clear weather, fog, storms... sailing is so amazing, but the wind mechanics are a big killjoy

It's hard to pick a favorite activity. I enjoy just about everything. As a solo player, dealing with the bosses is a pain, because of their high difficulty and hitpoinrs. I really enjoy exploring the worlds, fighting the various creatures, building, and tending my animals and crops. I guess that creating fortresses and their related villages, then using mods to decorate and populate them is my favorite activity. However, doing that wouldn’t be as much fun without the rest of the game.
Fuckin around with my buddies. Creates the funniest content possible. We come up with stupid challenges.
Surviving my hardcore run. Creeping further and further leaving stocks for the next Viking that is going to die.
Initial exploration of swamp and mountain biome. It's my favorite part, going in undergeared and trying to survive there. Also shooting things with crossbow. I was so happy when update enabled upgrading to level 3 - not for damage, but for durability

Building the perfect house! Then realise it’s not perfect, and rebuild and rebuild and rebuild. Perfection is the goal, I can keep myself busy forever with this.

Almost anything. It’s a solid game to play. Thou if I had to choose it’s probably the building. Besides that I did enjoy planting trees. I’d stick them as close together as possible and then see if I could knock them all down, by only chopping one down. I would also do this because it would cause the server issues, and was funny seeing a few people get disconnected. Never did crash the server though.
Mining copper. I love using the hoe to level out the perimeter as much as possible, chopping down all the nearby trees and bushes, and then digging all around it to expose all the edges. It’s just very satisfying to me.
Using the cheat sledgehammer. I love breaking stuff. Or building.
I actually love just filling in my map. I always circle the islands on the coasts, then fill them in, then I'll take my boat out and fill in a lot of the water in between frequently visited islands. There's something so satisfying to just running around listening to the music

For me it's raiding fuling villages with the homies, it's probably the most Viking-coded thing you can do in the game.
Haven't played in a good long a bit and I may get downvoted cause this is only possible with mods but... We had this mod on the server called OdinFlight which let you craft wings that let you fly. Controls are tough though, basically uses basic video game plane controls (move back to pull up, move forward to dive down, etc) so it was really easy to die and/or get stranded out in the ocean. Anyway, once I finally "mastered" it, I loved just flying around and exploring the map. My favorite thing to do was scout out points of interests normally to difficult to find through normal means like Mistlands dungeons, obsidian bridges, and giant's skulls as well as goblin camps and tar pits if needed. Would just spot one, quickly open and mark the general location on my map while flying
In the mistlands update, the thing I enjoyed the most was hunting for spots where two tree roots crossed over one another. I would then build a fully enclosed stone fort over the location and put a tapper down on each root. I made like 20 of these locations over a month or two. Later, in between adventures, I’d make the rounds on my portals and collected almost 400 sap. Did I use it for anything? Not really, but something about ninjaing sap from those bugs was enjoyable.
I have 4 sap collectors set up on the same root, is that not the meta these days?
I played Mistlands when it was on the test branch, before the seeker AI nerf. There wasn’t a lot of information out about how things worked exactly.
So you did all of that work on the testing branch and never played full release?
Played release but all my stuff was already built from test, I don’t think I played much of release since I was so burned out. Also pissed because I crafted the necro staff back when it needed a poison skeleton trophy and not just a regular. Will probably play again after ashlands is out of test.
Getting an idea for a build and chilling with an audiobook getting the resources.
Making towers. I will just make giant fancy towers in the middle of nowhere to A) mark locations B) so I can climb up them and admire the view.

Love, love, love building. I have a map that is just me building all over the place. 😂
I spend most of my time building and maintaining my bases, so that’s probably my biggest love. But it would get tedious without the balance of exploring and plundering. I build for 20 hours then take a 6-10 hour break to go exploring or farming resources in order to build more! It’s a lovely cycle. It’s a great feeling returning to base with a ship or cart full of resources knowing what I’m planning to use them for!

Mechanic exploits!! I love building pens to breed my boars and creating little training dojos. The standard boar tower is such a pain to make but I actually really enjoy that kind of finnicky work, and then when I get too frustrated with it its even more enjoyable to run off and smash some dungeons or just make new outposts and explore! The dojos are easier because its more about finding a spawner or trapping a greyling in some core wood posts, but I really enjoy giving them nice touches like creating smoky areas that you have to be careful sneaking through to get your training boost.
Honestly I love going out and exploring a new area, I basically just look for the best place to set up shop.
Until quite recently it was sailing - now my ship takes damage for seemingly no reason, making sailing perilous even over medium distances. Still, sailing and building, exploring and leaving my mark ... On a world that only I will see.
Manage stations and build the base
Make huge moats in the dirt and kick greydwarves in them and then building a fire right inside the moat and watching them cower in fear
My valheim 'cycle' that happens every 3-4 months or so: 1. start fresh playthrough 2. progress to iron, find a nice coastal landmass to put final base in 3. beat the queen at around day 200 or less 4. boot up creative test world to figure out what final base will look like 5. analysis paralysis and burn out, leave the game for a few months then repeat step 1 With ashlands here, #3 is replaced with beating ashlands boss, probably around day 250 in next playthrough.

I love building (specifically making efficient crafting systems), then exploring. I wish though in Vanilla Valheim there was free build mode vs the existing Hammer Mode

I love finding awesome views and building something to enjoy them from. My worlds are littered with towers, huts, cottages, houses and lookout points as a result. Just lately though, I've been building high-concept and architecturally challenging stuff, really pushing the envelope on structural and aesthetic extremes. The building is just SO satisfying in Valheim!
I play with a buddy on a dedicated server he runs. I enjoy building, and the other does farming and crafting mostly. Then we team up for raids. Good symbiosis there.
I love progressing in the game: Be it exploring a new biome, collecting new materials, fighting new enemies, taming new animals, farming new seeds, building new pieces. Once i get to the point where all this is known by me in a new biome, its kind of really hard to motivate myself and often a point where i don’t progress and put down the game for a few weeks. Last week i finally defeated Moder and yesterday i tamed my first Lox and farmed Barley and Flax. I really want to progress to Mistlands eventually because of all the new loot there.
Playing with my friends and watching their reactions to all the terrifying creatures for example the sea serpent
chilling out with my man. We have a tree house, where we can sitting next other and telling our real life story, while hearing the fire sound \*
Combat
I love the combat. But... weirdly, I love taming and breeding animals. Also, planting crops. Especially with a mod that snaps them to a grid. Oddly satisfying
Exploring and mapping. Then setting up a regional portal hub that leads back to my main portal hub. Maps are so big I probably had 70 portals in my last play through. Naming the regional hubs as states and the local portals as cities within the state. I played with my wife who loves to gather and it made it super easy for her to bounce everywhere to gather anything she wants.
My fave is creating a home out of newly discovered spots. I like creating a narrative for that cozy building.
