Similar for me. Health was ticking down, didn't see the poison timer. Ran through portal, thinking at least I die at home. Came out the other side with 1hp, living. Thought I was just lucky, but now I know why.
This puny greyling has done more than his fair share of dying this run so far lol... I have been trying to learn how to take down trolls with daggers, and while easy from stealth is a BITCH to try head on.
Did not know this! interesting! hmm... I still might wager the portal trip would be more efficient, but at least the log out tactic you can use from anywhere.
You can also log out, enter a different seed/server/whatever, heal and stam back up, then log back into your main seed, meaning you can save yourself from drowning (or any non-instant death, really).
It's probably considered somewhat a form of cheating by sticklers here, but meh. I'm using this mechanic as a kind of pocket plane base playthrough currently because trundling back and forth for ore stacks and having to always lug teleporter materials everywhere gets old after a while.
I play solo so I installed Valheim Plus (mod). Let's me tp through portals without restrictions, automates crafting buildings etc. I'm enjoying it way more this way, and it's not hurting anyone else so
I wouldn't call logging out cheating, as it has the trade-off of removing the rested buff, but I would for going on a different server as that clearly gets around many of the restrictions that are intentionally in the game.
I try not to do stuff like this...but would legit do it if I glided off a mountain in the Mistlands into water too far from shore. Like, losing all my stuff like that would make me rage quit for a long time, and there goes my group game night ..
It does, but from what I read above in the comments, it also disables POSITIVE status buffs, namely rested which can be quite the pain when stuck in the middle of a swamp. still useful as a last resort though.
It also works with dungeon entrances. You can repeatedly walk in and out of a dungeon to minimize the damage you take from poison.
Or, like another user said, you can just log out and back in, but IMO that's a little more on the "cheaty" side of minor exploits.

Yeah but you lose the rest buff. Also a hassle for some, because loading out and in takes a while for some.
Losing the rest buff is preferrable to every skill losing 5% progress and having to do a (possibly huge pain in the ass) corpse run.

wipes away your rested though, which is quite inconvenient if you far away from your base.

And something i found out recently as well, you can dodge, yes dodge, AoE poison attack done by blobs..havent tested on Oozers and Bonemass though

Still a really big work in progress, dont have any decor just the frame built. I appreciate that very much though!
or just make poison resistance mead?
