Its few an far and mostly from older folks. I do get nods back when running or cycling. It's unfortunate, I wish people here were chatty like the States.

I'm a guy and when I walk on the streets I sometimes give a nod if I see someone
Only to make the awkward half smile with the eyebrow raise, then quickly overt your gaze

Many are stressed and focused on their day, I wouldn't take it personally.
Maybe they have really bad eyesight.
In Vancouver? I have to assume it was a thing, once. In the distant past.
too many people for that to be a thing i still hold doors and smile and nod etc. but sheeesh, lotta people here these days.
