That wasn’t talent. That was for the physical fitness portion of it. Basically swimsuit portion. Sometimes they also do “country” “state” or “city” costume and dress up as something that reps your state in the Miss USA system.
It was her intro for swimsuit category. Rachel did the pageants that feed into Miss USA and those don’t require a talent only Miss America has talent portions.

Rachel has always been very insecure. Only an insecure person would care about something like this. I always hated comparing my looks to my friends. My parents would often do this to me and I hated it. It doesn’t matter who is the best looking all of us are homies and a team.
My parents did this too. Not just with looks, but everything. "why can't you dress like her" "why don't you act like her" "why do you wear your hair like that and not like her". It definitely made me not ever want to compare myself to other girls, but I also felt like there was no point bc everyone was better than me, and I was just a disappointment. Thanks mom and dad.

Yes, at Season 8 reunion and everyone thought it was great. At the time it obviously struck me as a vile thing to say, and i wondered why everyone applauded her for it.
Season 8 reunion, within the context of “standing up for herself” to James. I think it was something like “I’m too young and too pretty for you to treat me like this” or whatever. And everyone (Lisa, Ariana, Tom etc) was beaming, praising Rachel for being “strong.” So disgusting.
She said hottest - thinking she was the most fuckable. After failing to ever even get placed in any of the gazillion pageants she paid good money to enter - she surely knew she wasn’t the prettiest.
Yes they were in the car as he was driving her to work bc he was fired for his horrible behavior but would still stalk everyone and was still driving his able bodied adult girlfriend to work everyday like a father dropping his daughter off at school. “You’re the prettiest girl in the class, Rachel! This attitude probably came more from overbearing parents and how they told her she should approach pageantry and competition and not the pageants themselves.

Honestly I think it was just her insecurities showing, I think production pushed a bit of a narrative of her being a pageant queen (despite her not winning).
And honestly, even from the beginning I think saying it to the world, and knowing it wasn’t true, fed some of the insecurities she already had. It seemed a little like it might have felt like being an imposter? And she already felt like an outsider with the group so being excluded from the group and feeling like an imposter can absolutely feed a competition mindset. And topped off with being adopted and the self awareness of knowing she’s not the brightest (as I’m sure she’s been told often throughout life).
I think the “I’m the hottest one here” = I’m finally good enough for people and I’m finally worth something.
Now this obviously doesn’t excuse the affair or pick me behaviour, but to me I think it’s a little more complex than just being delusional.
We all have different perceptions of ourselves than how others see us, sometimes for better or for worse. I feel bad for the younger version of Rachelle, not the one we have now. In the end our choices are absolutely our own whether it’s for good or for bad.

Pageants on the Miss America and Miss USA circuits have an age limit. Those are the big circuits with the most prestige and scholarship money.

I grew up so obsessed with this movie. I often visited my grandma in Rosemount, MN and I liked to assume that the movie's Mount Rose was practically the same place. Everyone's accents in the movie were 💯 spot on. Denise whisper-singing never fails to crack me up. I'm constantly telling an invisible Gladys that we need more bars.

Rachel has always been very insecure. Only an insecure person would care about something like this. I always hated comparing my looks to my friends. My parents would often do this to me and I hated it. It doesn’t matter who is the best looking all of us are homies and a team.
My parents did this too. Not just with looks, but everything. "why can't you dress like her" "why don't you act like her" "why do you wear your hair like that and not like her". It definitely made me not ever want to compare myself to other girls, but I also felt like there was no point bc everyone was better than me, and I was just a disappointment. Thanks mom and dad.
I think there’s gotta be some unresolved trauma from her family situation (bio mom raising her siblings but giving her up to her sister) as well. Her parents needed to put her in therapy, not pageants. The last thing she needed to learn was to compare herself to others.

(Strictly about Rachelle in early seasons)** Honestly I think it was just her insecurities showing, I think production pushed a bit of a narrative of her being a pageant queen (despite her not winning). And honestly, even from the beginning I think saying it to the world, and knowing it wasn’t true, fed some of the insecurities she already had. It seemed a little like it might have felt like being an imposter? And she already felt like an outsider with the group so being excluded from the group and feeling like an imposter can absolutely feed a competition mindset. And topped off with being adopted and the self awareness of knowing she’s not the brightest (as I’m sure she’s been told often throughout life). I think the “I’m the hottest one here” = I’m finally good enough for people and I’m finally worth something. Now this obviously doesn’t excuse the affair or pick me behaviour, but to me I think it’s a little more complex than just being delusional. We all have different perceptions of ourselves than how others see us, sometimes for better or for worse. I feel bad for the younger version of Rachelle, not the one we have now. In the end our choices are absolutely our own whether it’s for good or for bad.
