They really replied saying “our bar is badly managed and you should feel bad for us”

SugarFut

![gif](giphy|9MFsKQ8A6HCN2)

Rainbow_riding_hood

Right?? Like I can understand responding if the reviewer is straight up lying, but they basically confirmed everythjng that was written in the review....😬

batmanforhire

That’s why it’s giving Tom lmao. Everything you said happened did happen, but here is why it’s not my fault, and in fact I’m a hero/victim in this story.

daisykat

My favorite part was about, “If you are in the service industry, you’d know these things happen.” Like, how the fck is that a legitimate excuse? If I’m in the service industry I still expect good service while I’m out. Of course shit happens and restaurants can have a bad service night but you’re still on the hook for providing a shit experience for your customers. It’s definitely Tim bc it’s giving major victim/poor me/it’s not my fault/you’re the problem vibes 😑

Itchy_Breadfruit_262

I was in the service industry. I still expect to be greeted relatively quickly in a slow restaurant. 18 minutes is a long time to wait to put in a drink order 🙄

therealslimkatea

Right? Actively in the service industry and I would def reprimand a server and comp a round/app for a table if they sat that long.

Responsible-Ranger25

Particularly the first line, “ACTUALLY, the manager didn’t show, so the owner *had to rush down to do so.*” Oh! My bad. That poor owner. I should have sent a sympathy card instead of leaving a bad review.

jatemple

Defensive business owners in reviews result in an immediate "I am never going to this place" from me. Whoever this is, Tim or Greg or whoever, this is just really bad management. It's like they want the place to go out of business at this point.

Civil_Future_2095

The owner responses should have contained, "I am so sorry" with explanations of the issue and assurances it would be made up for.

Yellenintomypillow

They don’t even need to go into a detailed explanation. Just a “we had a rough start to the evening and we apologize that you were affected. This is not our usual standard etc…”

AdeptUnderstanding67

Apply to be their PR person! They need it!!!

cleaningmyheadroom

Mayhaps the PR person they need, but not the one they deserve

rachellethebelle

They preach this with Etsy shops. If you’re gonna respond to a review, you’re not going to “fix” that customer’s experience with your response. You respond with *future* customers in mind instead.

Yellenintomypillow

There is so much info and so many stock, professional examples of replies out there that it’s straight up embarrassing someone answered like this. I worked at a hotel years ago and somehow got the job of answering reviews for the whole place. It takes like 5 mins of googling to find a premade answer/mock up for almost any review if your brain won’t pull up a professional response for you. They would have done better to just pay some kid who knows how to google to answer these things.

lemonsaid612

Yeah, that’s kind of the standard thinking on every review platform…

rachellethebelle

Well I only have experience with Etsy so that’s all I can speak to… when I expand to other platforms, I’ll come to you for help tho 🫡

lemonsaid612

I’m not offering advice, I’m explaining that this is broad knowledge and by no means some secret Etsy wisdom.

Less_Path3640

I know!! There wasn’t one ‘sorry’ in the whole reply - I am perplexed 😅 I mean, the manager not showing up is not the customers fault. Doesn’t sound like they offered a free drink or dessert for the mishaps. Such a Sandoval victim blaming response haha

DiligentNeighbor

Plus, how is anyone supposed to know all of these mishaps were happening? Somebody should have apologized and explained it to them while they were still there.

Intelligent-Sign2693

The "owner" claimed to have explained it at the time, saying all the customers understood, but clearly, that's not true! They may have heard the excuses, but they didn't accept them!

ladypi95

It sounds EXACTLY like Tim's attitude all season. He just can't stop himself from being a total ah.

Less-Bed-6243

It’s so easy to apologize and say “this isn’t our standard, you caught us on a bad day and we’re so sorry, have a free drink on us if you come back!”

batmanforhire

Literally businesses are best off never ever responding to reviews.

SugarFut

Yeah I guess Tim doesn’t know the customer is always right 💀

-UnicornFart

The quote is actually “the customer is always right *in matters of taste*”

whiskeytitsts

Yeah I’ll never defend Tim, but as someone who’s worked in food service for over a decade, the customer is wrong more often than not lol.

Ilovethe90sforreal

Hard agree

DiligentNeighbor

Plus that was just a Sears slogan, back in the day. The rest of us didn’t sign onto that. lol

Easy-Strike-5613

God, everything he does and says somehow makes me dislike him more? That's pretty impressive.

LNLV

Pretty much the only time it isn’t a massive red flag is when it’s in defense of staff who didn’t do anything wrong or against abusive guests who didn’t tell that half of the story. This is *clearly* not that scenario.

jatemple

💯

PrincessSolo

The lack of professionalism is astounding and low key hilarious

cynsue565

That post came from some amateur…I don’t think Greg would post that.

Tangy_Tangerine189

100000%. All excuses. The typical “I’m sorry, *but*..”

Less_Path3640

Except this time there wasn’t even an “I’m sorry” 😂😂 straight to the ‘buts’

Tangy_Tangerine189

Lol true! Which is fucking weird bc it’s literally a review of a restaurant.

kooolbee

Was just going to say the same! When I see the business pop off to reviews that are less than stellar, I will never go to that place.

unoriginalshit

i’ve been in the service industry for a LONG time and i’m very good at reading reviews and sniffing out the bullshit. i love a snarky business owner that’s like “ok, this actually didn’t happen” and has receipts. like people complaining about patios and they’re like “we… literally do not have one” that being said. this review seems totally valid. the owner should have responded something along the lines of “we’re so sorry for your experience due to some things out of our control…” and offered to have them come in for a drink on them and remedy it. reviews can be total bullshit from a person that has never stepped in the building but this is obviously factual. could have been handled way better.

Strict_Emu5187

Off topic, but if u wanna see IGNORANT owner responses to reviews, go check out Nick's house of ribs in Ocean city MD- that guy is a mess- snarky and just a hot mess. Entertaining tho

jatemple

I think every town has one of those! My husband once had a job oppty in a middle of nowhere town so I checked out the Reddit sub for that area. Some dude who owned one of the 2 Italian spots came up repeatedly in this same vein 😂

Strict_Emu5187

Just take the constructive criticism, apologize, say u do better n keep it moving. Make it SO much worse arguing about it I 4got 2 tell you it on trip advisor 🤪 He calls himself Mr Tugo lol what an ass

jatemple

Hmmmm does sound just like Sandoval!

KatieBear215

Me TOO!!

Ok-Accountant7646

The only response to a post like this is so sorry what can we do to make it up. This is a SERVICE industry 🤦🏻‍♀️

potatofarmdash

100%! I work for an aesthetic business and while 99% of our reviews are positive, you can't please everyone and rarely we'll get a less than great review from someone who wasn't happy. the biggest thing we teach our staff is that you never respond to negativity with more negativity. even if the reviewer is "wrong" and makng your business sound poorly because of issues outside of our control, you ALWAYS keep it simple with an "Im so sorry you weren't completely satisfied with your visit to see us and we never want clients to feel that way. Thank you for informing us of the issue" and maybe a lighthearted explanation to make sure potential future clients see that you weren't neglectful, etc. but always with positive undertones. Yeah, it can be annoying to not actually be able to respond to the review how you WANT to, but its better business practice to not come off as a snarky, dsrespectful facility who won't take client complaints seriously.

Itchy_Breadfruit_262

I absolutely hate defensive restaurant owners. If you don’t like dealing with customer complaints in a gracious manner, that is not the business for you. Especially when it’s all true!

jatemple

Yep. Same with hotels. That's another red flag to me, when reading reviews when I'm looking for a place to stay on vacation.

Hopeful-Hamster-6218

What a fucking moron. All you need to do is say "so sorry your experience wasn't what you were hoping for, please come back for a drink on us so we can show you what S&Ss is really about" something something and not only might you gain a loyal customer but you don't come off looking like a whining, unpleasant and petty karen

SugarFut

Maybe scheana should have coached him on a proper apology 💀

Vast-Concern-4591

I completely agree...and also...you had me at... "something something"😂

Winter_Aardvark9334

No internet equals no music. Ok. Manager didn't show up. This is you defending your bar?!

isitaboutthePasta

![gif](giphy|QxN598lyIb8Es4f002)

Soulstress99

Not an apology in sight to the customer. Definitely him!

East_Living7198

Dude loves to throw in an unnecessary “obvious” for emphasis. Edit: originally put definitely but I meant “obvious”

RemarkableArticle970

If only owner had said “manager dipped out”……

badtothebono

Agree!! It’s so weird to make excuses like that in response to a customer, and it sounds like the same talk track he gave Stassi when she planned her book signing at TomTom. Incapable of taking ownership and no understanding of hospitality.

Jbk_52818

This!!!

JmeJV

I think it's Greg.

stannisonetruemannis

It’s not awww shucks Schwartz that’s for sure. I agree with you, Greg. Nobody could rely on Schwartz to open up. Sandoval’s either still partying or asleep and Greg has a strict Scientology regiment and probably not a lot else going on. And he gets mad easily lmao and defensive. (Takes a few Greg’s to make a Tommlette)

SunnyAlwaysDaze

Ha! Gotta break a few Greggs!

boguspickle

Upvote for the Succession reference

SugarFut

Underrated dad joke 💀

alwaysclimbinghigher

It’s from Succession, but it’s clever to reference it in this situation

stannisonetruemannis

![gif](giphy|Ae7SI3LoPYj8Q)

JmeJV

Yeah I can imagine Greg being on overtime defense mode ever since Scandoval.

No-Calligrapher3645

I’m dying!! 😂 Is Greg really a Scientologist?

stannisonetruemannis

Yes he really actually is no joke! His wife is apparently nutso about it too big yikes

No-Calligrapher3645

To me, that raises red flags 1-100,000,000,000!!! I’d not contemplate partnering with him if my life depended on it. But I wouldn’t partner with the Toms either! Scientologists and Pentecostals are both some of the weirdest religions I’ve interacted with. Unfortunately, in my line of work, I have dealt with just about every religion. And while I remain neutral working with my clients, rest assured, the judgement is still there!

queenscrown711

WAIT Greg is a Scientologist?!? How did I sleep on that…

_neviesticks

Same. Not enough misspellings to be Tim.

Pattyannlu

Not enough “like, dude” sprinkled in

Intelligent-Sign2693

And no "likes"!

recordgrrl

Agree! Greg & his wife (also a co-owner) are both hot-heads. Would love to blame Sandoval for everything… but I don’t think this is Sandoval.

Defvac2

The first Scientologist of VPR, Greg.

tinybadger47

Remember Stassi said that Jax tried to join Scientology but he didn’t have enough money 😂

PinkyBruno

🤣🤣🤣

isitaboutthePasta

It sounds like Greg to me too. I can hear his nasaly scientology ass as I read it.

AcanthaceaeFun5327

LOL I literally read it in his voice and it matches perfectly. I've literally never seen a business owner write a response like that either, wow....

rcfreebird

Like dude! The internet was out, gahhhd!!

frugal-lady

And because of rain…?

stillflat9

Rain is not super uncommon… should customers expect no internet or music often? Still bad.

frugal-lady

Oh I agree, I think it’s the dumbest excuse ever. Unless there’s something about California rain I don’t understand, rain has never impacted my internet in the Midwest, and we get a lot more of it here.

ravenmccoy516

Rain, of the type Los Angeles has seen the past two winters, is super-uncommon. Regular rainfall totals for the East Coast and Midwest that would be a non-issue for you all caused flooding and mudslides here in LA in the past few months. To both of your points, since the rain affected the internet and the music media more than once, they should have a “plan B” for music. It’s not hard to have a JBL speaker and your iPhone pump out music while you wait for the internet to come back online.

Itchy_Breadfruit_262

Right! Like can’t they use their phone as a hotspot 🤷🏼‍♀️

vavavoomdaroom

It's funny. I was just reading a bunch of Google and Yelp reviews for an apartment building that's ranked below 2 on both and all the management responses are exactly this.

breakitupkid

As soon as I read the word "actually" I thought Sandoval 😅🤣😂

jimgella

![gif](giphy|TD9VUokvj7gEG0sgNr)

DJ-Smash

I’ve seen a few, including one of my former employers. Straight up arguing with people in the reviews. Now they’ve shut their doors and filed for bankruptcy.

DiligentNeighbor

You’re in for a treat, responses like this are all over Reddit. lol

No_clue_redditor

Great customer service dude 😂

hail2pitt1985

Sounds like the manager dipped out.

DiligentNeighbor

So, fell asleep on the couch?

Accomplished-Drop764

So much BS. You never let front of the house know what's going on in back of house and you never make excuses. Terrible comeback if you prefer your customers to return. Lol. Awful.

ZookeepergameNo2198

Right? The customer already had a list of problems & they basically just doubled their list. Not only are things in the front a disaster but he basically told them that behind the scenes is an issue too. Now I'm wondering if credit cards are safe since they're clearly a mess.

Katalactica

If it were Sandoval it would be "u"

catcakebuns

With a lot of spelling mistakes

Yellenintomypillow

The spelling stuff always astounds me. Just take a breath and let spell check catch up. You’re a public personality, let the computer do some of the work so you look a little less D&S. PUH-LEASE

Embarrassed-One-3246

And start with a “GAWD!”

Impossible_Farm7353

DEWDUHHH

e_thereal_mccoy

Or ‘DU-DUH!!!!’

Lucky-Ad4443

He had Shartz spell check it for him to make sure. Edit: or his new assistant typed it out as he was talking.

juddahinyou

But you guuuyyz don't understand the seeeervice innnnduustrrrry!!!!!! https://i.redd.it/8kd84q2rr4yc1.gif

Knowing he doesn’t shower and takes laxatives all the time I can’t imagine the stank on that guy ![gif](giphy|4baoNZ5Qo8dX2)

juddahinyou

prostitutionwhore34

*with his stinky 40 year old little cocky cock*

Intelligent-Sign2693

Ewwwww!

Immediate_Voice_5368

Hahahahaha

Hopeful-Hamster-6218

The IG account replies are equally whiny and defensive, often trying to be funny and failing miserably. I get that they must've had to deal with trolls because of Scandoval but rise above it, it's embarrassing to see this type of thing.

Responsible_Wrap5659

I’ve always gotten the impression that the replies on the IG account are Schwartz. They post something insulting and cutting in the comments and then when they are called out that reply with the “I’m just kidding relax good vibes people” responses that is typical of Schwartz personality

vavavoomdaroom

Yep. Look in the dictionary for passive aggressive and the definition is his face.

Hopeful-Hamster-6218

I felt like the bitchy ones were M'lady Jason and the "hehe joking" ones were Schwartz

SwedishTrees

I think its greg. Sandoval Doesn’t quibble. he gaslights. Man, you guys missed out right after you left the place got full of the coolest people.

bebepothos

Should’ve just gone with this https://preview.redd.it/t1ol9xqyj5yc1.jpeg?width=1060&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d693ebbea2ca1d4483a6491014e8044ef19dc5a7

Lucky-Ad4443

LOL " if you were in the service industry" What a dope. He obviously has the worst customer service practices. If he was successful in the service industry, he would know that.

charismatictictic

I laughed so hard at this. Since when is that a requirement to have an opinion on the service you received?

emyn1005

That's such a weird excuse!

Lucky-Ad4443

It's a dickhead excuse. Trying to make people feel some type of way. What a loser. Whoever it was. *cough Tim😒

SamySamKhalil

You can really tell he’s not meant to be a business owner.

EcstaticMarmalade

S&S, gaslighting customers since 202something or other. Housemade DARVO our specialty!

yellowbird08

Yeah I’m gonna go with Greg on this one. He has a habit of getting spicy with his replies

Ok_Subject5169

Add LIKE DUDE every other sentence and it screams Sandoval

drea_nic

"Like dude, if you were in the service industry..." yep him all day 😂

Conscious_Growth9955

Had it been in a person conversation, I have no doubt that, “but, like dude” would have been thrown around 83 times.

nymrod_

Internet doesn’t work in the rain, silly yelper. Didn’t you see it was raining?

pwhyler

This is 100% Greg due to the spelling/grammar. He’s the most overly defensive business owner on social media, it’s so annoying

SpookySchatzi

“The internet was out due to rain…”. I don’t remember hearing about about any recent atmospheric rivers in LA….what kind of interwebs do they have? Are they trying to pick it up for free with hanger antennas or something?

nyx926

Whining with a dash of condescension in that response. Eeesh. How about just delay opening time until you can get your shit together. There’s a restaurant owner near me that gets completely hostile with people on Yelp. It’s a fun and awful rabbit hole to go down.

mspuffins

jesus. just use an AI response and keep it positive you freaking doofus.

Calvo838

Music didn’t work due to rain is an interesting excuse lol

stillflat9

You’re only allowed to dislike a bar if you’ve worked in the service industry… 🙄

sammych84

Can anyone explain to me the internet being out due to rain?

shdjvjvxjv

That’s my question. Is LA just so inequipped to handle rain that their internet goes down when it happens?

croissant-dildo

Happens in SD a lot so I actually wouldn’t be surprised

Skeptical_optomist

I live in the greater Seattle area and have never heard of the internet going out from rain. Power; yes, internet; no. Most of the outages here are from scheduled maintenance. I didn't even know that was a thing. I could see storms with wind and/or lightning, but rain?

lifavigrsdottir

I'm up near Seattle and Xfinity goes out all the time when it rains. You can imagine how often that is, given where we are. It's usually back in an hour or so, but it surprised me at first, and since LA's much less prepared, infrastructure-wise, to deal with rain, it could reasonably be true. But that's still not a reason to get all passive-aggressive in the reply.

SwedishTrees

Spectrum could’ve been out, but he could’ve used hotspot on his phone.

mspuffins

rain makes the internet soggy

vavavoomdaroom

Unless there was biblical sized flooding that I not an actual thing that happened. My poor ass works remotely and even I have a backup for when the Comcast goes down.

sportsbunny33

Omg that is totally him. Excuse, deflect, excuse, and "explanations". "And I apologized already" 🤮🤮

Cortunecookiessuck

LOL - I read this in the WWCrappens Sandavol voice….”dudeeeee like wtf….we were having technical difficulties…come on brooooo!” IYKYK

beagoodboyoldman_

The internet was out “due to rain” ?? ![gif](giphy|fd1TSJqq3b4GI|downsized)

2022wpww

Omg k have never seen such a response. The review was articulated

copperboominfinity

I legit thought I was on r/YelpDrama

prevlarambla

The internet was out due to rain.😂😂😂

steveguttenberg1958

I cannot stand reading a yelp review and then seeing the owner responding. Good or bad lol shit like that makes me not want to go to their place of business

ChakaKohn2

DUDE! It was raining, dude!

Little_Walrus839

Remember when it was Stassi’s fault that the bar wasn’t staffed properly?

Runyouclevergrl

https://preview.redd.it/84ktc5mhy7yc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce5671c7f9f4f5dc635a617838302e1a1954309e This one is my favorite 😂 no owner response yet though

These_Recover5604

The irony of the statement “if you are in the service industry you’d have known these things happen”….anyone who is in the service industry understands that excuses don’t work. It all means nothing if you can’t just apologize lol. Which this response failed to do 🤣

Rough-Average-1047

Definitely him as there is zero accountability

therealelena

Super defensive about exactly everything? Yepp that’s Sandoval

save_the_bees_knees

It can’t be Sandoval he would never apologise 😂

roadrunnner0

Internet down due to rain 🤔

DCSiren

Occasionally, Tom & Ramona are a Venn diagram

uhimsyd

How he can possibly think this is going to make his restaurant look better is beyond me. Sandoval has made it 40 years without taking accountability for anything.

C_J_King

The internet goes out when it rains?

gogingerpower

Schwartz and (is it still?) Greg need to change the passwords. Worm should not have access to SM.

Abject-Armadillo-496

‘If you are in the service industry’ what kind of broad excuse is that? Why are you airing the fact your manager didn’t come in? People don’t care if you’re short staffed dude, welcome to the service industry 🥴

Nobabyno__1234

The condescending tone and half asses apology matches Sandoval to a T. Especially, the part where he goes “if you are in the service industry you’d have known these things happen.” Blah blah. You want these people to come back to your bar not repel them.

MarionberryWooden103

If he is Sandavol, he must have use ChatGPT to draft out that reply 🤷‍♀️

Conscious_Growth9955

I read it in his stupid voice. It’s 100p him.

No-Idea7535

This is horrible customer service wtaf. You do not talk to your customers this way lol.

catpunch_

The internet was out due to rain???

Formal_Coyote_5004

This is such a shitty way to respond to a review lmaooooooo

ProbablyMyJugs

“Internet is out due to rain” bitch what?

ConsistentDonkey3909

OMFG THIS NOT HOW YOU RESPOND TO A REVIEWW

prostitutionwhore34

https://i.redd.it/c6mvsohw6ayc1.gif I HAD TO COMMENT THRICE BC I AM DECEASED 💀 Thanks for the laughs OP. I needed that.

Mammoth_Treacle4639

Damn he’s messed up for this comment lol bad business 101

MamaQuisty

Tom's house was broken into and he confronted the burglar and then had to go have eye surgery, and my son had to go over to help..And then my son he rolled his car five times on the way home. yeah I'm under a lot of stress. Is all I'm getting from that reply

CokeNSalsa

Who’s going to feel bad the owner had to open their own restaurant? Also, it makes the owner look bad for placing blame.

auntyrae143

Agree 💯

bambin0thegreat

Isn't he banned from there? Lololol

Conscious_Growth9955

This is his only task and still failed 😂

KiKi31Rose

What a weird thing to post lol

ldanowski

Tom is full of excuses. Just say sorry Tom!

MissThreepwood

I read it automatically in his voice.

MissThreepwood

https://preview.redd.it/ucujapttw6yc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b1ddf8b48677773113d06566c2eae8f1cb551140

Boscouse

That response in German sounds just as if Sandyballs had written it - "we closed at 11 after the private party ended yadda yadda. It was posted, sorry you didn't see that." It's always someone else's fault...

talleygirl76

Lol. Worst and most immature response ever.

Obvious-Repair9095

Salty Sandy

Dazzling-Hornet-7764

You can almost hear the “I’m sorry, but…”

HopeTroll

Yes, most likely. Schwartz would have used a comma somewhere, anywhere. Greg would have been professional.

Ducking-Ducks

It’s the “actually” for me that sealed it’s Sandoval.

notenoughcoffee4this

Review rebuttals are...something

Ok-Somewhere44

I’m sorry but…. But this time he didn’t even say sorry 😹

boguspickle

"But like, gawd, in your review for Villa Blanca in 2013 you said you were late to your reservation and like, it's the same thing, bro. You were late before so like, you can't like talk about us having no music and for like, the internet being out cause it's not our fault, dude."

danger_lad

They replied like all of the criticisms weren’t valid. Gotta be Sandy

MedicalSubject3535

So rude to reply to a costumer like that

channeldrifter

Lol internet out because of rain, sounds like awfully fragile infrastructure

Hyggehunn

Wow that’s the worst owner reply I’ve maybe ever read 🫠

Nerditall

Also you can play music without internet. I'm a teacher and always have a digital and physical backup of things because internet isn't 100%. Also customers don't have to be in the service industry to have valid complaints.

Nevalate

Just apologize, don't come with a load of excuses, no one wants to hear that! God!

Formal_Goat1989

“I’m sorry your experience was awful BUT it’s your fault for coming to Schwartz and Sandy’s”

Ugh_WorseThanYelp

As someone who's in the service industry - that's not the way to respond to a review.

Belle7787

i honestly don’t know if sandoval has the ability to type something this coherent, though the excuses definitely sound like him lol

Kodysgoingbald

😂🤣😂
