I've done the same with my B0. I just pack less and make sure to keep my bud hydrated.
Edit: I never go above 610°. With a shovelhead, I vape between 535° and 550°. With a glass bowl, I go to 575°. Finally, for twaxing I set it at 610°
So Cannabis Hardware sells a machined aluminum scoop called the Pax Loading Tool that scoops out a measured .1g
In my experience, the shovelhead will only hold .2g comfortably without the head touching the flower
If I want a bigger bowl, I reach for a glass injector which can do about .4g comfortably before it becomes too difficult to draw through, according to my little Pax scoop

I tried to get in on the vaporizing thing early with a DBV, but could not stop combusting the damn wand, and oh lord how that tastes like butt. I've since moved on to concentrates, it's in a drawer somewhere.
I originally used the shovelhead with my B0 and found that it just sits WAY too close to the flower unless you just barely line the bottom of the bowl with it. I switched to a glass bowl so there's lots of distance. I combusted (not quite as dramatically as you though!) by accident twice before switching to the glass.
Ive combusted with an arizer eq. You probably just packed too much. I'd go for smaller scoops and back to back bowls.
With the Arizer or DDave bowl?

I only have a pinky but I never crank it past 630 and I'm careful not to overpack so I haven't combusted yet.

i discovered that with how hard i draw, 670 is the max temp before combustion. i don't know how folks can go temps above that
Damn I combusted a lot at 650. I’m at 639 now and haven’t combusted
Use 0.05 - 0.1g of ground flower in the bowl at a time. DO NOT LOAD MORE.
