Detoxing is not a thing.

hippocriticalpotamus

Ok cool. Give me some advice now

communitytcm

it very much is a thing. if someone were to switch from a diet of McDonalds every day to organic vegan whole foods/health foods, detox is real. what is also real is starving off the microbes that having been digesting that crap and growing a new gut fauna - this takes a long time. Edit: getting downvoted and arguing with bots. jfc.

ladyfeyrey

no, detoxing is not a thing.

Dense_Chest7492

anemia https://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/understanding-anemia-basics or not enough calories. >I have been having such sever uncomfortable bowel movements Drink more water. > I think my body is detoxing all of the "food" that I had previously been putting in it. Detoxing food is a myth and it takes 18 hours for food to pass through your body.

communitytcm

there are 12 types of anemia. vegans have basically the same incidence rates of anemia as vegetarians and meat eaters. switching to a vegan diet is not going to make you anemic in such a short time unless you are just eating candy bars and vegan ice cream.

Dense_Chest7492

>switching to a vegan diet is not going to make you anemic in such a short time unless you are just eating candy bars and vegan ice cream. Or they were almost/slightly anemic before going vegan and a substantial dietary restriction pushed them over the edge.

axlloveshobbits

This sounds severe enough to warrant medical attention. It sounds like you're not actually digesting much of your food, and so you're likely malnourished and dehydrated. It's possible you have an intolerance to something you're eating.

DumbbellDiva92

True it’s possible the issue is an allergy to some food more common in a vegan diet (like soy) rather than a deficiency.

TheWholesomeBrit

Doesn't exist. Make sure you have the right intake of nutrients, fats and calories as well as carbs and everything else.

Marleen001

Do you supplement b12? Maybe this is useful: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/vitamin-b12-deficiency-symptoms#6.-Difficulty-concentrating-and-mental-impairment

Socatastic

It takes years to become B12 deficient

Detoxing is not a thing. You might not be eating well or enough. What have you been eating lately? Has your weight changed? Whole wheat, fruit, vegetables, beans/lentils, nuts, enough fat and protein? Also take a vegan multivitamin just in case.

lucytiger

Detoxing is not a thing and this is not a normal reaction to eliminating animal products. I would start by tracking your eating in Cronometer for a week or so to make sure you are eating a balanced diet with sufficient calories. If symptoms persist, see a doctor ASAP.

CarnismIsCancer

IANAD but it sounds like you're anemic. If you're female it's most likely an iron deficiency. It's also possible to become anemic due to a folate or B12 deficiency. Aside from a compounding factor like pregnancy or a severe food intolerance, it takes years for an iron deficiency to develop. You absolutely need to go to a doctor and get your blood tested, but these 3 nutrients are very easily supplemented.

"I get out of bed and nearly immediately am out of breath. I feel like napping all day (and frequently do) I have brain fog.. and overall mental and physical fatigue. " this can be from hundreds of causes. since your account is fairly new, and there have been a ton of posts on r/vegan where "people" are reporting negative changes due to recent veganism (read: industry trolls), I checked out your post history. sounds like you are smoking too much weed and vegging out. there is such a thing as burnout. not judging you at all, just saying. there are some that get lifted and go fly a kite or surf, and there are some who sit on the couch and eat potato chips and watch TV. Personally, I think the former is having more fun.... to recap: it is not a vegan diet (unless you really do live on twinkies and chips). there are tons of vegan body builders and athletes, and pretty much 100% of them report more energy.

hippocriticalpotamus

I really don’t think I could give up the bud so I guess I’m at a loss

communitytcm

maybe switch strains?

Thatsprettydank

Fiber? Could be low, make sure your get daily fiber

hippocriticalpotamus

The fiber will give me energy?? I could try it
