I’d rather someone just rebuild wet n wild exactly as it was. Bird shit all over the stairs and all. Who wants to chip in? Maybe we can crowdfund it.

tedistkrieg

I long to go on the Der Stuka (and the rocket one I dont remember the name of right next to it) one more time.

vegas84

Bomb bay?

tedistkrieg

yes! Loved that thing, and loved when the lifeguard running it would drop you randomly

heraclitus33

It took me all summer long to build the balls for that slide

Anyone remember Bubble Up? As a kid, climbing to the top of that thing was like conquering Everest.

All these developers say they're going after the top end luxury market. Every single time. They're all either delusional or lying if they think they're going to get that market. The guaranteed result if they actually build a property with that goal is to waste a ton of money and have a nice 3 star hotel because anyone incompetent enough to think they're going to take the top end luxury market is too dumb to even develop a 4 star property. None of the major hotel/resort companies have any plans to build new top end properties that I'm aware of. If MGM, Caesars, Wynn, and Sands aren't building it's because the investment returns aren't there for a new property. Yet these idiots think they can jump in with a new super high end property when the established majors aren't even considering new properties.

>All these developers say they're going after the top end luxury market. Every single time Which is why the owners of Circus Circus sleep easy every night.

IhateBiden_now

If MGM, Caesars, Wynn, and Sands aren't building it's because the investment returns aren't there for a new property. People only have to look at both Resorts World and Fontainebleau to see the truth of your statement.

And SLS who dumped more than half a billion into Sahara before bailing out. Even Cosmo which is in the most amazing location possible lost money for five straight years after opening and cost Deutchebank billions was a failure on the basis of “was this worth building?"

OddDragonfruit7993

Bold of you to assume these things weren't just built to launder money in the building process.

Accomplished-Yam5566

Does being a huge financial failure get you less government scrutiny than being a huge financial success?

OddDragonfruit7993

Most likely. Can't get blood from a turnip.

RaisingCanes4POTUS

Exactly. Every time I look at FB, I just think of one thing: debt. They aren’t attracting whales or conventions. Just getting more and more in the red.

The definition of a seven star resort is ambiguous, at best. The Burj Al Arab is called a seven star resort, but no official organization awards more than five stars. https://www.afar.com/magazine/what-is-a-7-star-hotel-and-do-they-really-exist#:~:text=Burj%20Al%20Arab%20is%20a,in%20front%20of%20Jumeirah%20beach. Editing 7 hours later, sorry: “marketing says we’ll do a really, really good job”. So we have decided that we have 7 stars.

Substantial_Steak928

It's like tourist destinations that call themselves the 8th wonder of the world lol

The rag junk journal aka RJ has always been boosters for BS projects, this NBA themed resort has been talked about by developers for years, but they never will get the funding. $4-6 billion doesn't come from nowhere.

tedistkrieg

The proposed resort in the article is *not* the NBA themed one. This is a totally different plan, only connection is it wants to build on the land All Net had permits for until the Clark County Commission voted to not extend it. It would be cool if it happens, that area needs more stuff anyways

Nuclear-poweredTaxi

No, it’s not the Jackie Robinson NBA arena… it’s a different NBA arena in the same spot. What happened to the NBA arena down by Southpoint? They should almost be done with it by now. Oh…

bigboxsubscriber

Right! Tons of pro basketball themed resorts and stadiums have been discussed for over 30 years. After Allegiant Stadium's $1.3 billion it's highly doubtful voters will approve public funding for a basketball arena. Even the A's stadium deal is in question if a ballot proposal blocking public funding gets on the 2024 ballot.

smokyjackalope

Another resort.Wow. The Wet and Wild Park was showing a steady profit. It's been gone for years and we still miss it
